    Your ring box is a killer idea, very creative. You should look into some stabilized and hybrid call blanks, depending on the ring width you'll be able to cut 3-5 sections and make 2-4 rings with each slab. dyed and stabilized call blanks range from $30-75 depending on size and wood variety, but make they some beautiful rings.

    Josh, you have done it again! I love all the creative ideas you come up with and most of all creative ways to use your tools to do so! I've been watching your videos for several years now, and you are still as humble and good-hearted as day one! That in itself is a great achievement as well. Keep up the good work. You are one of a kind and a great inspiration to many. 😊

    The turned oak looks really good on those boxes
    And using one of those Mighty mite table saws with an abrasive disc is a good idea, definitely easier than cutting up a spade bit with a unwieldy angle grinder. It would also make cutting screws and bolts down to length a lot easier, I might have to give that a try

    • @JoshWrightWoodworking

    I make wooden rings aswell without a lathe. I cut them out with a scroll saw and I sand the outside in a similar way to you but on a rod in a handdrill.
    Do you sand the inside? I have been doing that by hand.

    • @JoshWrightWoodworking
      @JoshWrightWoodworking  Před měsícem

      I didn't try copper but I tried brass and brass seemed too hard on my spade bits... couldn't get a clean cut. I don't know how soft copper is but maybe I'll try it and see if it works any better. Thanks for the inspiration.

    How to make wooden rings without a lathe: disregard every aspect of shop safety. My dude, you're gonna seriously hurt your hands one day doing this kind of thing.

      You can tell a lot about a person's common sense by the damage on the fence of their table saw.

    • @mightymight365
      @mightymight365 Před měsícem +1

      Maybe that's his spare "sacrificial" fence. Not a piece of wood, but an entire fence! Dumb or genius? 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @freshlancer
      @freshlancer Před měsícem +3

      @@trevormichel6016 turning the dowel on the table saw the way he did was a big oof. It might not be getting to the back half of the blade, but still trying to hold a round piece against a couple thousand RPM is still asking for a projectile. Worked for several years in a custom cabinet shop and I've seen table saws find creative ways to kick back when you don't respect them.
