Any other cheaper more basic and small HUD with only speedometer display, can you recommend?
These HUD makers just need to make a film they can apply to the entire windshield (like front windshield tint) and have it look completely integrated. Would be a lot cheaper than a specialized HUD windshield too.

Here is another HUD czcams.com/video/z-m_ez2a8o4/video.html that also supports RPMs However remember OBD2 data is based on frames, which limits how much information can be pulled and how fast it can be sampled from the vehicle, which is why typically we see gauges for racing purposes tap directly (physically connected) to car electrical system's wiring (ignition and other sensors) for cases where a faster response is required. Dependent on the car as well. I was seeing reviews for OBD reading dashboard apps on phones that were complaining of data packet rate related lag, but from my comparatively more modern (2018) Audi, the data packets were frequent and granular enough that lag wasn't as much of an issue.

I need your advice. I need a mirror dash cam - primary use case to record everything, but also to be used as a primary digital mirror, with the camera inside of the car.
I have Chevrolet Volt 2017, so there is a quite large box where the mirror is attached.
I'm currently stuck between 4 Dashcams:
Urvolox OEM 12 inch dashcam
Wolfbox G840S
Wolfbox G850
Wolfbox G880
As I have tinted back glass, I need the rear camera to be very good at low light and have minimum reflections.
Please let me know which one you think is the best.
P.S. Why Urvolox? It looks the same as G880, however comes with an OEM Mount, however in not sure if the quality is different.

Hi iFarAway! and thank you! ah yes you narrow them down to some good choices. Here is my assessment, I have not reviewed the Urvolox or the G840S so I can't compare those so we are down to the G850 and G880. The G850 is a dual channel dash cam where the G880 is a triple channel dash cam with detached cameras. So I would say go for the G850 if you only need 2 channels and don't need detached cameras. If you need 3 channels or detached cameras then go for the G880. Hope this helps, Cheers!

Is it a case of either or with regard to the information/power source? It seems to me that if you use OBD then nav information is not available.

Is the C1 still the best option around its price point? I've seen some other models(C3, C5, etc) but they're a little more expensive.

Hello, i have an Electrical Vehicle (Kia EV6) and what is vert strange is when i plug the OBD port, the systèm tell me that my car is not Recognise so i use it with GPS.. I can't find a HUD for electric car..
Hi Levy! Yeah EV vehicles don't typically follow OBD2 protocols (since the OBD standard was designed for ICE cars). So if running a HUD on an EV I would recommend using the standard auxiliary power adapter instead of the OBD2 adapter. I have a 2020 Corolla and the OBD2 readout seems to lag a bit compared to the dash

Hi Alex, great video. I was almost buying the Hudway drive but this was too big for my car, so this C1 seemed being could fit but now see it has not maps or night vision. Could you recommend any other options with such capabilities?

I've heard by a mechanic that it's dangerous to plug things into your OBD port on a permanent basis are you aware of any such ideas and have you had any problems?

hello sir :) i use this one too and i have one question. 11:00 in this mod can i adjust RPM range? like 9000. 6 is too low for gasoline car you know?
Hi! The RPM alarm can be adjusted from 1000 to 8000, you can see that setting at around the 6:20 mark. The RPM setting here would depend on preference and car, some cars like my Cobra shift best around 6K where on my GT350 I can go as high as 8K, so it just depends on your car's engine. Cheers!
Will this finally be the one that works properly with a PHEV like the Volt? The ICE always seems to screw things up when running in electric mode.
Hi Michael! yeah unfortunately many EVs and PHEV do not play well with OBD2 port devices. OBD2 devices use the OBD2 standard which is mandatory for ICE vehicles where it is not required for EVs (however each EV manufacturer seems to use the DLC connector to some degree but with different approaches. So the challenge would be that the device interfacing to the car using the DLC connector needs to be inline with the EV car's communication protocol and power setup, which unfortunately unless each manufacturer shares this information (currently most is proprietary) we are not going to see many OBD2 devices that also fully work with EV's. Another solution I can think of would be for EV's to agree on a standard on how to use the DLC connector and then the aftermarket community can create products around it. Hope this helps, Cheers!

