Fools is basically a reboot of steptoe and son. They created 3 characters out of the two but kept the dynamic. The fool, the hard worker, the old one, the vet, good with women, bad with women, naive, confident etc etc.
Both families of just men who lost the matriarch when kids and miss her dearly. They struggle to earn a living dreaming of better things while fighting between themselves yet tied by blood. Actually some of the situations are direct lifts from steptoe episodes. Peckham was picked specifically to be opposite The Bush but same poor neighbourhoods.

True, but it's usually fast, after a revolution, a rebel leader or the country's original army leaders who then appoint one of them as "leader" with promises of it being temporary until calm is settled, then begins the summary executions of the ex leaders, their known associates and quite a lot of their family and friends, next any dissidents who know what's coming and try to protest are rounded up and sometimes show trialled then either executed or if they're unlucky imprisoned in a terrible hell hole. Then the intelligence officers of the blooming dictatorship monitor the peoples every word and movement neighbours are encouraged to spy on their neighbours even children led to spy on their parents, 3am arrests ( a time when the body and mind is at its lowest ebb and least resistance expected, people dragged from their beds charged with being an enemy of the state who are then brutally tortured usually for no other reason than being informed on out of spite, they often are killed or put in gulags to await kangaroo courts, and thus terror blossoms people begin looking constantly over their shoulders and every word they utter becomes filtered before utterance, now the dictator claims sadly that unrest is still rife so they must extend their time in power as they struggle valiantly to overcome the evil that would destroy their beloved country, posters and paintings of the leader appear in every quarter his benign countenance burned into the minds of the citizens meanwhile schools are set to teach the children from the earliest age upwards about how great and glorious their leader is and that's how its done, constant monitoring of the civilians, draconian punishments for the smallest of offences and brainwashing of the future generations to acceptance, while all the time executions and disappearances of presumed rebels to maintain fear of open dissention. We're a long way from that and the British public though normally grumpily accepting of rules and regulations will always kick back when really pissed off and those in power here know it, plus with our depleted army they couldn't control more than half of one major city if rebellion flared, so if the military are suddenly being recruited with aims to more than quadruple then watch out lol but no it will never happen here.

It's amazing how attached and how fondly you can become of characters on a TV program/sitcom, especially when it's the all time best situation comedy of all time, that good it deserves it twice, in my opinion, made us feel bloody good showing the struggles of the working class peoples trying to make a go of it, even though it was low level crime, selling things in a market somewhere somehow.

Ofah was one of the best ever. I don’t think I’ve ever met or heard anyone say they didn’t like it & that itself speaks volumes. Great writer , actors and we were very lucky back in the day compared to the shite on tv nowadays. I can’t wait for the Documentary

I realise that Nicholas lost his son recently. I'm truly sorry for you mate.
You and Del Boy made me laugh for years. Nicholas, I truly wish you and yours the very best. You truly did make this wee man a very happy bunny. I pray you can take at least a wee bit of hope in that... Oh, And B.T.W, I Loved "Goodnight Sweatheart" also.

When, with the auction of the lost watch, they finally became millionaires - it was the oddest thing - disbelief was suspended and we were genuinely glad for them, and shed the odd tear as well.
We grew older together, had cherished friends, lost members of our family too, had wonderful weddings, celebrated the birth of new members of the clan, lived very ordinary days - all of which are part of this mysterious and fantastic thing called LIFE. In Only Fools and Horses we saw a reflection of ourselves. A heartfelt thank you to all who made it possible. ❤️ 🙏

Sir David Jason, an absolutely amazing soul....our Robin Williams of the UK, he is a fantastic comedian loved by all. Only Fools and Horses traverses time and generations to remain one of if not the best comedy TV show ever created that is as good today as it was back then. Not forgetting Nicholas Lyndhurst of course, the duo forged memories and laughs that will last a life time.

These two and other actors and actresses who play wonderful great characters along side them deserve many accolades for the entertainment, laughter and drama they continue to give us. The talents of the writers, directors and the team behind the scenes bring this all together to make such amazing television for us to enjoy.
