      Just look through the videos, anything taking longer than 5 minutes for this guy is a good lock. The lobojack, the abus rock, kryptonite ks82, fahgettaboudit for bicycles, video number 471, 636 for entrance doors, the viro blocca catena is very impressive, and as always pointed out by Lock Picking Lawyer, other forms of forced entry are always just as important as the locks themselves. The guy uses kwikset for his front doors, and he is a locksport enthusiast! So secure your windows and door frames first.

    • @dbaider9467

      Any lock where you have to turn the key twice around to open it, or lock it, is good.

    • @DataumCats
      @DataumCats Před 5 lety +10

      @Roderick storey Yup. The main vulnerability for a bike lock or padlock isn't picking, it's bolt cutters and angle grinders. The main vulnerability for your house is largeish rock cause turns out rocks are really good at opening windows. The main vulnerability for your car is a small chip of ceramic on the end of a punch, cause tempered glass falls apart when you hit it with that.
      You might want to avoid locks that can easily be defeated by low skill attacks like raking, but otherwise it doesn't matter. You pretty much only do something like single pin picking of a lock because you care about not destroying what you're opening (And someone trying to break in does not care about your windows) or because it amuses you to do it.

Also, is the pick gun better/worse than others (or is it your first)? The locks you presented here could probably also be opened by a potato too and there are tons of videos like that where a person opens crappy locks with some electric pick gun. Could you tell us, where you think the limit of such pick guns is? Or some personal thoughts on that specific pick gun?

Also worried me that I started seeing a lot of brass dust from the pins after a couple minutes of trying. I’m sure these will eventually damage the lock. LPL, I’d like to see some examples of more tricky locks opened with this. Maybe I’m not using the correct technique.

      You're right. I have this Kronos and it only opens simple locks like the junk ones used in the video. This video is a commercial for this gun and Kronos has it posted and their website.

    Will it open a dimple lock? I was thinking since the key way is horizontal the blade on the kronos can be twisted 90 degrees there by working the same way as bringing the pins towards its shear line?
    Or may be it would work on dimple locks without manipulating the blade since it vibrates towards every direction?
    No experience in those but would like to get one as almost every establishment here in the GCC uses dimples.

    you should make a comparisont about these different battery operated pick guns.
    also has one icosted around 50bucks 3 years back its part drill and part pick lock with metal housing you can change.
    I reckon you also likely have that model as it is very common

    I know it must be something I'm doing wrong but I cant get this to work on Euros and Yale cylinders that I can pick and bump easily. I feel I am applying light tension and placing the needle horizontal and square, at the bottom of the pins. I've tried drawing in and out and pivoting a bit as shown in your video but am always disappointed and have not been able to build any faith in it at all. Please have you any advice? Cheers- I really enjoy watching your channel.

    I use a $44 Chinese knock off to great effect on about 65% of locks. Why pay $270 for Kronos? I had to initially make some adjustments to the Chinese, including LockTite on all screw threads. I like it so well, I am buying another one for the shop.
    Hey, I had a Schlage in my Naughty Bucket that I just couldn't SPP. A new Sparrows short hook (18K) came in. It opened lock. I looked to see the difference in the short hook that was failing. The Sparrows, even though it was the same height, it has a deeper elbow. It's amazing how small differences in hooks and mean the difference in SPP success or failure.
