  • After getting stuck in the ditch last time with an open rear differential it was time to try a lunch box locker. We put in a PowerTrax LockRight Automatic positive-locking differential in the Nissan D21 rear end and the result was substantially better traction. Still needed 4wd to get thru the mess after 3 days of rain.
Costs $255 dollars for the locker, $40 worth of fluids, & $5 for a new seal. Total cost was right about $300. Total time was about 4-5 hours and this was the first time installing a locker. Completely worth it.

Weights in the bed may solve that problem

Filling up the tool box on the back helps too. We haven't played in the mud much, but next time maybe some cinder blocks back there for traction.
