They really sent Gelt to Vietnam.
Welcome to Cathay gentlemen
"Welcome to Kuresh, Gentleman"
Welcome to Not-China gentlemen.
Not for his own selfish studies, but for the good of the Empire
fuck yeah, a closer start to Zhatan and that juicy increased artillery range
Balthasar Gelt going to a campaign out east is NOT going to help the Vietnam Gelt meme.
Dont worry, in cathay we have another wood elves magic forest.
So u can enter them in silent, seeing no sun beneath the shadow of trees, smelling that strange smell and hearing only clumpy noise of your horses and artillery wheels...
And then trees start talking elvish...
Welcome to Khuresh, gentlemen!
CA is leaning full on into meme Gelt now, between the romance with Zhou and the Vietnam start location - I refuse to believe they don't know what they're doing.
@@Canadish They updated his tech tree, and one of his new abiltys is buffing explosive damage and size of hellstorm rocket batteries. So yeah, Gelt go bom bom now xD
I mean now Gelt can also get a thunder barge form allied units.
They did give the Empire Gold wizards in case nobody mentioned that yet
What, Gelt is handing out graduation certs again?
Haleluya
@@gwyndolinschnee7015 That is a genuinely hilarious way of framing that lol
actually huge
Strange, how they didn't mention it in the entire update log. Though I feel like they accidentally left out a couple things.
The engineer lord can use steamtank as a mount so he uses his grenade launcher. The new knights have bonus against infantry and high melee defense. The landship has horrible melee defense but good charge bonus.
An Empire Lord getting a Steam Tank mount sounds so insane. In a good way.
@@Grivehnits GELT all over man
Steam Tank is also now a shielded unit with a 360 degree shield profile with the front being the best and rear being weaker. Maybe equivalent to gold shield at front silver on the sides and bronze at the rear. Will make it a good bit sturdier against missiles and its also apparently been changed to always fire its guns while moving so can perform its chariot role a little nicer.
@cinder8926 also it can fire while moving
Do the new knights *actually* have a bonus against infantry though? We all know that in game, Reiksguard Knights are described as Anti-Infantry, but they don't actually get a bonus against infantry on their weapon strength - it just says that to distinguish the fact that they *don't* have an anti-large bonus. Are we sure that it isn't the same thing happening here? Will these new Knight units actually get an increase to their weapon strength when fighting infantry?
Gelt after the update: "GOOOD MORNING ESTALLIA!"
*Fortunate son intensifies as 10,000 helstorm rockets land in the trees*
Why? They literally moved him into Vietnam.
Empire engineers: (Can build literal sentient mechanical horses)
Also empire engineers: How wee mayk noo steem tanx?!
Yeah, it kind of bothered me they can build automaton horses but can’t recreate a moving metal box. But hey they are as many elves as the plot need.
@@florians9949 Something to do with the specific size limitations of the Steam Tank platform leading to undersized boilers which have a habit of exploding or having too little power to move the darn things.
@@florians9949 from a lore perspective, it's not that they can't it's... That SO MANY engineers have died building new boilers the Guild of Engineers forbids it.
The plans for the steam tank were coded so there's a lot that the Guild don't know, there's a lot that died with the inventor and as various people tried different things went wrong and killed people.
@@pr4vus I mean the miniature was better more obviously clockwork it was very much wheel lock pistol/repeater pistol in styling. All baroque and coilsprings. I'm not a fan of the in game model.

Where there's Engineers, there's the legendary Pigeon Bombs.
Pigeon Bombs or we riot
UPDATE: WE GOT PIGEON BOMBS, BOYS
I was excited about that too lmao
PIGEON ALL OVER THEM!
Unleash the EAF!
ALL HAIL PIGEON BOMBS!
German speaker here - if Hochland is ment to be pronounced in a traditional german way (in which it simply means highland), it it is spelled with a sound that i think doesn't exist in english. Specifically the "ch". Its sounds like if you try to hiss like a cat, but with your tongue sticking to the bottom of your mouth. You can use the google translate speaker function for it.
