Sawney Bean and his Cannibalistic Family
The infamous story of Sawney Bean and his Cannabilistic Family is a ghoulish story of a remote family living on the outskirts of Galloway, Scotland. Their estimated 25 year reign of terror had a severe impact on that area of the country. King James VI himself became involved in their eventual capture. Their estimated killings counted over 1000.
    A fascinating tale.
    Hosted by Robin Coles.

Always found this story fascinating. Mainly because I'm not quite sure that it is true.
The tale is just too fantastical. The Beans didn't make a mistake once in 25 years? The larger the group, the bigger the chance of mistakes. So... 🤔🤔🤔

The story comes from The Newgate Calendar which did like to add interest. We are not really able to corroborate much past the Newgate Calendar for 17th century tales. I know it is brought up in tours to see the crown jewels now. Ah well. It makes for a great story. 🙄
