- ☞ 👀 We had the opportunity to visit Shipshewana Indiana to see the largest Flea Market and tour the town. What a great little community. Being able to ask all our questions with our Amish Buggy Driver was a blast. RV Living has some amazing perks and just some fun days out to see the different areas is probably our favorite thing about living life on the road. We hope you have the chance to take a day in Shipshewana Indiana and see all the great things to see.

Thank You for this video!! I live in Indiana. I haven’t been to Shipshewana since I was a little girl. It was such a beautiful ride along. Thank you to the driver for all of his insight.
A good place to learn about the Amish/Mennonite communities in the area is the Menno-Hof center next to the Farmstead Inn on the south side of town. Rise & Roll those donut holes are the best, we English locals refer to it as Amish Crack…one is never enough. When you are in the area, fill that RV freezer with meat from Yoder Meat & Cheese too.
Us locals have learned to stay away from Shipshewana (we call it shipshe or just ship) on flea market days. We know all the ways around town. lol And Rise and Roll is "Amish Crack"
Specifically, the cinnamon caramel donut holes.
Shipshe is basically a tourist trap
When you go to Ben's pretzels you got to order the the Dutch almond it's like a it's like biting in heaven how sweet he is u all are 🎉🎉
Great tip for when we go back. Thanks
Rise & Roll are the best! Yes, the cinnamon donut holes are my favorite!
Great video and great place to visit! A local Amish mechanic fixed our rv refrigerator and only charged us like $75. We showed up at 6am and he had it fixed within an hour. Seemed like really nice folks.
Hard working people as well as so kind-
We camped there a couple years ago. It was fun!
My Mother would send me over to an Amish family to buy a gallon of milk 5 days a week. On the 6th day she would have one of my younger brothers go with me to get 2 gallons of milk. They would not do business on Sundays. The milk was the best milk I’ve ever had. Thanks for sharing that experience with us. It brought up good memories when I was a child.
Thank you so much for your wonderful video. My father can no longer go to Shipshewana because it is too difficult for him.
He was able to enjoy it once again because of your lovely video. We even got some Rise n Roll donut holes for him to enjoy while watching!
We live about 45 minutes from Shipshewana but we were there about the same time you were. My cousin went in a buggy but since I've lived here I let her go without me.
Love this video! Live very close to Shipshewana ! My grandparents we’re Mennonite and have lots of memories of Amish and Mennonites. If I knew you were going to be there… I would have driven up just to meet you guys in person! Love, love your channel🥰💕❤️
I was at the very start when the flea mkt. began. It was fun and much smaller. It was more Amish and also more antiques back then. I love the flowers .
Glad you finally made it to the great state of Indiana. Lots to see. Loved the video!
Thanks for the great video. Really appreciate all the questions you asked your driver of the horse. Answered a lot of my questions. Thanks again 👍
We were there about a week or so before you guys. Really enjoyed the area and the Amish culture. They were all very nice, hardworking people which I really respect. I was also amazed at the e-bikes a lot of the older women were riding. Found out they charge them via solar power since they are all “off-grid”. Notice many of the younger women and girls riding their bikes barefoot which I thought was a little odd. Kinda rough on the feet I would think. Toured the Grand Design factory and then the Brinkley factory which were worth the time spent. Enjoy your channel…
My wife and I stopped at Shipshewana overnight for an RV repair. We took a carriage ride at the same place you did and went next door to the furniture store. Also went to a clothing store where Omish shop, not a lot of variety but they had some very good boots which is what I was looking for. Loved your interaction with the driver.
If you’re still in Shipshewana area, head over to Dutch Country Market. They have cutting boards. The guy who works there is so nice, too. We love going to Shipshewana. Ben’s Pretzels is a favorite of ours as well as Blue Gate. We just eat at lot when we’re there and buy food to bring home. Lol😂
Ben & Elizabeth Miller are an amazing couple that own Ben’s Soft Pretzels. God has blessed them in so many ways in their life journey as well
The man with the horse and carrage ride drove us around. He was great!
This was so entertaining. The Amish way of life is very interesting.
I’m from Indiana and have been there many time but it’s been 20 years or more. When you can out of the restaurant and said you were going to go in a buggy ride I said outlooks “ I don’t think you’ll get someone to give you a ride “ ( not knowing about his service ). Shut me up quick. There is so much to learn from the community. Excellent good for sure. My wife and I bought a hand made solid cherry bedroom set from a place near there. They took us in a barn filled with sawdust and tools to order it. They were working on several pieces of furniture when we were there. Best money I’ve ever spent. Well worth the price. Thanks for sharing your time there.