Nice
It's the sound you make when there's something stuck in your throat and you are trying to spit it out.
Hochland is indeed a mountainous region with high mountains lol
We've got that well and truly covered in Scotland.
To elaborate on this:
"Hotchland" is definitely the wrong pronounciation.
"Hockland" is less terrible, but still wrong (yet it is an understandable approximation for an English speaker).
The "ch" is pronounced similar to the rasping sounds in Arabic or Hebrew - think of the word "Chutzpah" or the arabic pronounciation of "Ahmed". It's a sound similar to the one you make when you are trying to dislodge some food from the back of your throat.
In addition to the "ch" sound, a more germanic pronounciation of the "o" seems appropriate. It is a long vowel produced in the front of your mouth (think "small" and "tall"), not in the back (think "on" and "off"). So, if you are unable to ptoduce the "ch" sound, you could go for "Hockland" with an elongated frontal "o" like in "small".
Norsca and Tomb Kings also don't have a generic spell caster lord.
Norsca is really screwed for lords. Literally only one option, and it doesn't have any significant skills outside of blue and red line
Nehekara caster? Norsca still screwed lol
@@xtrasquishOgers have it even worst. Two legendary lord, two generic lords, only one is actually usefull.
They've been playing fast and loose with the lore, but it *is* lore-appropriate for Tomb Kings to not have a caster Lord, considering how on a short leash/subservient the Priesthood is to the Prince/Kings.
@@GahnzNmi True...but having SOME variety would still be good. They could even have a pre-checked skill point that automatically gives a portion of their XP to generic Tomb King lords as a testament to that. I personally would LOVE a Master Necrotect lord option (and I think well know the perfect LL to introduce that).
All I’m hearing with Gelt’s rework gentlemen, is that Estalia isn’t the only place we’re gonna be doing a few tours in to spread the empire’s freedom.
Bright wizard’s napalm go BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Empire troops gonna flee with massive ptsd after their murder frenzy gets stomped and they'll claim they're the victims 😅
Well they found a way to spread around Vamp Counts, Gelt is probably the easiest Empire Lord to send somewhere new. I hope his faction can still settle mountain areas as easily as it could before. That can be a boost in some places (notice there are parts of the map that aren't friendly territory to humans but have mountains.)
@@TheCenccdidn’t happen
The Empire Rework looks pretty cool. Multiplayer campaigns with my Empire Addicted friend will finally allow for Cathay play with Balthasar Gelt being banished to China.
Your friend then leaves after 10 turns and insta teleports back to the empire 😂
@@ghostlyswat12 If nothing else it means I don't have to worry about the Safe Wind Nomads being blocked off from the world and being the hardest Cathay faction to confed as Yuan Bo xD
Sometimes if I wait too long to confed them they get in a permanent safe zone and just sit there doing nothing xD
Welcome to Cathay, gentlemen!
Regardless of the one Cathay policy, Gelt will defend the spirits of shanlin's faction autonomy. They manufacture the best control chips for mechanical steeds after all... ^^
It's really good that we know have proper HRE mechanic where the Emperor treated like an actual Emperor rather than some city magistrate that part time as a nanny
Empire has been given gold wizards from other content creators videos. So the empire will get metal magic. They’ve reworked the skill point trees as well
@10:38 If the Landship works roughly like it used to on tabletop, then it will work kind of like a chariot: high charge, with basically nothing in prolonged melee, which is offset by it being very tough. In other words, basically the equal and opposite of the War Wagon.
I like how the engineer has a badass horse clad in iron like a mechanical beast, and then you just have the engineer on top who looks like he’s a hiker who eats Cliff bars and is named Greg
The horse is a mechanical beast
@jansteinhaus5821 and yet they still can't make new tanks, at least in lore xD
I 🤣 at this cause I know one. A Greg who is the "Captain Awesome" outdoor chad that hikes and very likely eats Clif bars. Not the empire engineer. I don't know any of them
Legend explaining what “eat shit” meant was truly one of the moments of all time
I actually like the idea that some factions don't have a generic mage lord, especially those factions that compensate for that lack with technology. It makes the game more diverse
i feel like im alone screaming this all the time so thank you
but yeah, magic feels far better when it is limited by a hero wizards with hero caps.
