    you could try a brand called "tiger concepts" for rolex homage builds or parts. quality is a notch better than the cheaper aliX stuff.

    this is fairly painful to see being done like this…. I think clumsy would be a kind word to use

      Hi Stathap - yes Sir, you are correct. There is no 'benchmark' in this video - just a record of my trying to fix a problem.

    I bought the same case off eBay over a year ago made to fit the nh36 movement and mine didn’t have any Rolex markings on it. The quality is outstanding too. I made a homage to the 5513 bond watch.

      @watchmebuildit  Před 2 lety

      I agree! The cases made for the NH movements are definitely superior. Their bezels are also much more stable. I bought a couple and build some awesome Milsubs with them. Thanks for the encouragement

    Very cool build on an old school watch homage

    Great video.
    I can understand your disappointment on the cheap movement holder ring, I've faced the same problem.
    I'd be interested to learn how this can be improved. So I'll be watching out for your future video. Cheers.

      Hello Mr. Kwan. It may be worthwhile buying an alternative movement with the retainer ring. However my overall experience is that this is a cheap watch end to end and not worth the investment. An alternative would be to buy a watch from Tiger Concepts

    Hi. Great mod. I find that the "vintage Rolex look of the 1950s and early 1960s is quite under appreciated. Many might be surprised at just how many incredible designs that period of time gave us (Submarinet, Fifty Fathoms, etc.). And your magnificent vintage Miltary Submariner does a great job of bringing it to life with modern msterials. Any chance you can give the link for the donner watch...?

      Hi Mr. BMT216A - if you are big on the vintage look I would highly recommend you pay a visit to ‘tiger concepts’ - an independent website selling ex-China. You can go all in on many mid-century designs for around US$ 170

    Thank you for sharing! Just a shame about the "recess" on the dial near the pivot of the hands.

      Thank you Fabrizio. Fortunately the hands cover the recess on the face. This is not a great quality watch though

    On AliExpress they do a very similar sterile homage with the nh35 movement, it comes complete with vintage bracelet. It was £90 delivered to UK. I've ordered one, and hoping it doesn't come with the fake case markings.

    Brother, could you do a tutorial how to make the second hand hole size smaller ?? Is that we do that using rodico or the twezzer to make it smaller? Many thanks

    • @watchmebuildit
      @watchmebuildit  Před 4 lety

      HI Michael. Yes - the Rodico inside and then a firm pinch with the tweezers was the method. Im afraid it doesnt hold very well though - better to buy the correct size from the start. If you want a great selection of Sub-style hands to fit Miyota 8215 and DG2813 and ST1612s head on over to Tiger Concepts:

    Hi amd good day. Thank you for this video. It's very instructive. May I ask if the sellita sw200 will work as a substitute movement for the watch hands, case, and dial you used? Thanks!

    • @watchmebuildit
      @watchmebuildit  Před 3 lety

      Hi Mark. I am not certain. I tested the NH35 and it is too thick for this case. I will be looking into the Selita SW200/PT5000/St2160 movement to see. There has been much interest in whether a better movement will work

    • @watchmebuildit
      @watchmebuildit  Před 3 lety

      Hi Mark. I have an ST2160 movement on the way and I will be able to test it with this case. By all accounts it’s seems that the ST2160 (Sellita SW200) is compatible with the ST1612 in width and height. However, their handsets are different

    I'm of the opinion that the parts for the homages and the fakes are manufactured in the same factories. I bought a steel bagelsport day date homage off of ebay which has the etched crown on the crystal.

      Mmmmm - Rich, now you are touching a nerve for us all aren’t you? What would you say then? Shall we rather stick with branded goods like Loreo or Pagani? Or is it possible that they too drink from the same fountain?

    • @richwebb6424
      @richwebb6424 Před 4 lety +1

      @@watchmebuildit You couldn't really be sure without visiting the factories personally, but i would guess they all start out sterile and branding is done to order. There is a CZcamsr who has a series on starting you own watch brand in China, Nav San i think it is. Regardless, I love my homage watches and it won't put me off purchasing more.

      Jesus Christ your IQ exceeds 500 for using the tack on the movement pusher for the second hand rather than struggling with the bloody tweezers! I’ve never thought to do this.

    That hand changing was hard to watch! It shows the distinction between simple and easy. It sounds simple, but it was not easy. Great job. I was nervous the whole time. Your build video are really full of dramatic tension. Great work!

    • @watchmebuildit
      @watchmebuildit  Před 4 lety +2

      Hahahaha Paul - you are HILARIOUS. Dramatic tension is about the most generous and eloquent way of dressing the truth - I am simply bumbling along; trying to figure it out. Hands are particularly difficult. If you watch Eric of Lume Shot or Darak of Darak Watches you will see young men with the hands of surgeons. Mine are more like the hands of a plumber 😂. Thanks again for taking the time
