Ya, insane that people don't understand that guns save lives.
If the school & the society can’t or won’t assure the learner’s survival, then no education will occur. Tennessee is throwing its educational resources and taxpayer funds down the drain. Learning & education are based on the understanding that people are motivated to achieve certain needs and that some needs take precedence over others (Maslow’s “Hierarchy of Needs”). Our most basic need is for physical survival, and this will be the first thing that motivates our behavior. Once that level is fulfilled the next level up is what motivates us, and so on. These are, in order: 1. Physiological needs; 2. Safety needs; 3. Love and ‘belongingness’ needs; 4. Esteem needs; and 5. Self-actualization needs where new learning finally happens.
Tennessee doesn’t want education
All Tennessee is doing is giving teachers the option to legally carry in case such an incident should happen. They will still be responsible for their teaching duties. Doubt you've even read the bill.
Maslow's model is flawed though.
@@Sarcasmarkus How so? I'd like to know...
@@nonsibi1087 people regularly forgo their "baser" needs inorder to achieve their "higher" needs, extream athletes, firefighters, police members and members of the military for example will put themselves in personal danger to achieve their higher goals which is the exact opposite of Maslow's model. There's other models that don't stack them and instead talk about them a bit more dynamically. The human needs models whichever you use a solid tool for explaining human behaviors & motivation.
More of the gun lobbies James or Jane Bond, good guy with a gun advertising fantasies. We all know how it went down in Uvalde. People die, that's the reality..
And how did that particular situation end up getting resolved.
People died in Uvalde because everyone who had a gun refused to go into the school. Uvalde is the reason why we need this common sense bill. The fact that you are against it is disturbing.
@@spaceace4387 Everyone in Uvalde with a gun were supposed to be trained law enforcement professionals. Perhaps we should make sure the children are packing as well.
@@lancejordan2561 there is nothing I’ve said that would even suggest that we might as well arm children. The Uvalde police not responding is irrelevant, you are arguing non sequiturs and not all police departments are the Uvalde police. Children are not trained professionals therefore they shouldn’t carry, teachers who don’t go through training shouldn’t carry. But if more teachers who are trained are carrying there is a greater chance they will stop the intruder. Why anyone would ever be against that is beyond me and I’ve yet to hear one convincing reason why this is a bad idea. You are pretty bad at debating and I have a feeling the only reason you’re against the bill is because the far left fake news told you to. When Barack Obama’s children went to school they had private , tax payer armed security with them, why were guns in school ok then but no ok for people who aren’t as privileged?
@@lancejordan2561 you’re also using one instance where the police didn’t do their job as a justification to say that it’s likely any trained professional won’t do their job which is not only fallacious but disgusting as well. Guns save lives, that is indisputable. You don’t want teachers to be able to defend their students because you know if an armed teacher takes down an intruder your entire anti gun narrative will implode on itself. You don’t give a good crap about children or anyone who’s been a victim of gun violence.

@@Sarcasmarkus For the security of the state , a well-regulated militia is necessary. In that context, the people, in a well-regulated militia , have a right to bear arms. Really? Have you read the 2nd Amendment? It's a Collective Right to assure an armed militia. The text is: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." It was to assure enough weapons for the National Defense. In typical 18th century style, the comma after "A well regulated Militia, ..." was used as we use a colon today, as defined by the Oxford English dictionary: "a punctuation mark (:) used to precede a list of items, a quotation, or an expansion or explanation." It's about the Militia.
In 1789, the US was NOT arming its Militia, which comprised the bulk of the ARMY at the time. The US was broke. Not until well into the 1790's and culminating with the Militia Act of 1808 did the Federal government exercise its obligation to assure that the Militia was armed. By the 1850's, the Militia was eliminated by being federalized as the National Guard. So, after that time, the 2nd Amendment was obsolete.