I just came across your video of Shipshewana. I live less than 50 miles from there in north central Indiana and I have never been there but have wanted to go. You have let me see more of it and now I need to go. Thank you so much. Subscribed and liked.
It is a cool little town. You will have a great day out.
We went to Rise An Roll, it was amazing.
I went to a Risen Roll in Fort Wayne. I had a bread slice with sausage and stuff in it. It was awesome. I bypassed Shipshewana while I was in IN.
Finally had a chance to watch once we got home from Georgia. What a great video.
I loved the ride you went on thanks for sharing
Great video, I loved your interaction with the Amish the buggy driver.
Hope you liked our area. I live about 20 min to Shipshawana and my grandfather was raised there. His parents were Amish but then they broke away. The rise and roll donut holes you got are my fav. The towns around here have a rise and roll. I enjoy the house and buggy rides. The men that take you around are all very nice. Well safe travels
As some one said to me, AFTER I went there, its like a giant outdoor dollar store. That being said the drive and time spent with my now teenage daughter was the highlight of the trip to Shipshewana.
Years ago saw Amish furniture, just admired the craftsmanship, beautiful furniture. And 15+ yrs ago saw a bigfoot RV in a dealer show room, the cabinets were made by the amish and all the wood work in the whole thing was really beautiful. It stayed in my head as my fantasy (favourite) RV for years lol. 🍻
I like many of your videos but I think that this one was one of the very best.
Oh….those donuts….I agree best donut holes ever!!
I was in shipshewanna just this week, on Wednesday! Love it there! The people are wonderful, and so much to enjoy. Still have that flight available if you are in the area. The colors are getting beautiful
Love the video... very informative! ❤❤❤
The Amish community throughout Indiana and Ohio is great for tourism. Unfortunately there are some that run “puppy mills” and in Ohio you will see the dogs at flea markets and such. Todd you asked every question I would have 😂. Good video.
“Doin’ all the things!”
😂
We live in Ft Wayne IN and those Amish doughnuts holes are referred to as "crack doughnuts"; glad you got to enjoy them.
Love the breakfast ! Great vid,
Loved this! Got to visit Shishe 7 years ago with my sister. Unfortunately we arrived at 8:45 pm in October. Just enough time some biscuits & gravy! Did see one courting wagon.
Making me hungry That was a good buggy ride. thanks.
Great video. I really enjoyed your carriage ride info tour with Mr. JEB,
Keep up the great videos!
That buggy passed on a double yellow line!
😱…🤣🍻
Awesome video. Loved your chat with the Amish driver. Let’s all go to Florida! 😂
Another awesome video. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Todd you should of gotten the Amish Crack. It goes fast so you gotta get there early. But they are the best donuts ever. yeast-raised donut, fried, dipped in caramel, and sprinkled.
Another great video! Love those doughnuts.
Us too!
Since Rise and Roll is a local spot for us they have a few shops around this area small local chain, those Carmel cinnamon we call Amish crack donuts cause they're so addictive im sure they've made a diabetic or two out of some folks
The last time Rocky and I camped with my mom and dad we were there. It was one of their favorite places to go. They loved the flea market.
A trip to Shipshewana has to include a trip to Blue Gate Restaurant with the tourist and a trip to Country Kitchen with the locals
We enjoy your channel and hope we get to meet you someday . We can’t wait until we can get out there and explore. We have our RV and are looking forward to a long trip out west really soon. We enjoy watching your videos from Bowling Green, Ky.
Look for our huddles and meet ups on our website Goswitchitup.com we post a lot of schedules
My in-laws are from Elkhart,we would go there every Christmas.
If you ever get back, I think you'd appreciate the antiques auction in the big barn on the same grounds. Go early to look at the tables, so you know what you want to bid on. Once it starts, several tables will have an auctioneer at the same time. The auctioneers are all Amish. Afterwards, the flea market is adjacent. P.s. the amish vacation community in Florida is called Pinecraft.
I have been there many times I love it. I am surprised you didn't find your cutting board, You, must have not found the kitchen site. they have cutting boards as well as any chicken utensil
They stopped me from videoing in the flea market about 6 year ago. I live about 50 South of Shipshewanna.
Just ran across yall, new sub, enjoyed your video!
Welcome aboard! Glad you found us!
That guy was too cute!!!
Fun video 😊. Thanks for sharing your experience. I’m thinking the speeder was a Uber eats. He had a trailer with a cooler on the back. LOL 😅Thanks From Wisconsin
I live 45 minutes away and have never been there. I hate shopping.
The RV community down in PA purchased an RV for a little Amish girl that had cancer and needed to stay near the hospital during treatments with her family. So the Amish do use RVs when needed. After the girls treatments ended the RV was then sold to help pay for medical expenses.
