Mate your channel is a joke honestly your changing the CZcams scene in a awesome way I love the approach. Full respect. I feel like I donât want to upload recently due to my content being the same as everyone elseâs. I need to find my own path that I enjoy. I feel like youâve done that perfectly
Yes I have stopped watching the main stream electrical CZcamsrs,no disrespect but your right there all the same
@@joe2395 I get it mate mate i do
@@jimbotheelectrician3819 look forward to your next vlog just come up with something different and not a game of hide and seek like Bundy's pathetic effort
Thatâs really kind to say mate. Find what makes you unique and incorporate what you enjoy ( exercise and running, family? ) and find a way to make your videos beneficial, and youâll smash it mate. Youâve already got the platform! We will work together soon asap! Looks like some wicked work youâre turning out
@@corymac appreciate that bud. Yes 100%. Keep it up!
Cory you have nailed it if CZcams Electricians in the UK are to survive (there are only so many board changes you can watch) then they seriously need to change the type of content they are putting out it will be interesting to see what the Norwegian Electrician makes of UK working practices
Thanks mate! Iâm trying my best đ
Being from the U.S. it's awesome seeing how other places do electrical. Also Chicago requires by code steel conduit in homes.
Love what you're doing Cory. Really interesting approach. Something different. Well done mate.
Thanks Richard!
tip. drill a small pilot hole when your drilling concrete with a less powerfull drill then you drill the bigger hole on one side half way through then meet it in the middle on the other side no blow out evey time
My grandad shared a similar tip 45 years ago. Brilliant đ
it's the way I've always have done it and it naver fails , little more work but a great result is work the effort
Thanks for the tip!
What a great video! I'm not an electrician but I'm enjoying following your journey. Really interesting video- love the editing and some of those shots you managed to get in such a beautiful country!
Great film Cory, still the best, streets ahead of all the rest.
Well done, I look forward to the next episode, brilliant, regards, Chris. đđđ
Nice video. The pre wired flexible conduit whe often use in the Netherlands is called Preflex, and is made by a Belgium company. If you prepare it well enough, not a single cable or wire needs to be pulled. Even switch wires, data, thermostat wires, doorbell, or cable tv, all in pre wired conduit
Thatâs cool!!
Yeah.. But being a dutch sparky myself.. I wont use that shit unless i have to. The only reason it excists is cutting cost. If something goes wrong with that stuff u are screwed. Normal conduit with loose wires is SO much better to work with.
Awesome new upload! Look forward to the next episodes. Very interesting watching your progression and learning various techniques! Loved the comment on grabbing hold of Dover with boats!! đ€Ł
Keep up the great work Cory!
Thanks Matthew!
Love the videos cory! Such a great personality and outlook on life for such a young man! Keep up the the great content!
Thanks Jamie! Really appreciated đ
That looks absolutely fantastic over there. Thank you for sharing mate. đ
Thanks so much đ
Absolutely brilliant video Cory, great to see how other countries do thingsâŠ..looks an amazing place aswellâŠ.canât wait for the next video
Thanks James đ€đđŒ
In Denmark everything is 3 phase as well, but in older buildings it's common for the mainboard to only be wired for 2 phase - which used to be the standard supply up until the mid-1960s or so. Even though the supply up to the meter has been upgraded to 3 phase everywhere, the 3rd phase will not be wired into the board unless everything after the board is rewired for it.
What a nice change Cory. You're a good lad and clearly a very talented electrician. Really enjoyed visiting Norway with you.đđ
Thanks mate
Loving this style of content, so incredibly interesting and yes, Iâd love to buy your merch, the Scandinavian shirt looks great
Thanks! Coming soon đđ€
I think what you are doing is great and I hope that you continue this. Really enjoyed this video and didn't lose interest at any part. Excited to see what you have coming up next!
Thanks Richie! Really appreciate it. I will try my best, itâs not sustainable for every vid to be as all out ( itâs expensive and a lot of work, especially for an amateur like me đ ) - but Iâm trying my best to make them as engaging and real as I can đ
Quality video, from a fellow adventurer and soon to be spark in the UK, this content is great!

I love this type of videos! I hope you can make more where you visit electricians in other countries and see what's different etc. Very interesting video!
I plan to! But itâll be every few episodes, I have big plans booked in, but theyâre expensive and take a lot of time đ. Once the channel grows itâll be far easier!!!

