I have the AmpliFi HD kit which I bought 3 months ago. Very easy to use, satellite plugs are brilliant with no loss of signal (1 in front room and 1 upstairs in the back office). Highly recommend if you have the money
Thanks for your review. The Instant kit looks like the solution for me. I have a home office separate to the house, where the router lives, a CAT 5 cable has been pre-installed back up to the house specifically for an access point in the house. Not only do I want wifi throughout the house and garage, I am starting to set up some smart home devices which work entirely on WIFI and requires access to the internet. My current setup is a router central to the house, however the signal is too weak in some places for the smart switches to stay connected.
I have a Netgear Combo Modem/Router. Will the Amplifi HD work with this ? If so, What do I have to do where the Router isn't interfering with the Amplifi ?
Nice, concise and very helpful video. Thanks. I agree that it would be good to be able to mix & match components between the two systems. I’d like the opposite of you though, an HD router to get the 4 LAN ports for my wired stuff and an Instant satellite so that I could hard-wire the backhaul. Come to think of it though, you did say that they (both systems?) can operate in bridge mode so I assume that I could go with the Instant in bridge mode so that I still have the 4 LAN ports on my ISP’s router on the same subnet as the Amplifi WiFi (I have a critical client-server app that doesn’t work properly if the clients and the server aren’t all on the same subnet). I could then use the Amplifi Instant single LAN ports for a wired backhaul. Sounds as if this might work for me.
Hey :), love your videos. I am interested in amplifying our secure wifi system without losing the secure (security) part. Does this technology make one less secure in any way?
@@zero604 He means the Mesh points should also have an ethernet port - which would be nice for chaining ethernet-only devices off of them BUT I think that would make it a bit more clunky.
Anyone else having issues updating the firmware? I tried the app and it doesn’t work, I tried the physical router doesn’t work, and about to manually download it and usb it..
I have the hardware vpn, teleport. I like it but can be a bit slow and I get a good internet connection at home. The teleport is perfect when outside the home network.
I always desired Unify kit, but seem to keep going Netgear. Oh well, one can dream :-) Haven't tried mesh though, as I live in a tiny house, our coverage isn't too bad

The "Instant Kit"'s extender unit can act like a wireless bridge.

What kind of Wifi analyzer app did you use?
I still rock my Amplifihd ..I pair with a Watchguard T15...
So.. the instant wifi and hd mesh points are not compatible????
Do not understand why there is no ethernet port on the mesh point.
Can you mix and match the 2 systems? Like the amplifi hd as a router and the other as a mesh point..and not use the ugly wall plugs with magnets
Yes, this is how i have mine setup - Amplifi HD (Router) - Amplifi Instant (Mesh Point)
Aliphina the instant has to powered by Ethernet? Or does it come with a power cable to outlet?
I was wondering why you don't manage to hold still while you're speaking... jezz
I wish you had shown the browser option. Everyone shows the app.
If you have a 2 or 3 bedroom house. Why get this ?
Ubiquity really need to update this to 802.11ax with a dedicated 5ghz band for the mesh, and support for 1gb lan connections to the main hub
What's the max speed on lan?
@@nilloviz no idea what ram64man is talking about, the Mesh routers all support 1GB LAN. Also the Amplifi Alien is their WIFI 6 device (802.11ax).

So can you use the instant with the HD mesh together?
did you watch the video... yes, you need to run in bridge mode

Whats port forwarding like?
VPN performance any good through it?

Ya just subscribed - great vids

and Unify seem to actually do the IOT thing right with the app. Minimal, but all info needed, upgrades etc, looks like the complete package...
Dude, they are not "rooters" they are "routers". They do not root...they route.
Think the GB bit should be a giveaway here :D We reserve 'rowter' for the woodcutting/metalworking jigs. All the rest are routers.
I skip sponsors plugs
Average mbps
Rooter 😀🤪😜
John Longbow it’s uk
their touch screen quality , resolution , fonts , color look aweful :/
Router not rooter!! dammit
In the UK we pronounce it as 'rooter'.
Your voice makes me uncomfortable
