  • Fixing Most Common Problems Rear Wiper Doesn't Work Toyota Highlander 2008-2013
Many manufacturers are using a solid state, electronic wiper module to control voltage supply and intermittent wiper function on newer cars. This eliminates the old-style relay function. Worthwhile testing information regarding these modules is difficult to find. You can use process of elimination to isolate it as the problem. Make a fused power supply wire and ground wire. Apply direct voltage and make the motor run. If it runs and is not growling and noisy, it's okay. Remove the wiper switch and inspect it. Test it for proper voltage supply. If it's okay, then by process of elimination, the module is suspect.
in my case found 3 problems
    1-wiper motor sensor was burned
2-wiper arm does not move stock bad rusted
3-wiper motor gear setting was off

Cliff notes version: the spindle gets rusted. This causes the motor to work harder, overheat, begin working intermittently, and will burn up either the sensor or motor, or the rust will affect the contacts on the motor. In this case, the motor was fine, so they bypassed the safety (the sensor) by jumpering around it, then proceeded to remove the rust on the spindle and the hole the spindle passes through. Thank You for creating this video! The takeaway for me: get a good gear puller ahead of time and buy a new motor. While apart disassemble the spindle, clean it, check the seals, reassemble everything, and be done to avoid spending an hour plus fiddling with the motor disassembly, gear position, etc.

Thank you so much I could not find another video for the same year Toyota Highlander! Really appreciate you taking the video! I bought a new motor 1st then realized that wasn't the problem causing it just like yours was the bolt corrosion causing it all! Sanded it down and used Sil-gluide so we'll see how it does?

Thank you for posting the video of your work. I have just removed the rear wiper motor from my Highlander and have been searching for electrical drawings to explain why there is no voltage getting to the motor. I believe I have a failed thermal sensor as you did.

Thank you for this! I don’t suppose you happen to know where I can buy just the glass assembly piece and not the entire motor do you? I ruined mine trying to get it off but I don’t need a whole motor. I can’t find anything except the entire unit.

Curious to know what this "senser" is down by the carbon brushes.

That's sensor is for overheat and for safety if the sensor is blown or burned out the motor will never work again and must be replaced ,

My rear wiper motor is working on my 2012 highlander, but myy wiper is not working. I can move the wiper with my hand with ease.

    • @WorldRandomVideos
      @WorldRandomVideos  Před 2 lety +1

Hello friend, toyota highlander wipers motor very rarely get burned has lifetime warranty but the when wipers especially rear wipers get stock just like the one in this video rusted over time can't move left or right the sensor inside the motor burn out and you need to replace it or do the tricky thing just like in this video,
This rear wiper highlander 2009 stuck very hard as seen in this video I had to use adjustable puller to remove the wiper it was very bad rusted and corrosion that's why the motor sensor was burned
Here in Canada very wild crazy weather winter very cold summer alot of rain
So wd40 is essential to use offenly
So if wipers can be removed easily that's good,
If motor works but wiper not
      Here are possible causes
1- check the gears and all movements parts for any defects or broken parts or losd
2- remove the wiper motor unit with gear box and turn wiper on to see if motor working OK left and right if the motor is just spins but no left and right movement than the cause is inside gear box and dial with connections metal
This video can help you to see what's going on inside motor unit
Thank you so much and all the best 👍
      Happy New Year 🚵

@@WorldRandomVideos so currently, if I turn the wipers on and open the glass door, i can see the motor itself going left and right, then for the wiper, it doesnt seem to be jammed as I can move it with my hands with easy, from what I see, there is a whole in the face of the motor for the wipers to fit into for it to spin, either the wiper shaft has broken and is not reaching the hole in the motor so is not spinning. If you have whatsapp or something, I can send you a video, I myself live in Ontario and the weather can get crazy here.

Hi Friend 👋 I can imagine your case,
Here are some tops can help you to diagnose the problem
Before you do anything check the fuses box to make sure rear wiper fuse is not blown out burned if so then just replace it. If fuse is ok check the following:
1- turn ignition on or start the car turn wiper switch on now be close enough to the rear wiper to hear or feel the motor if it's spinning try to hear any noise if nothing that means your wiper motor sensor is burned my video shows how to fix this issue
2- if you hear or feel the motor is spinning but wiper not moving thar means either bad connections with dial inside the gear box or gear box it self broken or losing or not fitting right inside gear box,
You need to remove the back door plastic cover ( trunk) cover don't do that if it's cold other wise plastic cover pins or holders will be break best when weather temperature not cold or inside garage just warm temperature
Once you remove back door cover you will see the wiper motor unit remove and deassimple to check for any issues
If you watch my video full tutorial on how to do that from A To Z
      Hope this will help you
Thank you again and all the best 👍
