My heart breaks for Robb when he says “mother” right before he dies 😩 He was just a teenager who went to war to save his Dad and sisters.
And Catelyn 😭 The despair in her voice when she watched her first son die. She already thinks Bran, Rickon and Arya are dead, and now Sansa is with the Lannisters. She dies believing that her entire family is going to die with her like that’s so fucking tragic.

You are right about Robb making a stupid mistake. He actually made two giant stupid mistakes... one was breaking his vow to marry the Frey girl, the other mistake was killing Karstark. Both of them were deadly mistakes.
But you're wrong about Ned. Ned also made a very stupid mistake. He found out about Jamie and Cersei... and he decided to confront and threaten Cersei on her own turf. He not only put his own life in danger, he put his daughters' lives in danger. In the arena of dumbass moves, Ned and Robb are tied for first place.

It's a very simple fact. There are those who do not operate by a code of honor. Hollywood has always shown stories where the honorable characters are the ones who win, but that's not how the real world operates. The mistake Robb made was assuming Frey would be honorable because he himself is honorable. This episode was the most brilliant and brutal reminder that honor has no place in a cutthroat world.

I remember reading this part in my basement room as a teenager in 2007 and losing my mind. It was so bad. I had never experienced that reading a book before. I was throwing my self onto my bed and then onto the floor and threw the book twice while pacing around cursing the name of George R R Martin. My Mom came down to do laundry and just didn't understand until years later as she sobbed through that chapter when she finally read my copy of the book. We watched the show apart and Mom called me about it equally despondent. It's something you don't forget. It's one of "those" moments in pop culture now. Katelyn yelling, "Rob" to her son, the noise and yelling of Rob's wife being stabbed, and Rob slurring out "Mother," and his mother screaming after he dies honestly has been burned into my memory.

(Anyone correct me if I’m wrong) In the books Robb marries Jeyne Westerling to preserve her honour after taking her virginity. Jeyne’s mother _encouraged_ Jeyne to be alone with Robb hoping/expecting that he would eventually sleep with her, and like his father, choose her honour over his own.
It is heavily implied that Tywin was working with the Westerlings to break Robb’s alliance with the Freys by sort of tricking him into marrying Jeyne. This can be backed up by the fact that even though Jeyne was encouraged by her mother to get close to Robb, her mother also gave her medicines to prevent pregnancy. Jeyne also didn’t attend the Red Wedding, so she’s still alive and was even pardoned in the books.

Not enough ppl talk about Cat's mistake. Had she never sent Jamie back to Kingslanding, Tywin would've never risk harming any of the Starks.

If she hadn't released him Karstark would have killed Jamie that night. Remember, he killed the 2 other Lannister boys instead of Jamie. He wanted Jamie and was willing to commit treason to get him. And what do you think Cersei and Joffrey would have done to Sansa? The Starks think Arya is in King's Landing, too.

It's so refreshing seeing people getting this, in that time breaking an oath is not at all a smart choice(to say the least), especially if it's an oath to f*cking Lord Frey, that dude is crazy, even for those times. Robert was the reason that the Starks meet their fate in that wedding, period. Great reactions, you both are not only smart but attentive to the show, more crazy sh*t like this is coming, and yes, winter is coming(sorry I had to say it).

For all the Walder Frey fans this was the pinnacle of Game of Thrones. As someone that was #TeamFrey from the start, this was amazing! So excited about the Walder Frey spinoff. It should have been released already, but sometimes the best things come to those that wait.

The way y’all flew off the couch like 😮 I was right there with you. I honestly wonder how often neighbors call the cops on people watching the Red Wedding. They show up at the door not knowing what to expect and have to hear emotional people wailing incoherently about the Starks.
