The 2020 Toyota Rush is Toyota's answer to the need for an affordable 7-seater SUV. It's based off the Toyota Avanza, but has been given the SUV treatment to make it look beefier. In this Filipino car review, we check out the 2021 Toyota Rush, to see if it is closer to the Avanza or an actual SUV. like the Fortuner. The Toyota Rush was the answer to Honda's BRV, and other MPVs that look like SUVs, like the Suzuki XL7, and the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross. On the Philippines, the Toyota Rush is one of the best selling vehicles in the country. I take this Toyota Rush for a test drive, to see what makes it so popular among Filipinos.
The 2021 Toyota Rush gets 7 seats across all variants, and the price has remained the same. I noticed that the grill resembles the Honda CRV, and the body lines give it an SUV look. This is a Toyota Rush review. This is also a Toyota Rush drive impression. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
always watch your video reviews! detailed and honest!
2nd best car reviewer in the PH, next to Sir Caco :) Thanks for the honest review.
Agreed 👍
They're both doing a great service for car buyers and enthusiasts. Big thanks!!
This is a very informative and balanced review, keep it up 👍! We've had our Rush for a year and a half now, for us it's neither a beefed up Avanza nor a baby Fortuner, it is the Toyota Rush, a sub-compact entry level SUV with a 5 Star Safety Rating. A body on frame design with a 220 mm. ground clearance, generous approach and departure angles suited for mild off-roading or city street flooding and potholes. The 1.5 liter engine is fuel efficient under 100 kph, we usually cruise at 40-90 kph range so it give us enough. We average 12 km/L although most of our driving is on mild traffic. What it lacks in power it compensates in fuel efficiency, safety, and practicality. 😊👍
Sir, similar to my question to Sir Reygan, do you think a 1.8 liter engine will be more suitable to the Rush (similar to the one in the Corolla Cross)? Or at least as an additional option/variant? Thank you for your response :)
@@markjavier5536 Yes, a 1.8 engine would be a good option plus a 6 gear Automatic transmission. But this upgrades will increase its price. 😊
@@lionojudah3256 Thank you Sir for your response. Yes, additional gears will help too :)
Thank you sir
Sir ,can we add cng kit to toyota rush pllzz tell me sir
For a new car owner like me, ok na ok na sa akin itong Rush. This is a family car for me, kaya chill2x na takbo ayos na. 👍🏼
Same sir. Kanya kanyang preference lang. Enjoy na enjoy ko talaga to. Actually di ko nga alam na underpowered kasi first car ko to. 😅
And yes, its definitely a family car. 🙏 for those who are saying its underpowered, subjective siya sa driving experience and purpose mismo ng car, eh kung gusto pala nila ng speed eh di bili sila ng sportscar tapod ikarera nila dito sa pinas. Lol. 😂
Samehere ❤
Same here. I love my rush swabe ang andar..
Honest review, thanks!
Reagan, really thanks for the explanation. I am so delighted. I do have the same Toyota Rush 2021 model made in Indonesia. Can you send me about how the sounds of the car would be when you drive and increase speed as well as you drive steep roads?
Good review explained well not like others
Hope next time you will feature Toyota Avanza and kindly include the specs specifically the number of cylinders, valve and weather or not it has ABS already and the price. I like the fact of you very well verse, very knowledgeable and spontaneous. 👍👌
very detailed review! well done!
imo, the new exterior design is better than before, its more subtle
NICE REVIEW SIR😊
Hi, i like ur videos and reviews. I however noticed on several of ur test drives that u lack road courtesy. No hate here, but i believe u could show more discipline on ur test drives to serve as an example to ur viewers. U already r considered as an influencer, put it to good use. A bike rider was trying to cross the street on his feet using the ped crossing, instead of allowing him to pass, u just went ahead like he was not there and if u noticed, incoming traffic had to stop for him. It could have been a win win situatiom for everyone. U delaying him delayed others. This is not the first time, other vids show u not stopping or slowing down on ped xings despite people on the striped line wanting to cross. I remember another test drive in a two way street, u disregarded an incoming motorcycle bec u avoided a vehicle that stopped in front of u, u could have braked but chose to swerve and let the motorist avoid u
Thanks for the honest review boss!
Glad you like it!
