- Calling all Spice Lords-we're finally pulling back the curtain on all things Hot Ones! For the first time in Hot Ones history, we're giving fans an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of how an episode of Hot Ones is made. Heat Eaters host Esther Choi explores the heart of First We Feast headquarters with her trusty tour guide, Camera Guy Bill. From hanging out with Sean in the studio and getting the scoop about his pre-shoot rituals and research process, to learning about their systematic wing tossing approach, to checking out rare mementos from the 'Museum of Curiosities' collected from past episodes, Esther’s visit is loaded with the type of inside info fans have been clamoring for.
But that's not all! After her studio tour, Esther links up with Noah Chaimberg-the founder of Heatonist and producer of Hot Ones sauces-for a very special hot sauce-tasting flight, including an INSANELY hot Pepper X tincture from the legend Smokin Ed Currie. If you've ever wondered, "Hey, how do they pull off this spicy madness?," then hit that play button, because this is one episode you don’t want to miss.

Like if you're an OG Hot Ones fans! What else do you want to know about how the spicy magic is made? 🌶
As soon as I have the money go on this trip to go to New York from California. I'm down for checking out the studio at hot ones.
BRING ON PEWDIEPIE RRRREEEEEE
Not sure if this is a practical idea, but I would like to see a chart on one of your web pages of all the sauces used so far in the series and maybe categorized by flavor and heat, if that could be done. I hope that sounds like a good idea to the viewers. Maybe check with the staff if it sounds practical.
I just want to know if we're ever going to go back to 1 table on the show. The show is still great but it definitely felt more intimate with the single table.
You folks need to road trip Hot Ones. I'm sure every State has a few good producers of sauce. I'm in Canada and we have some seriously nice sauces. Come visit.
it's crazy to see how much staff it takes for an apparently simple show as Hot Ones! It reveals the amount of work and dedication that goes on behind the scenes.
they seem over staffed. and that studio seems way too big. The beauty of hot ones is its simplicity.
@@StonerKitchenSimplicity in presentation, but I'm certain that most of the job is managing Hot Ones the brand and that is not simple. From the Monthly subscription box, to merch to Hot Ones branded food items like the tenders or the most recent Pringles. There is likely a lot of logistics stuff happening behind the scenes on top of the basic interview
fax
Agreed I was surprised as well
@@StonerKitchen they do a lot more then just the hot ones show. you also have to have people that deal with the celeb managers and or celebs themselves. you have production, merch, business, list goes on and on.
Aunty Esther is just killing it. Aside from being dubbed "auntie", she did the behind the scenes of hot ones that every fan wanted.
Fuiyoh!
@@thisisjvh200 She handle spice well. She tell Uncle Roger, " Why so weak??"
Yet no shout-out for Nigel.... He should demote her to niece Esther. He is why.she got this show and she had a chance to repay him and dropped the ball...
Absolutely! I wish so badly to take this tour!
@@chrisvclementscringe
So, you're telling me Hot Ones isn't just Sean, a person that makes the wings, and 3 cameras set up in a garage?
It’s owned by BuzzFeed.
Its owned by First We Feast and higher than that Complex@@FuhqEwe
@@joshlinehan who owned Complex ?
@@Sky_FMJ I do
Right.. LOL
I've said this a million times. There's almost always one instance in every single interview where the guest gives props to Sean, and his team, for doing their research. They're always surprised at the level of information given. That's what keeps me coming back every episode. Sean and his team are amazing at what they do. Job well done!!
Same. It gives me such warm fuzzies to see all the respect and admiration everyone shows to each other.
I like how when Bill shakes the bowl of Wing Roulette in front of Sean, Sean's expression is basically, "Get that s**t out of my face."
I tried my best, he doesn't eat wings off the clock 🤷♂
@@billdrexler5400 I think he said something along the lines of "Yeah you eat it, you [inaudible curse]"
@@billdrexler5400 why was the Jeff Goldblum mask pixelated?
