    I noticed a transition from a very different topic base to that of urbanism on your channel. I applaud you for sharing your experiences. I’m curious though how you decided to make the shift & what you hope to provide viewers. I’m also an urbanist with a background in architecture & urban design so if you’re interested in considering other ideas than what everyone else is already doing, LMK.

      City planning type topics has always been interesting to me! i grew up playing a ton of city building games and the like. Ive always wanted to do youtube but struggled w bit with the kind of content I want to make and sticking with it, as you can tell from my older videos.
      But to answer your question, as ive watched urbanism related content over the past few years ive realized that there isnt really much of a voice from the south US on the platform, esp Atlanta so I feel like i can offer an interesting perspective. Im still figuring but the style of video right now, the next video will be a different vibe as im experimenting. Thanks for watching i appreciate it!

      @@nathandavenI love these videos, there’s not a lot of urban planning videos on South East USA and its very nice to have a channel talk about the city I live near

    Great job. Good on-camera presentation. Nice homemade B-roll. Good sound quality with well-thought-out content.
    Content suggestions:
    Lament how they ruined the Braves Stadium with a plea to create shade (especially for Sunday afternoon games).
    Explain why Cobb County does not have MARTA (hint White Flight Racism).
    Advocate for light rail from Columbus to Newnan to Atlanta.
    I gave you a Sub. Will follow regularly.

    I love this, I love living in the city of Atlanta and I vow to not move to the suburbs lol! Seeing everyone on foot and on wheels and talking to each other is so awesome! We should do this at least once a month if we can.

      I plan to move from a suburb into Atlanta. What part of Atlanta do you think is the best for walking and biking?

    • @concernedcitizen6572
      @concernedcitizen6572 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@avo.avocadoProbably close to Inman Park or Olf Fourth Ward or Poncey Highlands. Really anywhere near the beltline is good for American standards.

    Haha we lived in Decatur during the traffic calming and I was like OMG EWWW! 1) because I was tied to a car against my will 2) the planters are just atrocious!
    Moved to a very bike-friendly CO town and now we're nearly car-free. Looking back, they should put those planters in literally every street and parking spot in metro atlanta. People need to walk, it's really awkward the difference in obesity when you get off the plane visiting atlanta.

      Hahaha so true! That sounds sweet, I haven't been to Colorado yet but I plan to! I will say downtown Decatur is quite nice objectively, it's the only suburb with a MARTA station in the middle and downtown is walkable. But yeah most people still drive in Atlanta and traffic is worse than ever despite all the density happening

      Welcome to Colorado! Hopefully it was as good or better than you expected.

      I hope that there are also shops in the neigbourhoods, and a supermarket, so people can bike for their groceries. It is so much nicer to live in those neigbourhoods, and also for the kids. I am from the Netherlands, so i hope you will enjoy life as i do, in my town in the Netherlands.

    I came through there about 30 minutes before they closed the road. It could've turned into a verrrrry annoying day for me. Lol. Still though, love seeing this in Atlanta. Its so healthy for cities of all sizes, everywhere.

    7:15 "Decatur's planters on West Howard Avenue having a bad week" ... seems to me that the planter would have saved a cyclist or pedestrian from a fatal crash -- I count that as a good thing. Also, don't you hate it when a bright, stationary box just pops out of nowhere?

    5:51 It’s a very true argument😂 I’m all for better transit but these urbanists are just so biased. If this is your biggest problem, you’re living too comfortably lol.
    Car drivers aren’t evil.. they are just trying to get somewhere. You’re not going to convince anyone by scolding them lol.

    • @concernedcitizen6572
      @concernedcitizen6572 Před 7 měsíci

      Neither he nor anyone else in these comments said anything like "car drivers evil" calm down lol. The reality is we are all basically forced to use these dangerous death traps since public transit and walkable areas are very small in number in our country. Plus he laid out how when these super rare events happen they normally carve out tons of exceptions anyway.