Thank you for sharing this. God bless you.
Sir when will be the nxt facelift or new Rush ?
Sir can you also review 2020 land cruiser prado vx 2.8 if it's available already in the dealership? Ty very much.
Youre right with the secret sauce....
"its a toyota"
Great review and you really pin point everything about the rush
Thanks!
Nice one! Big help.
Its a great ride crossover between an suv and an mpv with a sedan vibes, great work sir.
Can u add a center Arm rest on the Toyota Rust OEM original factory made ? Not an aftermarket one.
Sir Reygan, based on reviews that I watched or read, the common 'complaints' against the Rush are: 1. lack of horsepower and torque (engine-related) and 2. stiff suspension.
Sir, do you think a 1.8 liter engine will be more suitable to the Rush (similar to the one in the Corolla Cross)?
Other than the engine and the suspension, I think the Toyota Rush is already a very good vehicle :)
1. 5-star safety rating from the ASEAN NCAP
2. high ground clearance
3. appropriate width for tight roads and traffic
4. 7-seats
5. durability/longevity (based on Toyota's reputation)
Thank you and God bless!
Rush owner here of a 2018 E A/T... For me, the only complaint that I have with the vehicle is the lack of manual mode... The transmission is adaptive enough to match your shift habit when driving a manual... The engine is so far enough for me that I have the selector left in D and only use 3 2 and L when going downhill... IMHO, a 1.8L engine would be a bit powerful for the light body of the Rush... And for the suspension, I just leave the tire pressure at the recommended level, 34 F and 38 R, to have the suspension working and at the same time it lowers the suspension stiffness...
Can you review the ford Everest trend
At that price more than 1M it should have at least arm rest or navigation.
Rear Wheel Drive with 6 Airbags with 4 Speed Traditional automatic vs competition Front wheel drive and others are Cvt.
review Mitsubishi Xpander Cross 2020
and hopefully in the future you can review this
2021 Mitsubishi Xpander Cross Rockford Fosgate Black Edition
2021 Mitsubishi Xpander Black Edition
Plz review xpander cross 2021 . .
Great review, I'll check out your Honda BR-V next but think it'll be hard to beat the Rush
Reviews that I watched prefers the BR-V in terms of handling, but I'll go with the Rush because of better safety features (ex. 6 airbags).
i want to ask u sir.. how about honda br-v. 1.5 v cvt. sir?? or rush g sir???
can you flip the second raw seat for more luggage space?
you got very good car review everytime i watch but he one thing idont like for the toyota rush still low power and torque thats why maybe low sale in the market not like korean car even small car but its got more hp and torque
Nice review. For me at that price Ranger XLS kukunin ko.
You are exactly right brod, that's what I'm thinking as well
Baka XL7 ang tinutuloy mo?
Sana ung white plastic look leather ay ginawang prang plastic wooden style.. prang pang luxury..
Nice review. I thought were being kind. Tagtag ng Rush sobra 😅
Agree. We bought this last yr. tagtag is real
I think toyota rush is the perfect MPV if you usually drive in bad road conditions. With its RWD, it is simple and rugged and more suitable sa current situtation ng PH roads, lots of potholes and uneven pavements.
Please review land cruiser 200!
Pakireview po sa Toyota Innova 2020 manual po. Thank you po
I like this Car but which date of launch in India.
the honest review.
Thank you. 👍
When will it be launched in India
I prefer the 5 seater, and rear wheel drive is a plus.
Yes, Sir Vince Pornelos of AutoIndustriya prefers the 5-seater because the vehicle becomes lighter and there is more cargo space :)
Tagtag is real talaga sa rush mga paps. But then again, this a really good car, for an entry level SUV.
Idol next nman 2020 hyundai accent
Mpv? or Suv?
Bkt white accnt din loob? Available sa puti lang?
Lets do this! 👍🏻
The late great "Rush" Limbaugh would have been pleased with the vehicle that bears his namesake. LOL, "trigger warning" Great video 😂
Sir please review ford everest sport
It may available in India?