That was a funny video.
Did you ask what "Blue Gate" means? I had my bridesmaid dinner at The Blue Gate Restaurant in Sarasota FL over 40 years ago (its Yoders now)...and yes, everyone comes here for the winter. Lol....my fathers family came south from Upstate NY since back in the early 1900s....thats how my father ended up down here, where we were born and raised on a dairy farm. If you want to see Sarasota some time, let me know.
Buddy Ride wAS entertaining. Great.
😊😊😊😊😊
Great video
Thanks!
We usually go about 2-3 times a year. You should go to E&S grocery store if you😮 ever get back there
Yeah, I was surprised by the flea market also. I did do an Amish tour last year and bought a beautiful basket and nativity set that was both RV friendly!
Todd, I have a friend that has one of those tables in her R.V. It's beautiful, a friend of her's made it and she replaced
the table that came with the R.V. Look into it.
Loved your conversation with the Amish gentleman. Did you get your cutting board?
Go to Yoders for cutting board
Great video we might have to visit one day!! Did Shelia get her cutting board?
Not yet!
Great video. Did you need to ask the driver if you could video and discuss Amish traditions with him?
Not sure if we “needed to” but we did ask in advance out of respect for them and their way of life
Amish Crack I used to work in Nappanee's
Yes that is a great word!!
I think they had cutting boards accross the street from the resturant, Yoders maybe like pam said below????
If ya like doing these Flea Market places, here is the 1 in Canton Texas, they have full hook-up campground connected as well. Here is their posted description of their Market....................................We are NOT your average Flea Market. With thousands of vendors and over 400 acres, it's easy to see why they call us the World's Largest Flea Market! First Monday, Canton grounds are equivalent to over 400 Football Fields!!
Good guy
He was a fun guy to hang out with for an hour or so. Neat experience
I thoroughly enjoy your video. I don't know if you went to Yoder Meats. My brother-in-law owns that, also my wife is from Middlebury. Great place to live. We are living in Ohio now. You guys need to make a trip to Amish Country in Berlin/Sugarcreek Ohio. Holmes County. Also Sugarcreek known as (Little Switzerland of Ohio). They have the World's Larges Cuckoo clock.
We are headed to Berlin etc. in a about 3 weeks for Charm Days.
Is that Yoder Meats related to the folks that were on St Rd 4 west of 13 until many years ago? I knew of Perry Yoder, a motorcyclist son.
We just went to Sugarcreek a few weeks ago. We started in Coschocton and did the area around there. We loved the cuckoo clock.
The place to go if you need socks and cheap tools.
C4YT = Safe Travels…🍀🍀🍀
C4YT. Cheers from KC ~lisa b.
Hi from the Bimber's
Hello!
Thanks for the birthday card
I used to live there. It was beautiful, and qyiet, but it was difficult to earn a living.
Wait....did I miss it... Did Sheila get her Amish cutting board?!?
Should I went to the cheese factory while you were there maybe next time
Commenting to say I'm not commenting
Yea, definitely not much Amish stuff at the flea market. Cool area, tho.
I really wonder if your buggy driver was actually Amish. His clothes, hat, and beard didn't look very authentically Amish to me and he didn't wear suspenders. My guess he is ex-Amish. (I have ex-Amish family.) Next time visit Mennohof for some very interesting Mennonite/Amish history.
You can stop wondering. I can assure you that he’s Amish. How do I know this? Because he’s my dad.
@@B-Hez His beard is not that long, any older Amish man I’ve ever seen has a long beard. From just across the line in Michigan an hour away
@@lynnschantz9185 what’s your point?
@@B-Hez I take it your not old order Amish? Must not be you have cell phones. My husband and I would deliver hay to Amish farmers in the Shipshewana and middlebury area, and in turn buy the Holstein bull calves. That time frame was late 1970’s thru 1980’s. On several occasions our family was invited to share in the Amish meals, which we did,. What I’m getting at is the Amish men we were associated with were younger and had longer beards, that’s all.
@@lynnschantz9185 well you’re talking about over 40 years ago. Times change. And no I’m not Amish at all anymore. So yes I have a cell phone. Length of beard varies among the men. Obviously the younger men who are just married are going to have a shorter beard due to the fact that they just started growing it.
🇳🇴 C4YT
Amish doesn't like you to take pictures of them.
We asked permission.
C4YT
You just didn't go to the right places to find the true Amish stuff.if you had gone to Lehman Brothers shop you would have found your cutting boards. And more Amish wears. You need a good guide to find your way around.
KUTGW
Enjoying your videos and adventures, but not making the effort to get the driver’s name correct felt a bit…disparaging :-/
