Now THAT is how you do a tutorial video. Props to you mate. Quick, clear, felt like we were in the same room having a chat. Freaking awesome stuff.
Not only can you get the pull weight down but you get to keep the gold trigger.
One thing to note with the adjustability of the stock spring is that the Allen screw isn’t even touching the spring without at least 2 threads engaged because the spring is larger than the threaded hole. It seems like the set screw isn’t even doing anything from the factory if it is barely engaged on the top of the spring, so all you can do is make it heavier from the factory and not lighter. All the more reason to get a spring kit.
I've had excellent results from MCARBO parts in my RUGER PC chassis carbine and now I'm ordering this part for my Browning X-Bolt Pro (CF stock & Cerakoted stainless barreled action). Currently my factory trigger is down to 2,79 pounds average with that WHEELER gauge you are using. I think 2 pounds would be just right. Thanks for this instructive guide.
Great info! I have 2 X-bolts. I removed the the head screw all the way and measured the trigger pull, it was just under 3.5 pounds. You confirmed my suspicion of Browning not allowing a lighter trigger pull without additional adjustments. Thanks for the video, it was extremely helpful.
Just ordered for my XBolt mountain pro- Had this spring in my hells canyon and it performed flawlessly 👌👌👌
I used the exact tools you did. Took me 3 mins without removing the stock. Used a good light and was gentle and the old spring popped right out. Great instruction. Haven’t been able to measure the trigger yet but feels lighter.
Nice instructional, took me ~1hr to go slow and follow along. Spring made a big improvement to the weight of my trigger pull. I was about to buy the timmney drop in when I decided I'd try this for
Great tutorial, fantastic production...real solution and improvement
Thank you! This made it very easy! Took about an hour to tinker and not break anything. I went from 5.5lbs factory set, to 2.25-2.5lbs! Feels very crisp but I didn't notice much difference loosening the tension screw and didn't wanna push my luck too far, even with the lock tight. 2.4lbs was average regardless but I am very pleased with that for such a cheap DIY modification.
That was a great video. Thank you for your efforts.
Great video ✌✌
Perfect timing! About to pick up my second X-Bolt and will be replacing both trigger springs with these! Excited to try them out!
Awesome! Looking forward to hearing your trigger pull results!
Ordered - thanks.
Excellent video, extremely helpful. I just ordered mine thanks to this tutorial.
Super slick installation process, thanks again. My trigger pressure is about 1lb.7oz . Worth every penny and the experience.
Great video, I'm sold. Just ordered one
Thank you MCarbo. I had previously adjusted the stock spring set up with the set screw on my new X Bolt and I was down to about a 3.75 lb pull weight.
With the new spring from MCarbo I am down to 2.5 lb and then quite pleased.
I do want to share that I was unable to get the action and barrel separated from the stock because I think the glass betting is extremely tight on my new firearm. So, I was able to extract the spring using the technique illustrated in this video without separating the trigger group at all. I don't know if that caused a little bit more frustration but I seem to be able to manipulate the stock spring out with some patience, and after a while it did pop out. I will further note that the force I needed to compress the stock spring was more than I presumed and learned from this video. Perhaps some of you will find that useful.
So, maybe other users will not have to tear apart their rifles quite as far as it appears one has to in this video. Nevertheless the video was extremely helpful and gave me the confidence to tackle this project.
My advice to others is to make sure you have good lighting, good magnification, a good work area, the right tools, and a bit of patience.
Got mine on order.
this spring is just what I need (x2), and a great! tutorial.
Awesome as always! Just replaced mine today. Way better than factory and only cost $20. Also replaced my Winchester model 70 spring. Night and day difference.
Had problems getting the stock spring out but finally got it . Easy install and gauging low 2 's on the trigger pull. Locite drying over night and testing at the range tomorrow.
Damn nice video, going to order triggers for both my XBolts. Was nervous about doing my trigger springs but after seeing this video, definitely dropping my pull weights to 2.0-2.5 lbs
Great video. I used Vibratite on mine instead of blue loctite. It is the same strength. But unlike blue loctite you don’t have to reapply it every time you adjust the screw. I set mine at 2 lbs. Torque the action screws at 35 inch pounds. I have the Target McMillan stock model. It is the earlier model. So it had the trigger that would only go down to 3lbs. So great affordable upgrade.
My X-Bolt Western Hunter is in the low 2's to even high 1s. I will probably crank it a little higher so it maintains over 2 lb pulls.
Ill give it a try. If I can get my Xbolt Below 2lbs, that would be perfect.
These are pretty nice. I got mine in the mail just a few days after ordering. Pretty impressive with all the delays and out of stocks for most gun supplies. Got mine installed it's it's just shy of 2lbs. I would have loved to be around 1.5lbs but I'm still sub 2lbs. Can't beat that for the price of the spring!