Glad we were able to get the Xpander GLS 2020 at this price bracket. Cruise control, better handling, great driving position with tilt and telescopic option and overall future proof exterior. Not to mention, biggest cabin space on its segment. 🙌🏻
Suuuure. Can replace my wheels with same specs and can already have 220mm ground clearance. (which our parking does not require nor our road) But can yours have cruise control, fuel economy and power? 🤷🏻♂️🤐
NVH levels omg. You really include that. Haha!
Lol. Didnt mean to trigger you that you had to reply to my comment, copy my emojis to suit yours to make yourself confident and then you had edit it to make it more ready. 😛 With that said, nope. I can't be bought with the verdict of "Hmmm. Pwede na." 🤣
The fact that you were rooting for Toyota badge real hard. Im gonna make this simple for you. I own a Toyota Camry, and a Fortuner and thats it. So shush it. 😭🤣
Xpander 2 airbags whaaat?
Now that's what you call a JUMP cut! Literally! 😊👌
Nearly pulled a muscle doing that move! 😂
@@ReygansRides 😂🤣
Could not help but notice, are you wearing a Hulk?
Rush or xl7?
Beautiful hope i get one someday he he he
Well, reygan has reviewed many Chinese brands with higher spec for the same price so his standards are higher now. kaya "decent" lang ang rush :)
I am getting that vehicle..you quelled my decision
Sir, bitin yan sa gear sa hiway😔
That’s my brothers car! He got a 1.5E AT variant
very nice
@@ReygansRides Thank you! ❤️
so nice
What is the rule in window glass tinting in the Philippines? Can you able to have all tinted?
The rule is tint is not allowed for the windshield. Only for windows. However, in reality it is not being enforced here. Almost all cars have tint on the windshield, especially the politicians.
This Rush or the XL7?
Thanks for the reviews!
xl7 maganda yung white pang family saka city driving
XL7
XL7....
Ang XL7 pang porma at pormal kahit pwede sya gamitin.
If need mo talaga yung 220mm ground clearance, Toyota Rush. For city driving only, you can just settle for Ertiga. XL7 for macho looking Ertiga on stilts.
Sir magkano po cach.ng toyota Rush
The only Magic Sauce is the Front Longitudinal RWD Layout and the awesome good looks...
The Rush is the cheapest Front Longitudinal RWD 7 Seater Small SUV...
I never liked Toyotas before this, but man this Rush is really good looking... I would made it just a Tad little wider and slapped on a slightly more powerful engine though..that Chassis on Frame Body needs more Torque to go uphills with a full load...
galing mo talaga councillor jhong hillario.
Its crazy how in the philippines nobody stops for pedestrians in a crosswalk haha. Theres was a guy literally in the middle of the crosswalk trying to get through and nobody stops to let him cross lmao 🤣15:50. Its like a sucide mission lolz.
Not worth it at 1m. Should be only priced at 850+ ish. But hey, “It’s a Toyota.” Xpander is better all throughout but just save 300k and get Okavango. Toyota gotta learn to step up the game because new players are playing their cards pretty good.
Yeah overpriced but it's not a toyota,it's a daihatsu.
I am waiting for maxus d60 2022 with panoramic sunroof. Same price with okavango
Boss sayo lang ako maniniwala...this is my HOLY question, ano mas ok suzuki xl7 or toyota rush??? At bakit....
I have the manual transmission. No camera. Just the 4 eye sensor. Pero sulit pa rin. Di bitin sa power if MT ;)
Regan, Rush is Daihatsu Terios and had turbo, am just wondering why Toyota remove the turbo, what is your honest observation, is it really underpowered????
It takes a while to build up speed, but it's pretty similar to other 7-seater ladder-frame MPVs in that regard. It's decent for daily use, but as a speed junkie, it's underpowered for me.
The 4 speed is uninspiring. A 6 speed would be better suited.
Why the rush 103 hp only..
Looks like an SUV because it is an SUV. (sub-compact though) It's based on the Daihatsu Terios which is a ladder frame SUV that explains the harsh ride. If you look on the driver or front passenger door jamb you will see a stamp saying "Daihatsu Motor Indonesia"
and yeah mechanically similar to the Toyota Avanza/Daihatsu Xenia..
acceleration? what can you expect on a 1.5 inside an mpv 😄
i want to ask. sir.. thats car. safely going to up hill with 7 people??? there are no problme going to travel mountains???
