Yes you want more of the same, you want the story to continue, you want the legend to continue. That's why these games have contributed to our childhood so much. Plus another factor I have noticed is Nintendo games constantly make you work, through puzzles dungeons and what not, they confuse you again and again till the end. It adheres to the saying, there is the reward in the accomplishment. That's another reason I like to play these time to time.

Yeah... but Navi didn't hold my hand during that Gohma. I was scared as hell when that eye appeared because I could hear a crackling sound but had no idea about anything, since the stupid Deku brothers only referred to her as "Queenie" before I ever encountered her, and the Great Deku Tree only referred to a curse inside him.
These days, everyone will know about Gohma before they even purchase the damn game because of things like Twitch and CZcams. The surprise is gone, yet we whine that so many games feel the same and offer nothing different. Then along comes a game like Mario Odyssey or BotW and BOOM!!! surprise. FULL OPEN WORLD ZELDA? WTF?!? ... an open world Mario game, after all these years? And I can control pretty much every hostile? WHAT???
And yet, someone will say "This Zelda sucks because it's not like the others" or "This Mario sucks because controls are so different and you can't get that moon up there without motion controls."
In the end, it's the gamer, especially the overly-informed gamer (since video games are like a kind of magic, and if you know how the trick is done, the magic seems silly), who sometimes ends up ruining the beauty for herself/himself.

The thing why I don't like ps4 or xBox that much is because the only reason why you would ever buy these consoles is because of the exclusives. And these exclusives have no reason not to be on a PC.
But the thing that you can't deny is that Controllers and consoles can change the way how you play games (or how the game developers can make their games).
      Like for example the Wii.
There are so many Games that can only work on that console and his controller.
And even if Changes are small (like the touch pad on the ps4 controller) if someone would make a innovativ controller for the PC, it would be useless. Because no Game would support it or its unique features.
That is why PC Games are limited by the controller, because there is only one controller, every pc Game works with.
The xBox 360 Controller or his successor.
This controller isn't bad, I even have a 360 Controller and use it for many Games on PC, but this controller has nothing new ore special to it (at least not anymore).
That's why I'm hyped for things like HD-RUMBLE it's something new. And that wouldn't work on PC (because like I said nobody would buy this controller, or include that feature in their Game)

Theirs a lot of artists out their we don’t give enough credit to for the art they make, even the failed art pieces. But just because some people said it’s “a failed piece of art” doesn’t mean it’s true. It’s a learning curve, a sign of growth, and an insight into your mind. Let’s give credit to this man, his art and the other artists involved with these ideas at Nintendo. They deserve it more than you would ever know.

That is why games aren't selling like they should be now, is because too many developers are doing what is expected of them by their fanbase via social media and message boards/forums on what games to create.

Take a look at Zelda Breath of the Wild or Super Mario Odyssey. Everyone can complete the story after some time. However these games still have so much content for players who want to become an expert in this game and can encourage players to continue on playing the game, even when the main story line is completed.
Most of the todays open world games are so huge that players are forced to play alot to end the main story but at the same time players have to do the same things all of again.
Nintendo found the perfect balance between in dept potential for a game, awell as people who just want to complete the storyline.