Don't take your work home with you. Sean knows what's up. lol
@@tmattoneill too much hotness for one video
Love that Sean slurped the noodles and drank the broth from the bowl! That’s the way to do it! ❤👍
Had no idea the studio was so big as it always looks small and cozy on the show.
I was thinking how small it is. I was just thinking about how close the Dom and crew are to the action.
For how expensive that space probably is, definitely big
I don’t know if they do anymore but they used to also set up the set wherever the guest was, so they’d be in hotels, celeb homes, etc. so they kept the set simple and small so they could set it up anywhere and it would look uniform even if they weren’t in the studio
@@V_4_Versace oh cool I didn't know that but it makes sense especially when they were just getting going go to the stars don't make em arrive at your apartment or whatever, very interesting 😉
Esther Choi need to go on an actual Hot Ones episode
Agreed!
The show is just too big for that
Great idea 💡
Yess!!
@@whoaskedyoutolookatthisagreed maybe OF
I love that Bill is such a big part of the show experience now
Wouldn't be where I am today with out fans like you! Thanks for watching!
Camera guy Bill is what keeps bringing me back.
@@billdrexler5400 I am here for Camera guy Bill.
Buffalo's Own! GO BILLS
I´m just waiting for when they drop the Bill related Merch.
Adding Chef Esther to the FWF crew is an OUTSTANDING move and shows that you guys have long term, empire-making ambitions.
I’ve been a fan of the show for years. Super cool to see some behind the scenes!
I've always wanted to see a behind-the-scenes video like this. That memorabilia area is so cool!
I love that Camera Guy Bill greeted them lol He really needs an episode
Camera Man Bill immediately taking the second bite before anything registers in his brain!
I fear NO sauce!
That girl Victoria seems very professional and good at her job. You should probably give her a raise. Bill too.
I like the sound of that!
Excellent overview of what the production looks like. I'm sure many people have no idea how many talent, equipment and space it takes to pull this off.
We can finally put a face on Dom's name 😂, she is an off camera star.
Shout out to Dom! Always there with the save.
Loved how Camera Guy Bill offered Sean wing roulette and he just casually walks by like the boss he is!!!
I see a lot of comments surprised on the number of staff for this simple concept. People don't realize that to keep it so simple is in fact the hardest thing to do. Props to the team for their hardwork!
I would love to see a documentary that shows the evolution from what I’m assuming was probably less than 800 square-foot studio with volunteers and part-time employees that had to hold down other jobs, to this full-blown hundred percent professional almost like a lawyers office set up.
The fact that Sean not only heavily researches a guest, but absorbs their content to the extent of "watching their filmography or reading their book.." is crazy.
He probably loves it. I'm sure he spends more time reading and learning than anything just as a hobby.
Esther: *takes sniff of Da Bomb*
Also Esther: (internally) "I am questioning many life choices right now" 🤣
I always wondered how the "wings" were sauced. It makes sense instead of having 10 brushes to deal with. Extremely informative and educational.👍
Camera guy bill is literally a necessity of Hot Ones in general!! Keep it up good sir!!
As a Hot Ones fan since the shows inception, this was a long time coming - and a frickin' HOOT!!! Thanks for sharing and a big thanks to Cameraman Bill for protecting the integrity of Hot Ones! The show must go on!
How awesome is Esther...love the energy and authenticity. She's such a badass, not shying away from anything. Every bit as enjoyable as an actual episode. Great work FWF
Shes awful, annoying and doesnt make it interesting whatsoever
I love Sean's response to the wing roulette at the end🤣
Love seeing Esther on the set !
This is awesome, love the pulling back of the curtain on the process. Doesn’t get rid of the magic of the show either!
Wow Cameraman Bill coming in with the fancy clothes! Way to class it up.
Thanks! It's a rental
I am loving the Heat Eaters series with Esther! This episode in particular was perfectly done because she's the newbie on First We Feast, so we got to feel like we were experiencing it all with her for the first time. Her excitement and enthusiasm all made it feel like you were being invited to tag along with a friend for a back stage tour i.e. as she was getting a behind-the-scenes look at the Hot Ones buildings, set, and getting introductions to all her fellow FWF coworkers; it felt personal and inviting. This ties in well with Sean's Hot Ones interviewing style as he too is someone who is welcoming and thoughtful as an interviewer, making his guests feel heard and important with his well constructed and researched questions. From an OG fan who has bought your sauces and watched your many, many interviews - great job @FirstWeFeast! Keep up the incredible content!