Should not be an issue, low end torque is adequate for mountain travel
@@ReygansRides i want to plan buy rush g at sir.. that why i will aks u... if there are a problme for travel going to mountain.. i cant buy..
Is the suspension smooth? Not bumpy?
bumpy as a horse
17:59 drive safely Sir.
Not the best road/sreet to review a car.
Thanks buddy!
Good 👍
Its not an MPV car , its SUV thats why it’s not as comfortable as Inova or xpander because this car is built for off Road , and its more looking like Baby Pajero than Baby fortuner, the worst thing about this car is very bad suspension ( hard) , and the noise of the engine from inside the cabin above 80 km/hour .. very noisy . And some plastic cover under the seats broken off after few passengers in few months using . It’s an overprice car for it’s quality the only good thing about this car is the nice looking design and it’s RWD makes this car good on a bad road and very economic for gasoline !
Toyota Rush is not an MPV. It's categorized as an SUV because of its body-on-frame chassis as with Fortuner and LC.
does that mean sir suv din po yung avanza and innova?medjo nakakalito na mga categorization sa mga kotse ngayon hahahah
misleading review for the categorization. It was reviewed as an MPV yet on 7:04, he said it right that it is SUV. TR is intended for city driving and can be felt economically with the prevailing heavy traffic in general. only a 1.5l hence i really do not expect this as a powerful unit used for racing. Still, the review is acceptable as he pointed out the features quote ok. Every brand has its plus and minus and you decide according to your preference. based on the review, i like the TR among its rivals. Apart from the features, the look of the TR is really pogi on all sides. and it is Loaded!
Pls call yung number sa description ng video for assistance. 👍
more like an Avanza than a Fortuner
ENGINE IS TOO SMALL 1.5 MAKE IT A 2.0 7 seats back end should be longer
It is actually one of the more reasonably priced Toyotas. 6 airbags + standard ESC at just over 1M pesos. Pangit nga lang imaneho dahil rebody lang siya na Avanza, which is 8+ years old. Pero ok din dahil 6 airbags and standard esc, good for those parents who want to buy a safe car for their children, but not good if the parents are going to drive it themselves.
I agree Sir. Kung family safety, the Toyota Rush is really good. If Toyota kaya will provide a bigger engine (ex. 1.8, similar to the Corolla Corss)? Baka magagawan din ng paraan ang suspension.
@@markjavier5536 honestly, I think the engine is fine enough without a load but i think what it desperately needs is an all-new redesign based on the DNGA or TNGA platform. Softer suspension upgrade can improve comfort & stability, but it will worsen handling which the Rush is already very bad at (current Rush has stiff suspension but flex-y body & chassis, not a recipe for comfort and handling). Thankfully, rumors are pointing to that the next-gen Avanza will be based on DNGA and other products based on this platform (Toyota Raize/Daihatsu Rocky/Perodua Ativa, Daihatsu Taft etc) got generally positive reviews on chassis tuning. I'm sure Rush will follow suit. This will give it better fighting chance against the Ertiga/XL7 and Xpander.
May tanong ako pag bumili ka ng rush, after 1k or 1month babalik ka for PMS, Necesarry ba or automatic ba tlga na mag change oil sila niya? Considering 1k or 1month palang ang car?
halos lahat ng car brand ganyan kc ang nakalagay stock oil pa,kaya after 1k kms na yan mag every 5k o 10k kms.
I don’t like where they put the “engine start/stop” button. It’s like it will rip your knee cap in a collision.
It will come to India
Counting this baby 😂😂 2 year Rush owner... its a great city car. Especially traffic no hassle..No Problems so far. Used as a daily driver hatid sundo and our business... Yes its a Daihatsu. Dont expect Fast and Furious but it will get you from Point A to point B... 😂 Suspension gets better if loaded . Its a great seller kase Toyota... Was waiting for another MpV from another brand but Sales was Lousy no feedback on when our unit was coming even if we paid down payment they took months. But when we went to Toyota it just took 2 days may unit na. Kaya Sales and after sales Toyota. And yes we've tried others too. So far best experience has been Toyota After Sales 😂.
Can you tell me about the stiffness mentioned by Reygan? How was your experience in the seat?
Let's try to accelerate a little bit.... waaaah! 😂🤣😂
Underpower
