What’s Stalling My Weight Loss? Sneaky, Creepy things to Watch For...

  • Wondering, "What's Stalling My Weight Loss?" Realize that Big-Food is in business to make money, not to improve your health, or help you lose weight. When you understand this concept, you will understand why they can't resist sneaking sugar into their products and then tricking you into thinking they're healthy.
    Sugars can be renamed and hidden in many, many products, even in products that don't taste sweet at all. Spicy, hearty sauces, soups and dressings can be filled with enough sugar to stall your weight loss.
    Other non-sugar additives can also elevate your insulin levels and stall your weight loss. Products promoted specifically for weight-loss are some of the worst examples of this...

    Definitely love this, I stopped using packaged anything mostly. I am going to try your bacon mayo! I have lost 50 lbs. and weight loss is slowing just a little but I keep tweaking everything to stay on the straight and narrow! I am used to no sugar and can taste it in anything now in a restaurant. Keep em coming Doc! xoxoMarjorie

      I am desperately looking for the answer of my question: Could it take a while for the weightloss to kick in while on keto? I am asking, because I have been keto-ing now for 3 weeks and nothing. No weight loss at all. I am using the keto sticks (I know, they are not super accurate, but at least I have an idea) and I seem to be in the middle range of pink/red. Since I am European, I don't eat processed or ready packed food anyway. I always stick to fresh food. So I cut out all sugar, wheat, carbs below 20 g per day and still nothing. Can it be that for some people fit just takes a little longer for the body to switch? I feel good, but I am waiting for the weight loss....sniff

      @@Dragon-wl5ic hi, I'm European too😊 I strongly suggest you to begin intermittent fasting along with keto diet does wonders! And stick to those 2 methods for a while, don't quit if you are not losing. Sometimes, the scale is stalled but the morning after, suddenly, the scale has a huge number down (it happened to me, I didn't lost anything for 2 weeks, then one morning I weighted myself and I was 2kg down!!) Keep up

    • @Dragon-wl5ic
      @Dragon-wl5ic Pƙed 5 lety +1

      @@giorgiaathens674 thanks so much for your reply. I quit the keto thing. It did nothing for me, I didn't feel good and I was very bloated during this time. It didn't feel right if you know what I mean. I was in keto, according to my keto sticks, but I didn't feel well, energized or whatever and I did not lose anything, even after six weeks. It was just not for me and the fact that I wasn't allowed to eat fruit killed me a little. I still avoid the big carbs, su h as bread, pasta, rice etc., but I eat fruit and added beans and legumes. I also added potatoes to my diet, as they are full of good stuff. I feel way better. I'm less bloated and feel healthier altogether. I know keto works for a lot of people, but I might be the odd one where it doesn't work, lol. The most important thing for me is, that I feel good and I didn't while doing keto. Anyhow, I'm very happy that it works for you!!

    Dr. Berry--------After watching one of your other videos, I did my own experiment! The first morning I had my coffee with heavy whipping cream like you advised and my blood sugar did not move. It stayed at 83! No breaking my fast!!!
    The next morning, I had my coffee with my Sugar-free hazelnut creamer-----My blood sugar moved up to 120. No food, just coffee and the sugar-free creamer!?! I looked in the ingredients and the second ingredient is Corn Syrup** The asterisks alert the consumer that there is a "TRIVIAL" amount of sugar; however, it made my Blood sugar move up to 120! Also, there is vegetable oil in the sugar-free coffee creamer!!! This creamer is marketed to those consumers that want to keep blood sugars low---not raise them! What a surprise! I've used this s/f creamer for years, but no more! Soybean and canola, maltodextrin, Sucralose, oh my! Thank you for opening up my eyes to this journey of health!!!!

    I can’t thank you enough Dr Berry! Your videos are a treasure trove of information & encouragement & I appreciate them very much! Back in February I started losing weight doing a combo of calorie & carb reduction (calories kept under 1650-1700 & carbs below 120g or so). I lost about 40 lbs in 5 mths then began to stall. My sister sent me a few of your videos & trying IF & keto finally got the scale moving again! I must say I’m not strictly keto all the time, there are days when I go over my personal carb limit but I feel so much better! Baby steps right? Thanks again for all you do!

      I agree. I'm not only looking at carbs, which I have done for years, but also now the sugar. Eating out is the trickiest, since you can't tell exactly what you are getting, even if the restaurant publishes a nutrition chart on it's food.

      BlackOreoCookie you might consider evaluating your macro counts if you aren’t already doing that. Sometimes too much protein will stall you. I was surprised I was eating too much protein! I use Carb Manager app to help me keep track. Some folks don’t need to keep a handle on the numbers, but I need to do that for at least a little while. It’s helping me. Hope this is of help to you! Best of luck!

    I have been binging your videos. I just started the keto diet a week ago. I can't believe how good I feel. My skin is glistening. I can't believe it. I see all kinds of wonderful changes. I did try this a year ago. But I didn't quite get the part of lowering the protein and raising the fat. I was miserable. The whole food part also is the key. Eating products that aren't made by man. I did some online studying on and got the real scoop. I can't stand butter in my tea though. But I found these nuts called pili nuts. They have the same fat and no carbs for a half of serving. These things melt in your mouth. So I started with that. I have a suggestion on topic. Stress of life. I tend to head to the kitchen when I get stressed with life, work etc. Although I do catch myself and not go off keto living. I haven't started exercising yet. I am hoping that will help. Thanks, Dr.Ken you're wonderful. Thanks for the bacon mayo idea. Now I can throw that jar in the frig away.

    I had a heart attack last May at 59; and when I asked the doctor the one thing I needed to give up to recover, the answer was simple; sugar. I was never naturally drawn to carb foods. But after moving in with a woman, for a few years, being exposed to her high carb diet and philosophy that all the starches, chocolate and sweet fruits were good for me, boom! Heart attack. I have been off carbs and alcohol for maybe 6 months and went from mildly overweight with a beer gut, to 31 inch waist. I wasn't even trying! i'm slimmer now than I can ever remember being and eat as much as I want. How ironic all those years the food I thought was bad was good and vice versa.

    Dr. Berry-this is so timely. Just over the weekend, I cleaned out my refrigerator. I had bought orange marmalade to put on baked sweet potatoes, which I love. I thought I had been smart because there was no high fructose corn syrup in the marmalade, but of course, it has sugar. So that, plum sauce, and a lot of others hit the garbage. And no I'm not eating sweet potatoes for a long time. I had just decided yesterday that I was going to have to start making my own sauces and dressings again and you confirmed this. There is NO salad dressing I can find that does not have canola or soybean oil in it. Even when I get one of the healthiest spinach salads at a local restaurant, with blue cheese, I know I cannot escape it. Thanks for the reinforcement and encouragement.

Took some looking but found that the "big" names Mayo that say olive oil or avocado oil on the front of the label do not have it as the only oil on the back of the label. Which part of the label do I trust? We are allowing 2g or less of sugar per serving, but I have noticed somethings have sugar (or an alias of sugar) in the list of ingredients. I am assuming from watching all your awesome videos the answer is yes but I'm feeling very defeated and don't know where to begin...again. The first ingredient listed on the D3 and B12 was soybean oil. The MVI had maltodextin relatively high on the list. Do I need to be concerned? I am not always comfortable buying unknown brands , but could if I need to find some without these ingredients. Love what you are doing w this movement. Appreciative fan.
