I understood him perfectly. His methods are well explained, scientifically accurate, and precise. No idea why it was hard for you to follow. Perhaps he could do a video where he talks real slow and uses simple language for the slower-minded viewers...

And of course Guy didn't invent hair colour or colour theory. He doesn't claim to. But his application and methods are ground-breaking. That is why he tours worldwide giving lectures and tutorials. I respect his knowledge and professionalism.

@@peeblesv2369 I think he backcombs to make the dyed strains of hair look even more natural. By back combing you get a more natural, more "chaotic" look. You also catch less hair what makes the look more interesting and it looks like highlights that you naturally have in your hair.
I hope this was helpful but if anyone else knows better feel free to let me know why he does it

I appreciate that Guy always shows how different color appears in different lighting. It's so important. I also appreciate how transparent he is with the process and always going back to basics. He is such an inspiration and a great teacher. 8 years in the industry and although times can be discouraging, watching his videos reassures me that this is what I love to do. ❤️

I didnt either and i watched it from beginning to end...and also thought that was a lot of coloring...a lot of chemicals...and I only could imagine how much that would cost...her hair come out beautifully and it shows his talents....but I cant see myself putting my natural hair thru all those layers of coloring....maybe just two layers.....

I wish more clients would understand the time, knowledge, and work that goes Into stuff like this. I work in a chain salon and we get random people showing up with pictures of stuff like this who have obviously chemically altered hair asking for a price. We tell them whether or not they’d be able to make it to that end goal and that it may take multiple sessions and they can’t come in at 5pm to start that. They get so upset about price and that they can’t have it instantly. I’d love for them to see your videos or other stylists posts and see that it may like more than 4 hours+. Your work is gorgeous and you put so much time and care into it. Thank you for posting!

I love it! I've attended many Schwarzkopf training classes and they were really into layering colors. All of this makes sense, when you consider how much we shampoo our hair. So, as she washes her hair, it'll look better and not fade so fast.

This really helped, you're a great and generous teacher! Thank you for your wonderful videos. That is so true that some people have dark hair and you have to lift it just to get it rid of the red tones before you get your goal shade. I did this today, lifted toned and then toned again. Some might have said why, but I know that in the end I got the shade I'd been aiming for. Btw as always beautiful hair 🤗 look forward to the next videos xx

Most educated knowledge I have ever heard or seen anyone have Guy Tang. Her hair looks Beautiful, Healthy, & I love the collagen informatives. You are extremely intelligent, love what you do,& truly care about your customers. From NY, All over California, San Francisco, to LA I have had so many lie, act as if they know what they're doing to literally damage my hair. I repaired it with collagen & keratin, & finally got it back to it's healthy beautiful original long length. I even had one chop it off from mid thigh length. My bangs were the length of my chest & a so called stylist chop it off to my shoulder blades. Various people are all talk with no action, care, & have huge ego to talk crap, lie, & not care. Where are you. I'd love to have you do mine as well as the new colors & styles I created.

So from my understanding, when the colorant says “cool blonde” or “ash blonde”, they have purple/blue pigments instead of having actual blond colored pigments. (the name of the dye isn’t the name of the pigment but the result)
So on gray hair, will those dyes appear as purple/blue instead of blonde?

I can’t find a colorist who will duplicate this process because it takes too much time. I ask for it, and am willing to pay for it...then I get in the chair and they speed through it. The end result is chunky, streaky, brassy...awful. I finally just went back to my natural color and gave up.

It is hard when you do booth rental and buy all your products and use 7 tubes of $8 color...clients don’t factor that in when they ask about price...plus to even have the inventory and the space to store it...Pinterest gives clients all these pics but doesn’t mention the costs ! Guy, why do you back-comb? I found this so fun and interesting. My hearing is not the greatest when it's echoey in your shop. Some hanging plants will help tone down the echo in your videos did you know that? LOL anyway this turned out so fascinating and absolutely beautiful as usual. And I also love your arm Decor LOL

back-combing helps with blending colors together. back-combed hair are brushed out in the sink and in this way they are mixed with new higlights. well, at least I was told in hairdressers school to do so
@@eglevitkute2832 why thank you so much for your nice comment. Sometimes I have trouble hearing and I'm a mouth reader LOL. That sounds like a really awesome way to blend. I've seen it done with scissors fingers and I've done that for my own hair.
