I re-wrote the meeting between Fred and Velma from the HBO series "Velma" because I had to.

This really nails down the dynamic the two have always had. Fred's the guy who just goes with everything confidently, while Velma is the one to ask the practical questions to actually keep things grounded.
Having Daphne in the middle since they both have feelings for her could have really made for good drama/comedy.
And also Norville is there for snacks and just enjoys being included.

Honestly, I think the show should've incorporated Fred's supposed 'Face Blindness' or 'Prosopagnosia' into his character, kind of undiagnosed.
That would've made for something interesting to work with!
The first time they meet, Fred doesn't remember Velma because of a time gap that is them sharing Spanish class last year.
But he meets up with people established to have met regularly like Daphne, but he often genuinely gets confused at who they are, though he's usually able to recognize them through distinct, important details like Daphne's red hair or his dad's mustache. It would also kind of explain the scene when Fred vents his issues to Velma again, whom he understood was just a stranger, because it was just the second time they met, and Velma wasn't able to tell him her identity.
He knows there's something wrong about the fact he can't recognize people right away, but he dismisses it as him just being extremely forgetful.
Go to the scene when Fred protects Velma from the school, and Velma tells him her name, and he thinks for a few seconds before recognizing her. Fred would also get scared by her telling him an important detail of their conversation last meeting. This would be when Velma and Fred get to know each other, and when Fred gets to take note of a detail that would help him recognize her the next time they meet: her glasses.

I enjoy this quite a bit. it establishes the issue inreguards to his parents. brings up the history of velma and fred in this universe of being classmates. connectings to that running joke about either not realizing her ethnisity or assuming she is smart enough for him to cheat on due to glasses and her being smart. and brings up that fred does actually have okay grades asudefrom spanish which is relatable. I like how her reaction does give s hint to her attraction to him that was brought up in the show bit leaves wiggleroom inthat regard as she still respects that fred is in a relatinship AND that even if she finds him handsome she doesn't know him that well on a personal level yet. I also REALLY like how you had fred bring up that he is taken and ask for her not to touch him...showing HE respects his relationship with daphne. and I like how velma listens and understands his reasoning for cheating after he explained. also a hint at some seld absorbtion by fred but making it funny because he IS factually handsome, he did end up turninghis music down to listen to her so he isnt a complete jerk and it explains some of his blank looks as well as MAYBE it isnt just him being dumb as he had his soundtrack playing. AND you even bring p velma having a strained issue with her dad by contrasting it to fred's issue. AND connected the sing he listened to during the test nder his breath thathe cheated on her with to the song he is listening to now. chef's kiss on all fronts. XD

This proves that even with the major changes in the franchise, you can still have good material as long as you have great writing. Hey, I just got an idea for an improved dynamic for Velma and Daphne in "Velma"
Remember how Velma said that she's "truth without a filter"? Well, that ends up being a bit of a flaw she should work on... Said flaw drives a wedge between Daphne and Velma all because she inadvertently said something VERY hurtful to one of Daphne's close friends. Daphne, looking out for her friends, felt very betrayed by this and starts to be rude to Velma, though Daphne usually tries to avoid her... It's only when they meet in the bathroom do they talk about Velma's lack of a filter.
It ultimately ends with Velma and Daphne reconciling and apologizing to each other. They also end up being friends later on.
Sorry for the wall of text, but I hope you liked the idea I put out!
