I think Sonic is the only 3rd party character to gain a redesign between Smash games (aside from general graphical improvements and color saturation that’s more game-wide)
In his first appearance, he’s based on 06 and Secret Rings models, while in 3DS/Wii U/Ultimate, he’s based on his post-Unleashed design (Ultimate also adds some post-Forces artwork detailing with little lines indicating quills)

I think Sega only associated with Nintendo on making some games starting in 2007 with Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games. I only seem to notice their co-operation in the Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games games. Super Smash Bros. Brawl was made in 2007. Someone noticed that third-party characters always been a rule from the start, but they never got any in Melee and before that. I might be wrong, because I'm so dumb, so tell me if I'm wrong, and do not forget to call me a dummy like every kind geniuses are doing.
@@bennel3588Wrong my noble, Sega wanted sonic to appear in melee, long before brawl, so they said it was too late. nintendo in 2001 when it finished releasing consoles.

Sonic and tails was supposed to be in melee but didn’t make the cut on time for the release, plus if you google sonic and tails in super smash bros melee 2001 then they made their appearance in the game photos as an april fools joke and it had many of us sooooo mad 😡

When I was a kid I remember having my GameCube turned on for 2 days and unlocking Sonic
cap, sonic was only in the wii when he released, he only used mods for 64 and gamecube.

Not all of Sonic’s moves have been transferred from Brawl to Melee in fact, some are missing, but think of it as just an evolution thing I guess

In Smash 64 (Smash Remix), Sonic has the forward kick from Sonic Battle as his forward air, and in Smash Melee (Akaneia Build) Sonic has the lightspeed dash as his forward special

Ok first definitely love Smash Remix and Akaneia Build (especially when their modded in characters only reflect the era those games came out). Second why does Green Hill Zone's theme sound so fast? I've played these games and mods and it doesn't sound that fast, guessing it's different depending on where ya live.
Reason why I sped up Green Hill’s music is to avoid a copyright claim.

I like how for Smash broa melee they're using the uekawa sonic design.
Smash remix also has a variant for classic sonic, which i think looks great. Its basically what sonic would have been on the saturn.

I wouldn’t say they were going to appear. It’s more that Naka and Kojima wanted them, but were too late. It would have to have crossed Salurai’s mind beforehand
