  • Dan finally gets to stop singing his songs of sorrow because he didn't have a cornerstone rye. All I can do is hope it lived up to his hype!

    Looking at the color on that Turkey, I'm thinking Sean might benefit from 9-11 years in a new charred oak barrel.

      ADHD Fishing = you hit on the magical solution. That spray-on only lasted a few hours but long-term pickling or soaking should do it.

    Best rye I've tasted would be THH 2017 but could never buy a bottle with today's pricing at 5-8X MSRP. Best / favorite ryes I keep enjoying = HW Double Rye (unique taste) and Davidson Reserve.

    The best Rye I have ever tried is Hochstaders 16 year Family Reserve at 123.8 proof, and of course it is sourced from Alberta Distillers Ltd by Cooper Spirits. Lot 40 12 year Cask Strength and High West Rendezvous Rye Barrel Select Hungarian Cask finish 108.4 proof are both right there as well.

  • @peterwhite507
    @peterwhite507 Před 4 lety +2

    Try and get a bottle of Barrell Rye 13 year cask strength (Alberta Dist.), they are single barrel /store picks that are around the $100 US mark. I was able to get one through Jason at The Mash and Drum in a trade but have not opened it yet.

    whistle pig total wine store pick 115.2 proof. hard to get hands on any wild Turkey master distillers anything. Whistle pig tops out of 30 different bottles of rye in my collection. ps, standard whistle 10 just ok

      @@BourbonJunkies no doubt, and really the thing is...to get a mouthfeel, finish, and experience like this, you're going to have to pay more money. Sometimes that's just the way it goes. Of course, some expensive ryes are not worth it (KO 11, WP15, WP10...regular not store picks, as those are fucking awesome). But this is just worth more. You get more. Do you ever feel great about dropping $180? No, but goddam this is ballin' rye.