Can you imagine a Grey Wizard in a Slayer army? Dwarfs never looked so intimidating now.
A horde of angry suicidal dwarfs charging at you out of nowhere... *shivers*
Gold Wizard is on!
Looks very good. Hopefully we get a Middenheim/Boris DLC/FLC eventually that completes the Empire. Maybe it adds a religion factor to the empire as well as new high tier infantry units for the empire. Knights of the white wolf, Tutogen Guard, Wolf-Kin...
Yeah him and the red duke.
I'm still hoping for Tilea and the merchant prince's, I want my dueling cults and assassin's
"Across the board" - Marky Dog remains forever harassed by lizards if he does anything but turtle.
Good! Screw the Conquistadors! All my friends HATE the conquistadors!
Yeah but who cares about lil mark?
Give Markus a warband upgrade style mechanic. He's out there alone his boys should learn to upgrade their gear.
One thing I think he should have mentioned about Elspeth is that she gets a lot of physical res and removes magical attacks from units around herself. Also generic metal wizard will be added in this update.
The best thing I saw about the Gelt changes, (Great Book of Grudges video), is that for the gold college of magic he can permanently unlock the Golden Orb Cataclysm spell as a bound spell for himself and then through research tree get two casts per battle. He is going to be absolutely disgusting in battle.
Also Vlad/Isabella need a chieftain system like Tamerlane. In lore vampire patriarchs have a coven of mortal agents, the most useful of which are promoted to vampire. This should be recruiting von carstien bloodline lords should work. The rest of the mortal coven then contribute 3 units of their factions(bretonnian cav, empire handgunners ect)
Wouldn't belkors daemon prince mechanic fit better?
Since you ask at 7:10. Hochland is just the german word for highland so the "ch" in Hoch is a throat sound like in the words kochen (cooking) or Wache (guard) and many more . Since it is pretty much impossible to do that sound as an native english speaker the version that sounds like "Hockland" is easily the better then the "Hotchland" . Germans know that english speakers have difficulties with the throat ch and that they spell it as ck so everyone would understand that Hockland means Hochland ... :D
"Since it is pretty much impossible to do that sound as an native english speaker"
Doubt that, considering English is a Germanic language. Logically, it would be more difficult for a native Latin (Italian, Spanish, French, etc.) speaker.
@@BloodwyrmWildheart then lets put it this way.. its very difficult for a native english speaker to do it , and without any example how it sounds and training how its done pretty much Impossible since in english throat sounds like this simply dont exist. Spanish speakers for example have a lot of them so they naturaly know how to do it when they hear it . But of course you are kind of right since nothing impossible and everything language wise can be learned but it takes time
Adding a spellcaster lord for the empire means adding one for each (or at least most) lore the faction has access to, and that means a lord of each school of magic. A Bright Wizard lord, an Amethyst Wizard lord, a Celestial Wizard lord, etc etc etc. That's a lot of different models.
Summon the Elector Counts!
No I'm Karl franz
@@Thecountofstgermaine Elspeth > Karl the cuck of total war warhammer 3
Oh boy time for my 99th franz campaign
I think I speak for many when I say: WELCOME TO CATHAY GENTLEMEN! I WILL NOT LIE....
Wait summon the elector counts teleports units to Karl. Niceeeee
You didn't think we'd forget about (DLC Lord) Volkmar, did you?
Because we did
I'm glad that they're changing the imperial authority mechanic a bit. By the time you stabilize yourself as Karl, much of the empire is either dead or about to be.
