    The 2020 Toyota Rush is Toyota's answer to the need for an affordable 7-seater SUV. It's based off the Toyota Avanza, but has been given the SUV treatment to make it look beefier. In this Filipino car review, we check out the 2021 Toyota Rush, to see if it is closer to the Avanza or an actual SUV. like the Fortuner. The Toyota Rush was the answer to Honda's BRV, and other MPVs that look like SUVs, like the Suzuki XL7, and the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross. On the Philippines, the Toyota Rush is one of the best selling vehicles in the country. I take this Toyota Rush for a test drive, to see what makes it so popular among Filipinos.
    The 2021 Toyota Rush gets 7 seats across all variants, and the price has remained the same. I noticed that the grill resembles the Honda CRV, and the body lines give it an SUV look. This is a Toyota Rush review. This is also a Toyota Rush drive impression.

    This is a very informative and balanced review, keep it up 👍! We've had our Rush for a year and a half now, for us it's neither a beefed up Avanza nor a baby Fortuner, it is the Toyota Rush, a sub-compact entry level SUV with a 5 Star Safety Rating. A body on frame design with a 220 mm. ground clearance, generous approach and departure angles suited for mild off-roading or city street flooding and potholes. The 1.5 liter engine is fuel efficient under 100 kph, we usually cruise at 40-90 kph range so it give us enough. We average 12 km/L although most of our driving is on mild traffic. What it lacks in power it compensates in fuel efficiency, safety, and practicality. 😊👍

      Sir, similar to my question to Sir Reygan, do you think a 1.8 liter engine will be more suitable to the Rush (similar to the one in the Corolla Cross)? Or at least as an additional option/variant? Thank you for your response :)

And yes, its definitely a family car. 🙏 for those who are saying its underpowered, subjective siya sa driving experience and purpose mismo ng car, eh kung gusto pala nila ng speed eh di bili sila ng sportscar tapod ikarera nila dito sa pinas. Hi, i like ur videos and reviews. I however noticed on several of ur test drives that u lack road courtesy. No hate here, but i believe u could show more discipline on ur test drives to serve as an example to ur viewers. U already r considered as an influencer, put it to good use. A bike rider was trying to cross the street on his feet using the ped crossing, instead of allowing him to pass, u just went ahead like he was not there and if u noticed, incoming traffic had to stop for him. It could have been a win win situatiom for everyone. U delaying him delayed others. This is not the first time, other vids show u not stopping or slowing down on ped xings despite people on the striped line wanting to cross. I remember another test drive in a two way street, u disregarded an incoming motorcycle bec u avoided a vehicle that stopped in front of u, u could have braked but chose to swerve and let the motorist avoid u

    Sir Reygan, based on reviews that I watched or read, the common 'complaints' against the Rush are: 1. lack of horsepower and torque (engine-related) and 2. stiff suspension.
    Sir, do you think a 1.8 liter engine will be more suitable to the Rush (similar to the one in the Corolla Cross)?
    Other than the engine and the suspension, I think the Toyota Rush is already a very good vehicle :)
    1. 5-star safety rating from the ASEAN NCAP
    2. high ground clearance
    3. appropriate width for tight roads and traffic
    4. 7-seats
    5. durability/longevity (based on Toyota's reputation)
    Thank you and God bless!

    • @lansangel
      @lansangel Před 2 lety +1

      Rush owner here of a 2018 E A/T... For me, the only complaint that I have with the vehicle is the lack of manual mode... The transmission is adaptive enough to match your shift habit when driving a manual... The engine is so far enough for me that I have the selector left in D and only use 3 2 and L when going downhill... IMHO, a 1.8L engine would be a bit powerful for the light body of the Rush... And for the suspension, I just leave the tire pressure at the recommended level, 34 F and 38 R, to have the suspension working and at the same time it lowers the suspension stiffness...

      It takes a while to build up speed, but it's pretty similar to other 7-seater ladder-frame MPVs in that regard. It's decent for daily use, but as a speed junkie, it's underpowered for me.

    Looks like an SUV because it is an SUV. (sub-compact though) It's based on the Daihatsu Terios which is a ladder frame SUV that explains the harsh ride. If you look on the driver or front passenger door jamb you will see a stamp saying "Daihatsu Motor Indonesia"
    and yeah mechanically similar to the Toyota Avanza/Daihatsu Xenia..

    Its not an MPV car , its SUV thats why it’s not as comfortable as Inova or xpander because this car is built for off Road , and its more looking like Baby Pajero than Baby fortuner, the worst thing about this car is very bad suspension ( hard) , and the noise of the engine from inside the cabin above 80 km/hour .. very noisy . And some plastic cover under the seats broken off after few passengers in few months using . It’s an overprice car for it’s quality the only good thing about this car is the nice looking design and it’s RWD makes this car good on a bad road and very economic for gasoline !

    Toyota Rush is not an MPV. It's categorized as an SUV because of its body-on-frame chassis as with Fortuner and LC.

      @litobulos2023 Před 3 lety +1

      misleading review for the categorization. It was reviewed as an MPV yet on 7:04, he said it right that it is SUV. TR is intended for city driving and can be felt economically with the prevailing heavy traffic in general. only a 1.5l hence i really do not expect this as a powerful unit used for racing. Still, the review is acceptable as he pointed out the features quote ok. Every brand has its plus and minus and you decide according to your preference. based on the review, i like the TR among its rivals. Apart from the features, the look of the TR is really pogi on all sides. and it is Loaded!

    It is actually one of the more reasonably priced Toyotas. 6 airbags + standard ESC at just over 1M pesos. Pangit nga lang imaneho dahil rebody lang siya na Avanza, which is 8+ years old. Pero ok din dahil 6 airbags and standard esc, good for those parents who want to buy a safe car for their children, but not good if the parents are going to drive it themselves.

    • @markjavier5536
      @markjavier5536 Před 2 lety

      I agree Sir. Kung family safety, the Toyota Rush is really good. If Toyota kaya will provide a bigger engine (ex. 1.8, similar to the Corolla Corss)? Baka magagawan din ng paraan ang suspension.

    • @brianroque7346
      @brianroque7346 Před 2 lety

      @@markjavier5536 honestly, I think the engine is fine enough without a load but i think what it desperately needs is an all-new redesign based on the DNGA or TNGA platform. Softer suspension upgrade can improve comfort & stability, but it will worsen handling which the Rush is already very bad at (current Rush has stiff suspension but flex-y body & chassis, not a recipe for comfort and handling). Thankfully, rumors are pointing to that the next-gen Avanza will be based on DNGA and other products based on this platform (Toyota Raize/Daihatsu Rocky/Perodua Ativa, Daihatsu Taft etc) got generally positive reviews on chassis tuning. I'm sure Rush will follow suit. This will give it better fighting chance against the Ertiga/XL7 and Xpander.

    Counting this baby 😂😂 2 year Rush owner... its a great city car. Especially traffic no hassle..No Problems so far. Used as a daily driver hatid sundo and our business... Yes its a Daihatsu. Dont expect Fast and Furious but it will get you from Point A to point B... 😂 Suspension gets better if loaded . Its a great seller kase Toyota... Was waiting for another MpV from another brand but Sales was Lousy no feedback on when our unit was coming even if we paid down payment they took months. But when we went to Toyota it just took 2 days may unit na. Kaya Sales and after sales Toyota. And yes we've tried others too. So far best experience has been Toyota After Sales 😂.
