👉 Avoid Wasting Time with Non-Serious Buyers When Selling Your Car Privately
✔ You Will Get Inquiries from People Who Aren’t Serious Buyers:
Many people, including many dealers, are only contacting you to see if they can score a sweet deal and aren’t severe buyers or might even be scammers.
✔ How to Avoid Time-Wasters and Scammers with Good Screening:
A few simple questions will quickly reveal who the time-waster and scammer are.
✔ The Tangled Webs Scammers Weave:
Learn about some of the most common scams so you can be on high alert to quickly weed them out.
👉 Avoid Stranger Danger When Selling Your Car
✔ Serious Problems are Rare but Can Happen:
Don’t have complete strangers come to your home to see the car because they could have bad intentions.
✔ How to Stay Safe When Selling Your Car Privately:
Don’t give out your personal information. Always meet in public places like store parking lots with video surveillance cameras.
👉 Avoid Getting Scammed: Safe Forms of Payment
    ✔ How Scammers Fake Payments:
Cash could be counterfeit. A personal check could bounce. A cashier’s check can be faked. A wire transfer may never materialize.
✔ How to Avoid Scams with Safe Ways to Accept Payments:
Have buyers meet you at your bank to make payment and never give your car to the buyer until payment has fully cleared.
👉 Avoid Fraud Claims After Selling
✔ Your Liability When Selling “As-is”:
Even though you’re selling “as is,” a disgruntled buyer could still sue you if there’s something wrong with the car.
✔ How to Avoid a Fraud Claim:
Be honest about anything wrong with the car or repairs you know need to be done and disclose those in the Bill of Sale.
👉 Avoid Post-Sale Liabilities by Completing Change of Ownership
✔ What Happens After Selling Could Still be Your Headache:
Until the buyer registers the car they bought from you, it’s still yours, and you could be held liable for any crimes committed using your car.
✔ How to Avoid Post-Sale Liabilities - Change of Ownership:
Find out if your state has a “release of liability” form to protect you or go to the DMV with the buyer to do all the proper paperwork.
👉 Avoid the Time, Stress and Hassles of Selling Your Car Privately
✔ Selling Your Car Privately Can be a Painful Process:
Doing it right takes a lot of legwork and can involve a lot of stress and hassle, not to mention the risk of being scammed.
✔ How to Avoid Wasted Time and Stress when Selling Your Car:
One way to avoid all that is by selling to a reputable car-buying service like Driveo, where you’ll get more than you would at a dealership.

When using a bank check/certified check/cashier's check, just call the bank and they'll indicate whether the check is valid or not. Use the phone number from the bank's website, and make sure it's a known/local/regional/national bank. I did this and they were very nice about validating the check amount and name on the check. The check cleared overnight.

I had a conversation with a family member about some of these points. 4:10 The BUYER is not getting the car until the cash is legit or the funds clear at the bank. If they are serious about the car, they can wait 3-4 days... I'll even deliver the car to them if needed, like Carvana, LOL!

This was a clear, concise and helpful video. The background music was a serious distraction and an irritant to thinking while watching.

Primo Number One rule#. Don't hand over the keys, until the money hits your actual account from the fully identified individual.
Wish you were in Melbourne, Australia.

LOL this entire video designed to scare people into accepting a low ball offer from Driveo rather than selling privately for maximum profit

Thanks for the information but what if when you try to find the value or even search the VIN its listed as not available (due to the car being a classic)?

I’m a female and am unsure if I should allow the buyer go for a test drive on my Honda CRV 2018. The car is still a baby so why going for a test drive? I’m uncomfortable to be in a car with a stranger…

anyone who sells a car in empty lot or not at their address is a curbstoner or scammer of some kind. Cameras in a parking lot won't do much good once the scammer is long gone.
