    People are emotionally attached to objects that can bring back old memories. I am selling my 22 year old car to Peddle today. Its motor just blew up beyond repairing yesterday. When I was cleaning up the trunk and hidden corners of the car, I found old stuff that was part of my memory. I remember the excitement of the first day my father purchased it after my college graduation, the day my ex left me, the time I dated with my new girl friend now my wife, the wedding, the vacation trips on the country roads, the moment that my baby girl crying in the car seat, the after school hours when I picked up my daughter.....The farewell sad feeling same as you.

    Long vent/rant warning 🙃:
    Ik its a two year old video, but watching this definitely helped me calm my nerves dealing with the whole process and emotional side of selling lol. I'm about to give away my car of 4 years. My 2007 toyota corolla got me through college, a couple relationships, jobs, and anywhere else she was able to take me. Earlier this year some carjackers stole and trashed her pretty bad to the point of no return. I held on for months hoping i could get her fixed and safe to drive again, but man i cannot afford the repairs. I'm just glad i got her back so i can at least get some money but also properly say goodbye. Gonna miss you, Chloe :(

    Naming your car isn't creepy at all. For most of us, we spend more time in our vehicle than we do with most of the friends we have in our lives. I never named my cars, but I refer to my SRT as "her" or "she" because I love her so much heh heh.

    I'm kind of assuming they trying to haggle the price down when they show up, at least that's what I've heard. Maybe it's the difference between selling them a refurb or a straight out junker.

    If you just sign the title over with no notary there.... how do you prove you sold the car?.... as far as being responsible for “registration”. I’m getting rid of my van. Not sure if they will register the vehicle in their name and use it to part out or junk it.

    Hey Clare, I'm going to sell my junk car on peddle now thanks to your video. Quick question, though it's an old car (2005) My Camry has very low mileage and it has been a very reliable car for me as transportation to and from school. When the throttle went it was going to cost me $1,000 to fix. Because I'm starting an online business I don't really need the car anymore so I don't want to put any money into it...including the new battery it needs. It makes more sense to sell it for what I can get for it and use the money for my business. So....my question was should I tell a white lie and say it runs and starts? Because it does and has been very reliable as Toyotas generally are...but only if the throttle is fixed and has a new battery.

    • @clarekirste
      @clarekirste  Před rokem

    I got my first car in 2006 and it was a 2006 Honda (I actually remember test driving that body style Pilot at the dealership) so I felt the sentiment extra hard. I also had a few scares over the years that freaked me out with the thought of parting with it. The biggest was in 2018 when the engine needed an $8,000 rebuild on a car with 290,000 miles. I was devastated at the idea and dreaded the day I'd have to part ways.......but that day never came =) After 6 months of agonizing dread, I decided that my memories and sentimental attachment were worth 8k even if the vehicle was aging. I still have it to this day and it currently has 340,000 miles on it. Still runs great and I love having it so much that when I bought a 2021 Toyota Tundra 1794 2 years ago, I realized I loved the old one so much that I bought a second. So now I have 2 vans from 2006 and a 2021 Tundra and if any of them needed a transmission or engine rebuild, I'd do it in the heartbeat. The moral of the story is that sometimes it is time to move on, but other times you can't put a price on memories....even at $8,000 ;) I hope today your sadness has faded though!
