First time I have seen your Friar tuck hairstyle from above, reminds me when I was in my 30's I got in a lift with mirrors all round and it was the first time I noticed the bald spot on top of my head. I was so annoyed with it when I got home I shaved it all off and have shaved my head for the last 30 years. Certainly saved me a lot in getting my hair cut at the barbers! Respect for wearing it mate.

Personally I’d have gone further up towards the "first" snatch before moving the winch, which may have been quicker, but the way you moved the back end round was great.
I live near Jacksons and can confirm they are a decent family firm which has been there as long as I've known in my 50 years. I was amused at the southerner Greg mentioning Scotland 🤣

Looks spot on once you get the bed sorted, should make a bit of £ either as part of the fleet or to fix up and sell.
Personally id be keeping it for a bit to see how it works out, the spec and crewcab makes it a very versatile vehicle.
Already priced up some new steel decking not too bad really just time! , BUT yes is on a list to be done very soon regardless if sell or keep. Keep the sla at a steep angle and uses slippys to get the back wheels to the road. Then use release the winch and use the sla bed to push the car off. Keep your slippys under just the front wheels. As soon as all four wheels hit the road pull the bed out from under the car. But well done for your first sla recovery. The trick with an sla is to use the bed as much as possible to scoop or drop.

Astounding "guess work" ! Looks like the beast was a good choice. How's about rigging a low, horizontal pulley bar a the rear of the bed to reverse the winch direction ? Winch the buggers off ! 17K+ to 44K in 6 (ish) months is "going some" Brilliant entertainment for us plebs! Great to see intelligent professionalism. Nice.
Carry fairy liquid and put don't bed flat to unload shake bed then when push the back wheels with sla so much easier mate
saves your back, let gravity help :p
Only problem with fairy liquid would go straight through the holes on this bed 🤣 , yes ive heard about the shake technique before, something I will learn over time no doubt, should be getting sent some dolly's soon so will be much easier again! Mercedes are very solid trucks. I can speak from experience. Drove one with almost 1 million kilometers at the odometer. Sold in 2022 and starts a second life in Africa.

I live 20mins from jackson recovery and about 5yrs ago I broke down in a iveco luton and Its was jackson that recovered me to the garage and I'm sure it was that truck they came in aswell

The merc don't look to bad Greg. That's one you got to keep. It will look good with all the livery on 👍. Nice spacious cab...and the size of the body 😮. You will get it to the standard you want...and more money to spend for equipment to go in truck.

with skids you could off just push on the back of the car instead of the cable ripping the under carriage off the motor

Never knew front wheels can lock on the turn, could you have jacked up front and manually straighten wheels.

I do have to admit i love the Leyland daf however I do feel that if he gets this merc repaired restored and marked up it would be a great work horse for him for things the daf can't do
I love the LEYLAND too! Hard upcoming decisions really! Mercedes certainly has better earning potentials with spec lift , tow bar, and extra seats! You don't need the body all the way off on a sla so you could have done what you would do with a normal tilt and slide mate
Idle up by pulling right hand exhaust brake stalk towards you, idle it to 1200rpm once PTO in and the pump will love you forever, bed will be faster aswell

That Merc should have cruise control....if it has put the p.t.o. in and build the revs up by pulling the right lever towards you

Some new check plate down on the bed she will sound as a £ , I take it you never got to keep the TOW registration , new to the channel first one I watched was the one with the 🛎️ end who tried to cancel on you changing the tyre , you were so fair with him , hope it cost him a fortune to get it sorted plonker , keep up the good content it’s. 👍🏻from me

I really think you’ll do well by keeping this truck! It has so much potential especially with the angle and the sliding winch.
I loved how you shifted the back end over when loading the Jag.
How did you get it to slide off when offloading? I didn’t quite understand what you set up to pull it off.
I think he unstrapped it and then winched it put those things under the tires to make it slide and slowly let gravity do its job by putting slack on the winch

Never leave home without some kit, my car boot has heavy duty jump leads, trolley Jack, wood, tool bag, rad weld water, engine oil, spare wheel, no room for anything else....... maybe I need a van 😂, always remember that you never knowwhat you come across when out and about

In all fairness ive not actually checked the MPG I can't see it being a million miles apart both 6 litre engines merc has 6 speed, leyland has 5 speed, sooooooo dont think it will be to much difference and merc bonus of 3 tanks!

Greg why dint you winch the car on from the rest end it would of been slot easier if your daughter had come with you in the four wheel drive to tow the car from the front end
Would of done but too orqard reversing back into the main road with nobody to watch me back, Could of towed it with land rover to get it off, but Im the recovery operative one man band and can't rely on help, so would rather struggle on my own and get the job done single crewed! Since April 2022 ..its illegal for a Passenger to film a driver , classed as Distraction both Driver and Passenger there's a £200 fine Each + Points on both Licence's if Passenger has one.
