There is a line she says after the cut off that's important: "No matter what, you are still his mother, and I am not trying to take away anything from that."
The way she says "He's a runner." as if the reason he ran away from foster homes and came back to her was because of Michaels overwhelming love for her and not because foster homes are notoriously shitty abusive places to be.
I work at a girls’ home... let me tell you, “home” is ingrained in the soul from early infancy. They come from abusive, drug-addict, criminal offender parents, yet they prefer that home over the safe, warm environment we provide from them. A human being can barely cope with the notion that their birth family is damaging to them. But I agree, it’s not “love” Michael has for his mom.
Wrong. Have you ever been in a group home? I grew up in them and always ran. Once they got tired of me running they locked me up in a juvenile secure care facility. Juvenile prison til I was 18. I always ran to my mommy. She was toxic but the person I loved more then anything.

Samantha Cassell this movie is awesome, and well done. But it is done up for hollywood standards to sell. Many things about this movie have been argued with and disproved by "Big Mike" himself.
It's unsettling how proud she was that her son would always run away to "come find her" and "take care of her", like that was somehow his responsibility that he was living up to.
I don’t think it’s that. It’s not that she’s proud of him of being her caregiver. She’s proud because Michael is that kind of person. The kind who would do anything to protect and take care of the people he loves. She’s not proud that he felt obligated to become her caregiver. She’s proud that he’s a good and kind person.

It saddens me that kids like Michael are forced to be a parent to their drug addicted parents who made very selfish choices, no child should ever be forced into that situation. While I feel sad for parents like her, my heart truly goes out the those children, who are being set up for failure and heartbreak.
My dad went through that too. His mom loved him but she had problems with drugs, and his dad was an alcoholic. He had to grow up while he was still a kid and work since they didn’t have a lot of money.
Agreed. Sadly it’s not just kids like Michael. Even kids with wealthy parents often have to deal with abuse too, and it’s hard for people to accept that a kid can both be financially taken care of but emotionally deprived. Best to all the kids out there and parents who try their best.
I do believe that someone who is hooked on hard drugs has no business taking care of a kid and it's the selfless decision to put their life ahead of your own and let someone else have them until you get better. I have no kids of my own but I like to believe the love for your child would make you want to get clean and be part of their life.

This is a moment in the movie when Mama Leigh Anne showed her honor. Notice Michael's mother calls her son "Big Mike", but even though Michael is not there with them, Leigh Anne still calls him "Michael" because he told her he didn't like to be called Big Mike. I think, in this moment, Leigh Anne proved that she had both courage and honor in equal measure. She had courage because she chose to overcome her fears, and return to that rough, scary neighborhood, without Michael, to meet with Michael’s mother, and learn Michael’s history. In this moment, she was protecting Michael’s blindside. Leigh Anne has honor, because although the officer told Leigh Anne that because Michael was a ward of the state, she did not need his mother’s consent to become Michael’s guardian…just a judge’s order…this was not enough for Leigh Anne. She wanted to meet with Michael's mother, herself, and show her respect, from one mother to another, by letting her know that her son was safe, and that someone genuinely cared about him. Leigh Anne told her that "No matter what, you are still his mother, and I am not trying to take away anything from that."
This part was so deep i feel terrible for mike's mom and him even with her alcoholic problems that's awful that Michael had been through trauma like that at least he has another family that loves him and treats like their own despite his race and back ground histories.

For all of you that fell for this scene, Hollywood really pulled one over you!
Light Bringer what’s that supposed to mean ?
This was improvised by Hollywood. It never happened. They added this scene to add “emotional value” to it. This entire movie has been highly exaggerated by Hollywood.
That's why it's a drama movie not a documentary.
Was she clean at this point?

It's best moves I love
It's funny how she has time for drugs and making babies! And not getting help to get her live together to take care of her responsibilities to her children..... I see it all the time....... !