I look forward to your videos each episode, wish I had as much energy as you do! Love that they use nice distros and conduit, just makes sense to me.
If I was 14 years younger you'd have inspired me to be an electrician, for now though i'll stick to continuing my electrical and electronic eng degree. When you get your merch on the go count me in for a tshirt at least, definitely.

Hi Cory,
This video had it all .Scenery, Wildlife, food ,beer, even Gretta for God sake. Its great that you are highlighting how things are done in other countries and the different requirements ,regulations and skill levels. it seems that that code reforcement is lax while litigation when damage is caused is the only determiner of who does quality installation and who wants to make a fast buck. Great questions asked and answered . Adrian thanks for the imput.
If the tug boats had pulled from Dover do you think Scotland would have smashed into Norway as they pulled the island out into the Bay of Biscay. ? Just asking. Cory your a Classic. "I buy Shampoo and all my Groceries at the Amazon"!!!

Love the metal capping they use.
I was trained in the UK has a JIB ELECTRICIAN I would use SWA instead of the cable there use in Norway. I moved to CANADA in 1983 and completed another apprenticeship and became a Journeyman Red Seal Construction Electrician we would use Teck cable or use EMT conduit and run single wires in conduit
Me too!

Nice video, Corey. Here in Holland they put what you call the consumerunit always near bij the frontdoor because when theres a fire they can shut off the system when they (firemen) enter a house. Its not allowed to put it under a cupboard or put it in a place where you can't find it. its all regulated. and also the educationsystem for electricians. Again, like the videos. For me a new approach of video making on YT. Like it very much.
For the record, thatâs true of new builds (post 1970 or so) but as you get further back in time the regulations get less stringent, and of course the units arenât updated since then. Or at least not the location etc.
We pull the plug from the out side, they cut the house from the power network, but usually we have them by the door too
Thatâs great! Weâre a bit behind here in the uk haha!
It's almost same here in Finland. That consumer unit is maybe made in Finland, at least looks like ABB breakers. Also notice mixed Eaton/ABB/Hager devices in the consumer unit
Fun fact, ABB also manufacture in the UK. Theyâre really good quality parts, but you donât see many outside of commercial applications here.
@@dreisday we have a few major consumer and meter cabinet manufacturers, ABB, Schneider Electric, UTU Oy (Finnish manufacturer using Hager parts), POK, Norelco and some other smaller ones
Thatâs cool! I need to see Finland đ«đź

In Hungary we have conduit in walls for decades. In the old days they used aluminium wires which are still in a pain to work with. We doing few new builts here and most of the conduit are running in the floor under the underfloor heating pipes. I worked in the UK and the BS7671 is not that bad as most people think compering with our standerd. Add Hungary to your travel list and I can show you some interesting stuff in heređ
Keep up the good work with this channel its gonna be the best electritian show on YT.
Thatâs so cool! Iâd love to come see it. Thanks Laszlo
You should try some kayaking in Norway. Amazing rivers. Amazing coast line.
Done it, itâs beautiful đ€©
Hi Cory,
Norway uses the IT earthing system - the consumers appliances are connected to an earth rod ala TT but there is no utility provider connection to earth - there is essentially no fault loop to test - RCDs are used for protection instead almost entirely - the concept of using a low resistance path to clear a ground fault by allowing the case to short to ground just isn't in their book. In ways this is a safer system as the earth is not used as a conductor anywhere, which can in some cases cause people to get hurt - the only reason we used an earthing system with a bond to neutral (TNCS) to clear faults is because overcurrent devices were cheaper than RCDs and it meant the provider didn't have to run a dedicated ground either to do so.
But to be honest, the TT and IT systems are probably better now with the advent of universal RCD. TT combined with universal RCD use would probably be the safest, as the RCDs would limit the shock hazard of using the earth as a conductor anyway.
The only drawback to Norway's system is that a ground fault is nigh on impossible to find!
I tired being a sparky in the UK but I couldnât become net positive as I always use conduit and I donât do rings!! I went back to IT weâre I can actually make money without taking shortcuts.
Cory is the man, may the channel continue to grow stronger and stronger. Much better then that fake artisan showman sh*t. keep it up bro
This is on a completely different level!
Thanks Loyd!!! More to come đđđŒ
Congratulations on such a professional video, onwards âïžđźđȘâïž
Thanks William!
just about the rewire with conduit thing, had my house rewired recently (i did all the hard work and sparky spark came and fitted some wires) and on some chases i made the slots big enough to drop some of that 25mm conduit into so that i could drop the wires down as well as no need to cap the chase afterwards
not that much more difficult if you have a decent chaser and dust extraction (guess who didn't, well i did but even that tiniest bit of error means the house gets covered in dust) and the only place where i had an issue was where i needed to run 7 cables, so i just set it to widest and deepest and cracked on
Thatâs cool!
Great video with your sense of humour I reckon you would be a pretty good stand up comedian based on your electrical adventures.
Haha, thanks Eric!
Mate pop in to Poland đ”đ± and see Advanced home systems,We had over voltage protection (Uk Spd )since 2000 or earlier, rcds also quite long time. Our cables got all ready sleeve on the earth, similar to flex in uk. Nice video đđ€đ» take care đ„