Hi thanks for the information, can you please make a video on how to use speed alarm for example the road speed limit is 40 km per hour and you are going 50 km per hour so the system should alarm you you're going over the speed limit?
Hi EasyPizi! Yes you can change the speed for when the systems considers you are "speeding". You can change like all the other settings by clicking on and adjusting the speed or up down with the rocker switch (By default it's set to 150km/h) Cheers!
Thanks for the reply, that way I know it can be changed the speed limit of 150 km more or less. I meant how to set up an auto alarm when the roads speed limit is for example 50 km per hour or 80 km or more or less.... I hope you understand what I mean:)
@@ABCD42590 Hi Easy Pizi! Correct, you can adjust the Speed Alarm setting and change it's default value of 150. The C1 will let you adjust it between 5 to 200 km/h. So it could be set at 50 or 80 since that value is between the acceptable range of 5-200. Cheers!

Hi Mustafa! Normally the OBD2 adapter only get's power when the vehicle is On. However your installer can confirm if your OBD port has power all the time or is switched. Cheers!

Hi! If your cigaretter lighter plug turns off and on when you turn on and off you car, then the HUD will come on and off with the car. Re: c1 obd2 is the screen bright enough and are the numbers large enough to see?
Hi! You can see the size of the numbers during the test drive portion of the video, also remember the size will vary depending on which screen you select (some have smaller or larger font as shown in the video) and also how far away you sit from the HUD (I drive about middle, not to close and not to far from the steering wheel that is was the angle it was filmed from). Same with brightness, you can see how bright it is during the test drive portion of the video (I show both test drive footage at day and at night), hope this helps. Cheers!

Alex, how do you change the colors of the speed readout? Right now it goes yellow at around 60 MPH when it should be 80 MPH.

Is it true that this device is not compatible with diesel engine vehicles?
Hi Hraun! You can use it. As explained on the video, this HUD is a standalone device with built in features that do not require interfacing to your car (but it does require that your car has a cigarette lighter port for power). Hope this helps, Cheers!

This would depend on your vehicle, if it has an OBD2 port and if it's a standard 12V (some larger vehicles use a 24V system which could be the reason why you were told it may not work with your vehicle with the OBD2 port) If you car does have a 24V system then you would want to use a standard USB power supply to power the unit. @@AlexAutoFun Wouv, that was a great clarification. I was wondering why some cars are not compatible with it. Because it shouldn't have been an engine problem. My car is Insignia B Grand Sport 1.6 CDTI, I will try to find out the voltage value of the OBD socket and I hope I can find it :) I would like to ask one more question if I may... I am considering either C1 or C2 version. Regarding the first one (C1), it seems like LED screen is a bit tall and it blocks the mirror glass from the bottom as far as I can check from the videos and pictures. On the other hand C2 (and also C3) has a bit smaller led screen frame. Hence the mirror glass is not affected by it (If I am not wrong). Did you have the same issue while using C1?
@Harun Mirsad Günday Hi Harun! Unfortunately I have not reviewed the C2 or the C3 so I can comment on those. But regarding the C1 you can see how it looks in this video as far as how the projector looks in front of the clear reflective portion. While it doesn't get in my way, I would imagine that if the reflector is not aimed correctly at the user, the screen can be either partially blocked or fully blocked (same if the seat height is not adjusted correctly, the driver can potentially not see the HUD) So I do recommend adjusting the reflector and seat height before driving to ensure you have a good unobstructed view. Hi! good question, I think HUDs are definately not for everyone. Some find them very helpful and adjust to using them fairly quickly, and some other people don't find use for them or find them annoying. The easiest way to experience a HUD before buying one to see if you would like it would be to test drive a new C8 or a new Mercedes S Class, the new Tundra & Sequoia and other high end vehicles like the BMW X5 also have a HUD from the factory so you can experience one in real life. Hi Syeed! yep the information will be displayed in your line of sight so it will be in the way of your view of the road.
