I just bought a 2020 Trail Boss. Love the sound of that Borla Atak. New exhaust might be my 1st upgrade.
Did u upgrade to the Atak? I have a 2020 sierra and my Atak muffler will be installed in 2 days im so excited! If you updated yours to Atak is it loader in person?

This was useful. Wanting to just swap out muffler in my 2022. Looking for the best one to get with a good tone and not crazy drone. Just little aggressive when I get on it. Nothing to crazy. Thanks for the post
I run a 3 inch cat back, exhaust flapper valve delete, flowmaster super 40, single side exit. Sounds really good. Nice and deep and mellow. No Hwy drone either. Get a tuner as well, get rid of the v4 mode, lets the engine run so much better.

You should try the carven tr or r muffler. They both sound amazing. Deep throaty sound

I had a flowmaster 40 catback on my ram that sounded really good just got a 20 Silverado looking to just buy a muffler probably will go with the 40 but did like how the borla soundsd

Update: I removed the 40 series and went with the Super 44 single in dual out to 4" Quad tips. That Super 44 thou👌🏽
What was the model number for the Borla ATAK? I’d like to do a simple muffler swap, but they don’t seem to sell it specifically for my 21 Trail Boss.
Nice vid/test! Getting a splice (muffler delete) done on my 2020 6.2 TrailBoss next week. For the money ($80) you get the same sound IMO.

Bout to run duals with the super 10 on my 19 custom
Is the exhaust flapper necessary? I just got a super 10 and I saw the flapper on my original exhaust would it cause any problem with out it?
You need to cover up the mesh screens between the exhaust tips and Y-pipe. They're near the spare tire and they cancel out a LOT of each muffler's exhaust note. That's why all these mufflers sound so quiet.

@@FMSPerformance how much of a difference did it make? I really like the super 10. I had the 40 series on my 18 which was decent but I want a little louder. Just dont want it too loud as I have the kids in the backseat ( and dont want to piss the neighbors off)

I have an RST Z71 with the duals. What would you recommend to make my truck not sound like such a wimp, but still keep me in good standing with the neighbors? lol I’m not looking for attention seeking noise, just to give it a couple more decibels and a performance sound.

I have a 18 silverado and have resonator out and put a super 10 where the muffler is 10/10 reccomend. Its loud on cold starts but what isnt
Im in the same exact boat with the same exact question but I was thinking the flowmaster 40 series. I really liked the way it sounded but don't want to be that neighbor. Do you think it would be fine?
It's a good idea to have a back ground idle of a vehicle while making an exhaust video.

I've had the straight pipe for about 6 months now on 2019 Sierra 5.3. Love the aggressive sound but have found out that when cruising to stop or down hill under 10mph it has a horrendous loud popping sound. I'm also getting tired of the drone inside at highway speeds. Watched this video to see which muffler to go with now. The atak sounds just like the straight pipe and hopefully eliminates that popping crackling but is it worth the extra cash?

Where’d you get the LTZ/High Country tail lights on the LT version of the truck? I can’t find them anywhere.
The tail lights came on the truck from the factory
The Custom, Custom Trail Boss, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ and High Country all come with LED tail lights

So a 3" in and out is needed? How long of a ss pipe would I need if I went with the super 10?
Sorry, can't recall the length of additional pipe needed. I would get a foot and adjust as needed.
So very helpful. I love flowmaster but the straight pipe sounded the best. Can 2 mufflers and 2 pipes fit underneath these new trucks? I had a 92 GMC SLE 2WD Short wheel base with two 40 series Flowmasters with true duel exhaust and 2.5 inch chrome tips out the back.

Awesome video, the first flowmaster 40 series sounded best in my opinion. The borla sounds more like an import exhaust. Everybody has different tastes though.

Stupid question I’m sure everyone asks.. hard to tell from the video, but what would u recommend for a nice clean throaty sound, but not one that will make the neighbors hate me or hate myself when I’m driving down the freeway at 70mph?

Does the resonator need to be deleted to get optimal results in sound. I think the Borla Attack gets my vote, awesome video guys.
Thank you. We did not test with the resonators deleted. You can test that by simply covering the resonators with a band clamp and if you don't like the tone just take them off.
What all was removed in these videos? Did you leave the resonators, and the flap? Or is this just straight pipe and the muffler's?

Are there any cons to getting just a borla atak muffler and not the whole kit with pipes and all?

Just replacing the muffler with a Borla Atak requires welding or band clamps and sounds completely different from replacing the entire kit.

I been seriously leaning towards neighborhater exhaust with dual x pipes but yet to see a video or here exact truck with the mod . Everything else I've heard them on sound tough and mean . But good video never the less

I have a 2020 LT Trailboss with the 6.2 and I want to make it sound better. I heard the active fuel management makes these mufflers sound like a ricer buzzing when it kicks down to 4 cylinders going down the freeway. Can anyone elaborate on their experiences?
I haven't heard this yet and we have done 4-5 systems on this truck with the 6.2. Stay tuned and subscribe because we are building a video now with the 6.2 just like the one we did for the 5.3 Thank you

There is no need for CARB approval for a muffler change. You do need a CARB number for headers, intake, tuner, and catalytic converters.

My question is, what will sound best on a stage 2 cam, long tube headers off a y-pipe?
What sound level (aggressive, super aggressive. low bass tone, quiet) and are you going to install the cat converters? True dual exhaust?
FMS Performance no cats, not true duals, I want an aggressive sound, but not as loud as it is straight pipes. The cold start is to obnoxious the way it is.
So do I just buy the Borla Atak exhaust or do I need to buy anything else to make it sound this good?

My 40 series is enough. I wish it had a little more down throttle aggression but it sounds mean at idling speeds and roars full throttle.. I still have the resonator tho...🤔

Last question, why are some you used 2 1/2” in/out and some 3” in/out? I’m trying to decide which route to go(so many options) and does it really make much of a difference?
@@jamesardisana3326 Yes, we removed the exhaust valve in all muffler sound clips for this truck. We used the parts that were available to us for this challenge. For the three inch mufflers we slipped the 3 inch adapter pipe inside the mufflers inlet & outlet, and for the 2 1/2 inch we slipped the 3 inch adapter pipe over the muffler inlet & outlet. The factory pipe size is between 2 1/2 & 3 inch so it works either way. Thank you

This was just a muffler change, no piping. All piping remained stock. We did not measure the stock piping but we believe it to be 2.78" center pipe and 2.38" tail pipes. We sealed the connections before the sound test was taken each time.

This is a universal Borla Atak muffler that requires adapter piping and can be clamped but welding is recommended.

I contacted Borla they said they don't have a ATAK for the 19-21 5.3L yet here it is... How do I get this lol is it technically for the 6.2L?
Thanks for contacting. This is a custom exhaust using many different universal mufflers by the manufacturers. We did not change the piping just the muffler and eliminate the flap valves.