Imagine being Camera Guy Bill's camera guy! has to be an honor!
Camera Guy Troy is top notch. Wouldn't want anyone else filming me!
@@billdrexler5400 Shout out to Camera Guy Troy! Camera-Guy-ception!
I've always loved Auntie Esther but now I adore her, after seeing her go all in on this episode of Heat Eaters. She went deep! Respect.
I'll watch anything with Esther Choi and I'm pumped to keep watching Heat Eaters :D I almost wish it had its' own channel
The cameo at the end from Sean really sealed the deal for me.
I love how Esther was so excited to take the extract oil after they both got wrecked by it. Lol
Evil-y plotting slipping it into her friends food.. 😅
It's meant for cooking. Perhaps she'll come up with a new fried rice recipe
This episode was awesome! Bill, Esther, and Sean together on camera needs to be a regular thing please.
The Dream Team!
WOW WOW WOW
I feel Camera Guy Bill on the "proprietary" stance.
Thank you for the glimpse behind the scenes
It's amazing to see how curated Hot Ones is without seeming like it's so curated. Big ups to the team and all involved ❤🔥
I am smiling the fact there showing this in such detail is amazing it feels really intimate .
Ok, this episode proved to me exactly how good her heat tolerance is. I knew it was pretty good, but now it's obvious
I’ve been waiting for this bts for YEARS!!! Thank you!!!
Esther's such a great host also pretty fearless when it comes to the tincture of hot sauce, that looked like something you would score at night off some dealer in an alley way..
Actually, I've always thought that the Hot Ones team traveled to like a hotel conference room near where the actor may be working at the time. Interesting to see the behind the scenes!
They definitely do sometimes. This is just the Complex HQ.
😃I’ve been waiting for a behind the scenes of Hot Ones!🔥🐓
Nice job everyone!
the foil and heat blanket trick is brilliant! i always wondered about that. like were the wings all super cold by the time the guests get to them? now we know. very cool. also wing roulette sounds like a terrible/awesome idea! cheers yall, keep it it up!
Thank you so much for this! I've been watching for YEARS and always wondered (as someone who works in the industry) what goes into this amazing show.
Esther is doing great as a Heat Eaters host!
She need to have Uncle Roger on.
@@_HippieThugg_yeah, it seems like some kind of beef, they need a public rapprochement
This was a great video. I've seen other behind the scenes from hot ones and this one felt most real. Such a down to earth crew.
Sean is great, but I love how much camera time Schonberger gets in this
I've always wondered how long the wings have been sitting around between prep and until the shoot finally starts
Love the addition of Esther and Heat Eaters to the First We Feast lineup. Great entertainment!
Absolutely LOVED seeing the behind the scenes! Been watching since the beginning and a die hard fan. Thank you for sharing ❤❤❤
I've been waiting for a behind the scenes for this show for so long! Thank you soooo much!
It was great seeing many behind the scenes.
Thank You to all of you !.... Oh yes, and you Sean !
What an incredible team! Thanks for showing us the BTS. So awesome to get a glimpse into the awesomeness.
I so want to meet Sean and the team behind this amazing show!!
This is the one I’ve been waiting for. Bts of this amizing show. You guys are legends! Love the show. All the way from the Philippines 🇵🇭
This will go down as one of the most amazing and unique talk/guest shows in history. It really does bring even the highest level and iconic stars down the base level, and they painfully enjoy the experience lol
Everyone on the hot ones crew seem to get along so well and have a great rapport! Glad to see everyone having a great time making this great show!
Esther is a natural host!
Esther: "Yeah, this is really spicy"
*heat kicks in*
*starts smiling*
*taking another bite*
You can tell that Esther can handle spicy food :D
Respect for going in to Da Bomb with no warm up wings ❤️🔥
So interesting all the things that go on behind the scenes! They all seem really sweet. Great team work!
