NASA & SpaceX to Send Dragon and Starship On The Riskiest RESCUE Missions
The spaceflight is well known for its high safety rating.
As of February 2024, 681 people have reached the altitude of space but only 19 astronauts have died in-flight accidents. It means a low rate of death of roughly 3%.
However, everything will get more serious in the future when the space tourism era blooms, especially when SpaceX Starship may get to 1000 flights per year.
NASA & SpaceX to Send Dragon and Starship On The Riskiest RESCUE Missions
It's reasonable as the more people who fly in space, the higher the likelihood of something going wrong.
To prepare for that bad scenario, Nasa officials have devised an idea called: a space rescue mission centered on the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft.
While the project is still on paper, debates around its feasibility have emerged in the space community, raising many issues that need to be resolved to make this idea possible.
Find out everything in today's episode of Techmap.

Like the rescue fleets in the ground or ocean, the emergency rescue mission for space refers to any system that allows for the rescue or escape of personnel from situations that endanger human life in a spaceflight operation.

Thanks great video, enjoyed watching.
Thanks your huge support!
👍✔🚀
To have a Dragon ready to launch requires it to be on standby. The metal used on the ship is 304 SS and is prone to rusting under the salt air conditions found at the cape. They need to build a rescue ship out of 316 SS to prevent this from happening.
Interesting idea 👍👍👍
Or staged in special warehouses that wrap around the launch set ups
Multiple ships would be necessary the more launches accumulated.
Here you go how about creating a USCG. that way maybe the government would be willing to pick up some of the tab maybe SpaceX could come up with a design that would work for the Coast Gard so they could make all kinds of rescues. I'm thinking for the future.
If you had an expandable space station inside starship think how big it could expand to when deployed
Nasa once came up with the idea to use Starship as the space station
3% means 3 persons for every 100 man trips! That’s not low at all!
ISS should have a craft docked to it always, escape pod.
Are there any spare docks?
simple and easy safe???
inflatable modual with a dual link at each end?
# Nasa space x at front?? Soyos at other.
#connect to trobled vehicle take crew and then travel
dock with iss
or link and push to iss and then use transfer
modual
A rescue is all dependent on the orbit of those needing rescue. The ISS might just be out of reach.
Dragon goes to LEO, no?
@@mike_w-tw6jd I was referring to orbital differences. If the rescue has to take place in far different orbit than the ISS, the Crew Dragon might not have adequate fuel or delta-v to reach the ISS. Otherwise there should be no issue reaching the ISS.
Didn’t SpaceX discontinue the dragon human capsule in anticipation of starship… they’re not building anymore. They’re gonna keep the four that they have.
My understanding is that SpaceX did discontinue production of crew dragon but didn’t cannibalize the production line so they could produce more Dragon’s if needed
I thought there’s one (#5) more in the pipeline, due to debut next year.
" April 11 One thousand nine hundred seventy"
I will change this, thanks
I’ll bet this is a bot program generated by SX.😊
Is this a bot production? There is some information but at the same time nothing is to the point.
No. We are not bots. But thanks your feedback, that is my mistake. I will improve that
@@techmap9 But in the year of two thousand twenty four we do use AI for the speech, Unless your honestly saying you say the year " April 11 One thousand nine hundred seventy" Type the year out next time to avoid the AI just repeating a number and not a date.
One Thousand Nine Hundred and Seventy.....It this computer generated speech?
Sorry for this problem
The only concept of emergency rescue ship is the Dream Chaser. Its not only question of minute takeoff, but of landing logistics.
Hold on, hold on. Dream Chaser hasn't flown yet, and is not certified for crew ! In fact the available Dream Chaser to be launched soon is a cargo vessel and not even designed for crew !