Tomb kings dont have generic mage lords in addition to Khorn and Empire
Same for Norsca
And Norsca
The elector counts will want to hear about this
I have to appreciate the Imperial Gunnery School mechanic for how thematic it is. This particular academy is Nuln's claim to fame in the Empire and its state troops are the creme of the crop for the Empire's artillery squads and ranged infantry. It only makes sense that, along with Elspeth Von Draken and Theodore Bruckner, the two get to call on Nuln's best sharpshooters, both with handheld and crew operated hardware.
Also, I've done some digging. There IS room for the empire to receive a spellcaster lord. "Empire Wizard Lords," which are said to be masters of their particular wind of magic. These men and women are known for their immense magical abilities and finnicky flights of fancy. The only people able to get them out of their laboratories are those who can afford them, or situations that absolutely NEED them.
The thing with the Volley-gun steam tank and landship is that this reminds me just how broken the recruitment system is for getting these things. In-lore, steam tanks are irreplaceable and "Marienburg-class" landships are downright poor imitations in lore, you just know that these things are gonna get spammed and wreck AI's shit in Warhammer 3.
We put a rework in your rework
If they pull it off will you cry?
My autism powers are growing - soon it will be time for another 100 empire campaigns with sfo and mixu. :D
Great changes! Looking forward to trying these!
Looks cool. Excited to try this rework. Let’s hope the reality meets the expections
Legend = Stannis the Mannis confirmed! 16:28
Brilliant review, thanks🍻
mate really managed to sound energetic at 2am down-under-verse time. Thanks for the update
SUMMON THE ELECTOR COUNTS!
Nice ability/mechanic. Very fitting.
Can't wait to play a new Empire campaign!
the empire getting some love from CA is fulling me of joy and i'll go back on the game to test all of that!!!
Just start to LOVE this :-)
Just occured to me watching that land ship: why haven't we had massive single units that take up multiple unit slots? Like make that bad boy take three slots, make it huge, allow your flying troops to land on it, etc... Like a mini moving siège battle.
because that would be unneccesary and silly? why make it take more than one unit slot? no single entity will ever be strong enough to be worth that. you think this thing will be stronger than a dread saurian.
@@Weberkooks Now hear me out. What if, Chorf Mega train with each car being individual unit slots of blunderbusses, dreadquake mortars, etc, with omnidirectional firing?
Because people’s PCs would blow up
you mean, a horde like unit ?
@@Weberkooks Well thats my argument: it woudlnt nececssarily be a "unit" in the sense of a group of small entities fighting. It would be more like a "mobile war platform" or something. That Marrienberg war-ship is a perfect example: makes it larger (lets ignore pathing issues for the moment) and allow to have other units on it, completely immune to small melee units like orc boyz, pushing the player and the faction to create new solutions (give ice magic the ability to create walls or something)... we can argue about the semantics, but i think WH total war is missing massive mobile military structures in their armies. Would love to see it in WH40K TW, since it would make more sense to the lore.
What I love most about this release is the excitement in the voices of Legend and Milk&Cookies. Missed you guys - well at least your passion for the game. Welcome back
Tbh, theese changes look really lovely, I hope it won't dissapoint in the end!
Good thing gelt is well versed in the ways of napalm.
Legend is happy rare thing to see 😂
I guess that's another Karl Franz playthrough coming up
Yeah Nathan and Zerkovich did really good jobs explaining things
Dahv has some battles as well
I am looking forward to playing with the new empire mechanics. Very much so!
Summon the elector count !
Had to say it so cool !
lol after tens of Empire campaigns I have never used the Summon Elector Counts button. I didnt even know it existed!
hoooly package on the long rifles, not just their rifles that are long. 😲
@LegendofTotalWar The tomb Kings also don't have generic caster lords
They seem to have a good understanding of what the problems were, and their solution make sense in theory. Promising!
can't wait to try and play gelt
I really appreciate faction that are not just "the gun faction"
Elspeth with her amethyst stuff AND the Imperial Gunnery School feels like a really interesting thing I HAVE to play.
I say with the UTMOST respect: I want my Total War news from you. You're totally unbiased and on OUR side. Sending love from the states bud. Cheers to you.
Ikit Claw : I have the best - best armanents of all things!
