    Max had a worse exit out of the final turn on his second lap, and the tow only started to help him past the DRS line.

    • @RadialSeeker113
      @RadialSeeker113 Před 3 měsíci +12

      Yup. Without the tow he wouldn't have accelerated to that point as fast by the starting line when the speed difference is much larger.
      With the worse exit in q3 he would not have accelerated as fast without it before reaching the start line. That's where the major difference is. He would have been 0.01s behind q2 if it wasn't for the tow.

      @@RadialSeeker113The worse exit was due to the dirty air from the car in front, which was offset by the tow. This is how F1 works

    What could also be taken in account is the ERS deployment comparison between the two - he could've benefit of some extra ERS during the pole lap using less of it right at the start, due to being toed and reaching top speed earlier - but we're speaking MAYBE 1-2%. Other than that, great analysis.

    thanks, appreciate the interesting content. One question I don't quite follow the "Power Limited" comment. In principle if the drag is reduced enough by the tow then the cars would only have have rev limited top speed based on gearing. For illustration the world speed record for a push bike (1 human power) on level road is 296 km/h or 183.93 mph (crazy but true, and also paced in aero shroud ) . With enough of a tow even just the F1 ICE engine would be capable of huge speed with the right tow.

    • @yelistener
      @yelistener  Před 3 měsíci +2

      No I was referring to the relationship between earlier acceleration and top speed, because some would think that since 2nd lap he had a tow in early acceleration (pre-310km/h) it should've had a higher top speed.
      As you can see, 2nd lap kinda stuck at 322-321km/h. It just reached that speed earlier than 1st lap.

      @@StanArctic yea the energy deployment is a big one.. cause they full charge and totally deplete the battery in one lap (in racemode they have it setup to have an even distribution every lap probably.. or something like that).. I dont know if this gives them full deployment on every straight for example or even more. I think they say the hp from the electric is around 150hp.. if you can use that often that would do very nicely for a single laptime.

      those miniscule corner exit difference has zero effect on 280+ kmh acceleration. here he clearly gains 0.08s with the help of tow. moving across the track cost some of that, but net gain was still positive, even accounting for more distance traveled by crossing the track

    The start-finish line being closer to the last turn wouldn't make a difference in terms of time gained. The amount of time Max gained in terms of distance (= 4 frames worth) would stay the same by turn 1. That isn't dependent on the start-finish line, only on the overall tow regardless. He would be the same distance ahead of his earlier comparable lap.

I am a bit tired of your fanboyism, so I am going to take a break from your videos.
