I believe dispirite Daryl Sabara and Alexa Vega playing parts in the two Machete films I still believe Machete films either works an alternate universe or as a prequels. KillJoy & Junito aren't Carmen & Juni but just extended cameos in my opinion.
This film was so over the top, corny, and rushed and yet it's still somehow so entertaining to watch. Gotta love how Robert Rodriguez can be so unbelievably over the top and cheesy and still make it unironically enjoyable.
I'll admit that "everyone is your family" doesn't make much sense on its head, sure, but GODDAMN did Spy Kids do it RIGHT! This franchise invested in their nonsensical world and character building from the very beginning, and man does it create one helluva finale payoff here! I can respect a series that fully and wholeheartedly owns up to its message, silly or not. And I know in this case, despite Spy Kids being presented as something silly and fantastical, the imagery of one whole family dropping everything, no matter how important, just to rush to the aid of an emergency is iconic, heartwarming, and honestly an awesome message to send to literally everyone/anyone! That's what spy kids is trying to teach us. If juni and carmen didn't brought their enemies to the light and bonded with them then thats not family.

He seeks forgiveness and decided to make a world where anyone can get a second chance - a videogame world. Extra lives you know. And once Valentin forgave him, he finally got something he dreamed of for 30 years. 30 years spent in regret over his decision, 30 years of his torment are in the past as Valentin forgave him. Maybe this is why i'm so forgiving and i never hold grudges. Because guilt is most heart-wrecking and mind-breaking kind of pain. Nobody deserves to feel so bad.

This is my favorite scene in this movie. Even if you've never seen the other Spy Kids Movie, they give these character so much personality in the brief moments you see them. Dinky being the best example of this.