Well done informative video! Will this same spring kit work with Abolt II as well?
Hi,
thanks for a good video, I have a question. I have two x bolt browning and tried to adjust the trigger pull but unfortunetley I couldn't adjust I turned screw to counter clock wise but it didn't lower the pull at all. Funny thing is I turned right and left and really it didn't work. do you have any suggestion why it didn't work?
So want one of those springs. Can we post one to New Zealand without triggering (see what I did there) gun parts issues
Oh, yeah and its the loudest trigger I've ever had. Any input on that? Shooting 300 Win mag there's a lot of powder in them shells and I wouldn't ever want to see any kind of malfunction with these bad boys.
Not suggesting that you do it but.... if you put the adjustment screw on allen key and run it across a file and bring down the tip where there isn't threads ,you'll put more threads in trigger and get a smidge lower pull.
Chris, how old is the rifle you used for the full install? I have a Browning Hunter Left Hand, wooden stock, manufactured in summer 2019. Would it be just the opposite for removal/replacement of the trigger assembly, and would the bolt stop be on the opposite side from this one? I'd guess that everything else would be the same. Have a spring on order.
Tools needed @ 6:40 =
1/8" punch
3/32" punch
1/16" punch
bench block
hammer / mallet
5/32 Allen key (aka hex wrench)
5/64 Allen key (aka hex wrench)
Blue 242 Loctite
pick (or something to remove factory wax)
microtip flat head screwdriver
safety glasses
Thanks for a great product
Installed spring with the help of your video
3 threads showing = 2.5#
Perfect for me
I hope you sell a million
Do you have a video for the Abolt3??
What happens if I make that hole bigger with a dremel tool
I have slight forward and backward play in my trigger, although it seems to fire correctly. Is this normal, or should I be concerned?
Is this the same as x bolt max triggers??
I want a 3 pounds pull but on the oem sear spring is almost completely out and I don't like it... What is the range of your spring? 1.5 to 4 ish?
Great video. Do you know what the torque specs Are for the 2 screws that hold the trigger guard on
snug, since it doesn't really have to be really tight. Just snug them down.
I do realize that this video is really old. Please keep in mine not to over tighten the trigger guard screws as it can interfere with your Bolt and clip/magazine. I over tighten mine, and both issues happen to me. The bolt was stiff, and the magazine did not want to eject or clip in properly.
Go have some fun.
35 inch pounds.
Why do you need to take the trigger off the gun. You pulled the spring out of the hole that’s already visible
im not a gun expert, but does changing the trigger pull weight affect the pressure of the pin hitting the cartridge?
No impact. The firing pin spring is completely unaffected by this modification.
Does anything change with the hells canyon models?
No change. They said clean the cerekote off but there was no overspray on mine that needed removed. Set mine up just like the video. Breaking right at 2 lbs
@@tacokiller101 awesome! thanks
Do I have to remove the pins and trigger mechanism to get the spring out? In the original it looks like you just took the spring out and never actually took the pins out. I'd rather leave the pins alone if possible!
You don't have to remove the trigger assembly to do the install. You can use a similar method Chris uses in the video to push the spring out the front hold and use a dental pick to pull it out completely.
What happens if you just remove the set screw without changing the spring?
Will it hurt the gun?
@@statenmorgan962 you can remove it but don't shoot it without
Doesn’t hurt it, it’s just a pin.
Bro
Fuck that royally pain in the ass stock spring 😂
Too much selling. I was interested but struggled to watch to the end.
I bought one, put a spring in, still almost 3 lbs. These triggers are junk
Are they really junk I ordered a gun please don’t tell me I made a ,istake
@@stevenm2062 my opinion they are but I like light triggers
Yeah me too The quality of the trigger is great but it’s just heavy
I have an xbolt hunter and I have not done this update yet but have backed my set screw out and the more I have broken the gun in the lighter the trigger has got and I'm used to a 2.75 lb trigger I'm guessing mine is not far from 3 pounds but it is actually a great feeling trigger felt stiff at first but the more I shoot it the better it gets. Still thinking about ordering one of these!
this presenter has a lot of words and uses them all....I long for the days of brevity ;-)
And yet you seem to have listened to none of them. The whole point of this video (as he states in the very beginning and again at the end) is to make a lengthier more detailed version of the very brief and to-the-point original 7-minute video.
@@daffyduck5351 I agree, and not to mention, he's the CEO of the company, and he's promoting HIS products along with the presentation. So, he goes very far into depth, not everyone is a gunsmith like Letters2Elliott, I guess, and I learned quite a bit from him. Yes, he's repetitious, but so what, if you missed it the first time, he tells you again.