You are a top man Cory ! My new best You Tube channel. Hopefully You will try Polish electrics one day !
I plan to mate! I have a polish electrician friendâŠPolish electrics Iâve come across have been nice quality, and also using conduit!! I look forwards to it.
In Northern Ireland we bury conduit in the wall all the time in houses usually 20 or 25mm

Loving the series so far mate, one day you'll have to come see how the Aussies do it ;)
Iâd love to!!
@@corymac Cory would be disgusted to see behind the cover of the average load centre here even those in new builds in Australia. Haha, so true!!!
this type of content is ace!
Glad you like it mate! More to come
In concur, like it
Love the concept of zappii being able to monitor the current draw of itself along with the mains and adjust. In the states and Canada we have to have a minium of 200 Amp service for one charger. (Most homes have like 240 100amps) or 400amp or more for 2. You can imagine having 50 to 70 amps of power for an e/v charger with only a 100 amps wld be. I sent out an inquiry to zappii to see if they make a n. American version never heard back I wld imagine it wld be hard as it wld have to measure both sides of the transformer legs as we run a neutral at the center for 2 120v opposit phase but can combine them for 240 volts so yes technically usa Canada is 240volts +(avg phase in my area of new england runs 125volts + or - ) so it's more like 240 to 260v - but 60 hertz as opposed to 50hertz.
There is no national regulation or certification in the USA either the national government makes a new set of basic standards every 3 yrs called the national electric code but it's up to the states and even local government to adopt or make their own actual enforcable codes and bylaws plus they are responsable for permits and inspections. Trust me for the land of the free the government has a lot of control lol
Measuring split phase power isn't hard. You can run both legs through the same current transformer (but in opposite directions) to get the total current. And if they already have a version compatible with three-phase service the hardware should be perfectly fine for use on our 120/240.
Itâs great isnât it!
I done a short course and i would say it's definitely rushed and very intensive, you still have exams to pass it's not a walk in the park and there's a insane amount to learn in such short time. Experience is was more important than qualifications.
Interesting đ€. Thanks for the comment mate
I was interested to see what items of test equipment were used in Norway. It was quite surprising to see a young guy like Adrian using an analogue tester rather than a digital model. The Kyoritsu 3132A that he has was sold in the UK as a Robin K3105. Robin branded testers had rather less 'busy' (plainer) front panels than their Kyoritsu equivalent models and most were yellow (although not the K3105). Robin/Kyoritsu also made a version of the SA9083 generic test meter for the telecoms industry (aka ballistic testing) that looks very similar to the K3105. When Fluke bought Robin they discontinued all the rebranded Kyoritsu testers so Kyoritsu created the Kewtech (Kyoritsu Electric Works) brand for the UK market.
I haven't seen anyone use an analogue tester for ages (I'm in Austria). Fluke is quite popular here, as is Chauvin Arnoux for multifunction testers. Gossen Metrawatt of Germany also has quite a following. Then there's of course Metrel and Benning (famous for their Duspol voltage testers), although Benning MFTs are just rebranded Metrels. Back in the old days there were also Goerz and Norma. I once had a Siemens MFT from the 90s, decent bit of kit but the RCD function was a bit spartan, only did trip time at 1x current if I remember correctly and the regs require a ramp test so it wasn't much use.
Thatâs cool to know!
great vid Corey, what we need in UK is a consumer unit like that with say 50 ways so we can have more 4mm 20A radials and no rings,
Why 4mm? You can have a 20A radial on 2.5mm. 4mm is a pain when you need 3 conductors in an accessory.
@@havoctrousers length of run through insulation and not 3 cables in 1 accessorie, lots of small radials
More circuits also needed in Norway for electric heating of course. No fuse in plugs, so many smaller 16A radials for sockets is common.
Thanks William! I agree, Iâve started implementing it⊠coming soon!
