  • Welcome back to the channel! Thanks for even clicking! Today we are finishing up our 240sx turbo kit from CXRacing! We ordered some parts from Amazon and CXRacing to fill in our missing pieces to our turbo system! Unfortunately, on our first test drive our 30 year old motor/head gasket couldn’t handle what little we were throwing at it and blew our piston rings and/or head gasket! Not to worry tho! This just means more content for the channel and we will now be building a full race engine with forged internals, upgrade the valve train and add a 240sx OEM intake swap to install bigger fuel injectors so be sure to SUBSCRIBE to see that in up coming videos! Thanks for your time, enjoy the video and have a good day!

    This is fantastic. Back in 2000, I wanted to turbo my 1997 Hardbody. Something original, as everyone was rollin’ in civics. They quoted me $8,000. Haha.

    This why I’m afraid to turbo my KA34DE engine on my 1970 Datsun 521 to avoid breaking the stock engine parts.
    But I’m happy with reliable 165 hp for daily driving & don’t plan on racing Mustangs

    The pop was probably a leen pop. This is why people swap for a 240 intake to run top feed injectors. Get you some good pistons. Gap the rings and run 8psi until you can get an ecm like a mspnp.
    After that it’s just some fuel system upgrades and you can make 450whp reliably.

      @@ozokudori5419 that’s because I can tell he’s soft by the way he’s replying to comments. And yes, the ECM like MS is the only right advice you gave on your post. He doesn’t need pistons, he shouldn’t “run 8psi” till you get an ecm, whatever that means, and he certainly will not make nor should make 450whp “reliably” with just pistons and fuel.

    Last owner hit a deer and pushed in the rad support and hood. Sorry about your motor. With a turbo, you need a larger ring gap, and lower compression or... well you know.

    I don’t mean to come off rude, but what did you think was going to happen turbocharging an engine with no fuel/ignition management? You’re adding a massive amount of air into an engine, but 0 added fuel to compensate. The most important part of a forced induction build is the tuning. Whether it’s a cheap eBay build or high dollar quality build, they will equally blow up the same way with no engine tuning. Spend the extra money for bigger injectors, a bigger fuel pump, and most importantly Megasquirt and dyno tuning when you fix the engine and you are going to be much happier in the long run. Don’t listen to anyone telling you to run X psi on stock ecu or use a rrfpr. It’s all bullshit and a waste of your money and time. Good luck and post questions if you need help.

    • @Aldama5523
      @Aldama5523  Před rokem +2

      I was expecting it to work because it has been done plenty of times before. Any engine can be turbocharged and handle a certain amount of boost before more fuel is needed. I wanted to try it but it didn’t work for me. The engine is simply 30year old and never been opened. Be sure to subscribe and watch the full rebuild! Forged internals have been ordered, hopefully I drop off the engine block at a machine shop this week and we’re going to full build my KA. I haven’t seen anyone making videos doing a full build.

    • @TWIRKNOLOVE
      @TWIRKNOLOVE Před rokem

      @@Aldama5523 Everyone who has ‘done it before’ did so using a rrfpr which is an extremely crude and archaic way of controlling fuel for x amount of air forced into the cylinder. It’s fine if the engine is 30 years old. What’s important is your air fuel ratio and it was 100% lean. Building an engine with forged internals will only put resistance against this same issue. You’re still going to wear it down and ruin it without proper tuning. Put your money into tuning, not forged internals. Or both at least.

      He will learn soon enough, I give it a day at most. Its already has a ton of blow by just idling & it's missing probably because he has his plug wires draped across the exhaust housing. The ecu can't even control the fuel at idle. The intercooler is being blasted with heat from the radiator & fans & he also has no way of controlling fuel pressure vs boost so its just overcoming the fuel pressure causing it to become even leaner... no offence to the guy but it's not something you want to do unless your willing to trash your ride and have money to spare. At this point hes still a grand worth of parts and weeks of labor away of having a tunable truck... We all start somewhere though, thumbs up for actually trying something instead of just talking about it...
