After three years of waiting, the Red Bull Storm Chase 2019 hit Ireland. With building-high waves and gusts of wind reaching over 115km/h, only the best are windsurfers are nominated to participate in the "Red Bull Storm Chase". During a 36-month holding-period, ten of the world's best windsurfers waited patiently to catch three of the biggest storms on oceans around the globe to determine who was the very best.

I was there that day - I live a few miles away and was taking my elderly mother out for a run in the car when we came across it - we were both amazed at the surfers and also the helicopter pilot who was able to control it in that weather - it was spectacular....!
I'll just hold on to my beer on this one.

id love to see what happens post wipe-out. i mean how do you even retrieve the gear let alone waterstart. the cold water alone is enough to make you scared and really tired.
You swim like your life depends on it. For conditions like this, there is often a jet ski that can help!

Red Bull does give some windsurfers wings.
I wish they showed some longer clips instead of just 1 second before they go airborne and then cut to another clip immediately when they land.
That's because windsurfers never land that kind of jump. They just drop from the sky trying not to break their gear or themselves.

Sick, I watched the RB Storm chase work on Norderney a few years ago (heli and jetski) , awesome spirit and courage, that´s the stuff mankind is made of. Thanks a lot for this inspiring vid. I´m a Kitesurfer but isn ´t it all about the same?...Keep making this kind of movies, guys I love it.

it was my sek home ,venezuela , i know ricardo and his mother .. he was going from freestyle to wave riding ..and now , 20 - 30 year later ,i see him ... on this video .wow .. nice.. amazing

Windsurfing is amazing. I have been sailing every season from 1988 to 2023. Granted, I don't have waves like these, but it's still amazing!