Elspeth : Hold my black rose!
looks like the empire finally made it to the year 1873 and met mr oliver winchester, given the look of some of those firearm models
I see Legend doing some dirty cheesy things with that colleges of wizards mechanic. And I'm here for it
There needs to be a manscaped ad for those hochland long rifle units. They packing more than just heat 🤣
Looks good. Might buy this in 1-2 years if they keep up making many more reworks and game improvements
The Dwarfen Engineer gets some buff from the mods that adds (gryocopter hull based) mechas or of course the thunderbarges, so when they level up they can use a Thunderbarge or a cool Mech mount that makes them fast and good ranged/close combat fighters.
just when i think i'm out, they pull me back in
i like it, the e,pire brings in the potential warhammer has, because there could be so so so so much more expansions with the empire. they're now actually touching the potential and i like to see where they go next with other factions.
I have 1,3k hours in WH3 and I've learned about Summon the elector counts from this post.
Seems like making this button more visible is a good decision.
no lord that boosts knights of the blazing sun - sadly true, but they are boosted by a fire wizard (kindleflame). combo with some other units with banners of flame too. whole army is boosted by your wizard, lord can go mainly yellow or blue. That army works quite well vs certain types of foes, vamps, tombkings, troll heavy forces etc.
regarding my opinion on the rework - I hope there is more stuff to spend authority/fealty on, and I hope all empire factions start with mutual defensive and military access pacts and trade agreements - further more there needs to be a feature that 'calls the electors to war' - which they MAY have implemented according to these notes.
Looking forward to playing some WH3 again with this update, of course after I've dealt with all my workshop items that are now defunct.
Hochland like hock with a soft k sound. Like a Scot says Loch
I hear "Imperial Gunnery School" and by Sigmar, my body and wallet is ready. I feel like our Empire has had plenty of faith and steel, but we might have been running low on gunpowder in recent years.
16:36 I literally looked over from my other monitor but we're safe, Legend covered the mistake for them
Being able to actually summon the elector counts to Karl is cool
Very happy to see CA is back in the game
yes, finally reason to play Empire!
Ive noticed my last few Franz campaigns that one Eye is knocking on altdorfs door by the time I secure the first province and helmgart. And this is not wasting any turns, taking a new settlement every turn including helmgart.
Creative Assembly doing my man dirty.
This empire rework actually has me very please and exited to play
I'm a fan of Empire factions, so I'm really, really happy with this rework! Looking forward to it enormously. Elspeth DLC might be the first one I pick up when it's released! (But to buck the stereotype, I play other factions too, not just Empire :D )
Tomb Kings don't have a generic caster lord.
"and the marryinburg landship" AND people said they might not added that LOL!
Its nice that each empire faction has their own mechanics now. Looking forward to this rework more than the new content lol
Someone cooked here...
Knights of morr will be knights that can hang around in combat, and don't have to rely on constantly charging in and out. So like the Bull knights from ostland
SUMMON THE ELECTOR COUNTS!
that camo netting on wagon mortars looks spicy as hell. imagine a few of them going out ahead, unseen, out of range, constantly harassing with impunity
Or the Black Lion hellblaster RoR - that's messed up: mobile, invisible hellblasters
Always been my favourite Faction.
lol poor Gelt, sent to Nam to gather homework
This is more like it ! Empire has always been my favourite but I wasn't pleased with Wolf-fart, the units and the reworked empire mechanics always felt half-baked. Really happy about the engineer hero but I'd probably prefer a caster lord over the master engineer.
My boi Balty moving house will be a change for sure but since he's my most played lord I probably need the change of scenery as much as Gelt.
I havent played WH3 for a loooong time, this is making me a bit hyped up again.
I am so excited to see how empire campaing will be in 5.0!
I'm really optimistic about the Empire rework. It looks really good on paper, and I'm excited, but I think I have to see the actual numbers for some of the new units and stuff like that before I can really make a final decision on it. Excited though, very excited
Dude, I love how you shout out other content creators.
Prestige is now "FranzCoinz"