Please keep this show going! Esther is funny and I’m learning so much from her!! ❤
Great job Esther! We have been watching Hot Ones for years. It was interesting to see all that goes into making an episode. Thank you!
I kind of wish I could UNSEE thiis episode! It pretty much blows my vision of this, very simple, small production youtube channel, that's just kickin A$$ on viewership! Haha! This channel is a $$$ making corporate machine! & there is certainly nothing wrong with that. Good on them!
The Hot Ones Studio certainly is spicy. Everything you see is a grand feast.
Love the vibe and energy of the whole crew! Stay solid!
I love love love everything that this show has become. So many great interviews so many funny memories personally especially when friends come over and play along .😂
This little behind the scenes tour is like a Trip through Wonka’s Wonderland. I freaking loved this. Thank you
What a great team of players. Total home run of spicy fun! Congrats and great health to you and yours.
I love having wing roulette after every show, such a funny idea!
idk what is it with ppl called Sean, but most of them are the most wholesome ppl I know. That includes Sean Evan ofc, salute bro.
This was SO much fun to see behind the scenes. Our question is: what percentage of episodes are shot there at your studio and how many do you do on the road to accommodate guests that may not be able to make it to NY?
thank you for all the heroes behind this show
This was so fun and Aunty Esther absolutely killed it
I'm smitten by Auntie Esther. I'm gonna try and muscle in before Uncle Roger get her...
You guys have a lot of fun, great working environment! Great content!
On every episode of Hot Ones I always picture this small studio... outwards dark like the set and a 6 to 7 "man" crew... I never knew that it was such a big production however I appreciate it
Great video Hot Ones, was a great opportunity for us to see how the production comes together 🔥
Loved the irony of Ester and Bill eating Da Bomb wings with Victoria with the 'Help Desk' sign next to the bin. 😆
Took the wings like champs!
I've had many years of practice!
I've long wanted to see how the wings were tossed, and can only imagine it's become more sophisticated since then. My naively scientific mind expected, at least, measuring spoons.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. I loved Bill the Camera Guy's outfit, so in tune. I have always wanted to know how you put a show together, but i would have like to see the researchers interviewed about how they deep dive, but I am guessing that is classified information. This is the best interview show ever. Sean does not use Cue Cards or a TelePrompter (Many Guests have said so) and he knows his research so well he can instantly adapt to any situation. Thank you
Thanks for posting this behind the scenes video of how Hot Ones is made and the people who do it.
This was so refreshing to watch!
Great behind the scenes!!!! Loved it. Great crew. You peoples rock.
Thank you for taking us BTS! It was awesome to see
The fact that Chef Esther Choi is a part of the FWF crew is a new level, love it!
Really cool to get a peek behind the scenes! Great episode!
Wing roulette, what an amazing idea!
As an old skewl viewer, I really enjoyed this new format. It's not that I don't enjoy the show, I just really appreciate a different direction. So, thank you. I wasn't expecting much of this episode, but it was more than I anticipated.
Thank you guys for sharing your behind-the-scenes, creative process! So cool to see the huge team and the actual faces behind this successful show. Been watching since season 1! These videos help to pass the time at work lol 😂🐔🔥
That was well-produced content. Well done everyone! 👏🏻👏🏻🔥🔥
Love the Show. What a big production I had no idea. Esther is so cool
Great to see behind-the-scenes! Please do more!
Hot Peppers! You just know it's worth the ride when you eat a pepper that takes you on a journey where when you come down, you've arrived! I never liked the hot sauce, but one day I said, why not! Since then, on occasion I grab the pepper and hold on tight. The experience is worth it!
You should open an official museum for people to visit. That would be so much fun!
That would be so killller!!!!!
i would fly out an visit! sick idea
Take my money
Thanks for sharing this! So cool to see. I love how many people are working on this, while still having that 'guy in his garage having fun on youtube` vibe!
Love that bit of editing at the end there when they took the tincture and the phone floats through the air like a hallucination.
Loved that she tried everything out. 👏👏👏
