I haven’t found much footage or any information on Boca, how bad was the storm surge? This is so nerve wracking, just wanting any information about the island.
From what I've heard the surge wasn't bad on the island, it was more wind damage... South beach bar was a total loss sadly. Also Whiddens marina is badly damaged... Hard to find much out about Boca unfortunately.
I find little or no coverage of Boca Grande. I have heard unconfirmed reports that Widdens is gone, South Beach is gone, Gasparilla Marina is gone, the roof on the Pink Elephant is gone and the downtown tower fell on the bakery. I don’t know if any of this is fact and if anyone knows please post. My heart goes out to Boca Grande and all Floridians.
Same here. And nothing on Placida. I did hear and see that South Beach is gone, as is the marina, and the bakery did get hit by the tower. As of yesterday, the roads were impassible. So very sad, many happy memories on BG
Those houses are built on steel pilings piledrived 40 feet into the ground... they're really not going anywhere unless the entire island does... I've fished and worked on that island. Watched this storm from Ohio....

My mom took this video at whatever house she was staying at, I don't know the exact location. I don't believe it was at the far north or south end.
