S13 head really opened it up top end stock Ka truck heads aren't made for top end there more for midrange

I also like how he avoids the handbrake like the plague so he doesn’t scrub too much of that speed he had to work so hard for.

I love my hardbody. Have owned it for 30 years now.
I have an 86 1/2 that I still drive daily. Has 374K miles now - original engine and 5-spd transmission.
The way this thing dances during drift, the power level and the noise reminds me of an 86 corolla.
Just gotta throw it into those corners!

Hardbody.... Rb swap w/ the trans and diff from said Rb car. Might even get lucky and have the driveshaft fit (doubtful though)

Now that's the kind of truck setup that forces you to work on maintaining momentum and late apex, high entry speed drifts where you never lift the accelerator while ripping through the corners. Reilly's truck makes good sense as a beginner drift missile, what a guy! Lol!
A fine lesson in cheap slow cars driven hard being more fun than fast cars driven slowly/gently.
Proving again that you do not need displacement for enjoyment. And, mine is slower, burns oil excessively right now but it's an awesome little truck. Does exactly what it's asked to do. Give me smiles.
Ive been in the truck a few times with Riley, dude makes it look so easy and is super humble about his ability to drive it. Loved the video guys!

i got a mighty max "drift truck". has the stock 4g64 sohc except with a larger cam lol. Still slow af tho

@@therobb5738 yeah! it has a roll cage, hydro brake, bigger wilwood brakes in rear and electric fans. I wanna do the eclipse head swap at some point.

I remember growing up watching Riley drift. the amount of love for this truck is unreal, sadly i moved north of Edmonton and i miss all the CSCS's and other fun things.
That thing seems to have the Miata deal to it. Just an AMAZING goosebump inducing sound with a 100% raw feel. I have many iconic JDM cars, including a Miata....I want a hardbody drift truck NOW.

Before fast and furious I drove a similar one to deliver chinese food... it was so low you couldnt fot a pack of cigs under the frame and the bolts for the lowering blocks would take chunks out of speed bumps.....it slid around corners like a spongey brick but it was so much fun!!!! Thanks for bringing back the memories
Loved watching this!! I have a 91 too no power steering or Air conditioning shes ugly but its been good to me. Back in 91 my Dad helped his co worker to get the truck.He co signed for the loan......the next day she passed away. I remember going with him to the dealer to return it or work something out but the Bank didnt care.
Its a good thing they didnt take it back once I was able to drive I took it off his hands lol.The damn thing wont give up Everything is pretty much still stock since 91 except for Tires, brakes, Fluids( some of them) thermostat and My ignition switch some rookies tried to steal it but couldnt take it.

I drift a 1980 long bed chevy truck ( my icon) sbc 400 built 8" drop in the rear 4 1/2' drop in the front gt drop shocks. Long live drift trucks. I have wall tapped it cuz its so long. But i love it!!and i think its funner than a 240sx.
I've seen and heard of weird drift missiles but this Sir has to be on the top of my list 👍
Steel plates in the bed help with grip and not looping out, no hydro (yet) all power initiation's, it takes alot to figure out angle with trucks specially a full size😉😎
Put that 400 in a s10 blazer.. shorter and more balanced weight.

I was dissapointed when he popped the hood lol. I have a D21 aswell , its got a built single cam, ARP studs top and bottom, Manley Rods, Arias Pistons, ACL race bearings, billet GTX3071R turbo, 800cc injectors, 3" straight pipe, runs on a microsquirt that I tuned myself. Makes 400whp on 21 psi definitely not slow.
When he was drifting, I caught myself swiveling in my seat. See you guys next year.

After a tire pressure and brake bias adjustment I was able to get it down to a 1:27.3! I think there's still a lot more time in it as well
