Windsurfing at sea can be DANGEROUS!!
In this video I'll follow storm chaser Edwin on one of his regular sessions at the Northsea in the Netherlands to find out what drives people like him.
He travels for hours to do a windsurfing session while he could have done a session on his local lake just a few minutes from where he lives ...
This time we're heading for "Wijk aan zee".
I know I would normally just go to my homespot (a small local lake) in these conditions, if Edwin hadden't convinced me to come along on one of his (light wind) sessions I would have done so.
Those storm chasers just drop everything else and only focus on making that one window in which the wind and waves are forecasted to be the best.
What's so magical about those sessions at sea with high waves and strong winds?
We're gonna find out in this video.

LOL ...guilty as charged!
I must say it was pretty exciting for me to be surfing in the waves in 40 kts after decades so I was sailing very defensive, but I must say.....
I love it!!
And judging by the average reactions it might just be ...to be continued!
Next time will be more relaxed.

Het was wel spannend natuurlijk weer na zo'n lange tijd, maar zeker ook wel weer super leuk.
Als ik de reacties een beetje inschat vinden de meeste van jullie surfen op zee ook wel leuk en kan er zo maar eens een vervolg op kunnen komen.

Almere?! I'm flying to Holland on Thursday and will stay first night in Almere. Will visit on Friday the Vandenberg shop! Nice.
That's right, you can also find them in Almere. near Marina Muiderzand which means it's right next to a few good windsurf/foil/wing spots.
Most people only know the shop in Hoorn but there are 2 more in the Netherlands.
If you go on friday I must warn you as VanDenBergSurf.nl has a summer sale at this moment and you might just end up buying too much ........

Awesome video you made there coach! We can still do a bit of tweaking. 🤓A smaller 21cm fin instead of 23cm what u had on ur singfin board combined with a 3.3m2. And ofcourse we have to get rid of the slalom/underhand boomgrip during wavesailing. 😅
Next time ill take my gopro max also onboard and stay close to you, filming part 2 Of the stormchase trilogy 🌊👊🏼🌪️🌪️😄. Put in there some tabletops and pushloops. Fun starts at 50knots. Cant wait to use my 3.3 or my new 2.9m2 😜
