    Been watching your videos for years now. I even remember when you hung up the let's playing for a while and felt really sad about it. I'm glad you pop in every once and a while and do these because you have an incredible talent for narrating the experience. Just wanted to voice my appreciation. Thanks for everything.

    I'm honestly going to start using "Doff" now for my everyday life. Thanks Cyan for expanding my vocabulary! 😁

    Mentor in St. Andrews: There used to be lots of animals here. Not anymore. :(
    Mentor in Juleston: So you're going to need to pump all those gallons of battery acid into the sea.

    Embrace the Embrace!
    I had to slow down and thoroughly search the factory from where I had entered it to find everything needed. Getting the power going was the most frustrating part, and had to go back and forth at the acid vat to finally get everything set to enable getting rid of the blocked door. The rest required thinking it through.

    You should be able to don the sulphur suit, hop in the teleporter and walk through the crystal clear bridge water.

    On my first playthrough, I forgot about the conveyance pod in the factory and thought I was truly stuck. Took me a while of walking around to see it and go "duh".

    Having more than 2 saves has been standard practice for me ever since Final Fantasy 7 in the late 90s. It's surprising Cyan only allowed 2 saves... I don't think I've seen that before in a game!

    Pure sulfur does not react with water though. In order to actually make sulfuric acid, you have to react the water with sulfur trioxide, which itself is made by burning sulfur.

    • @micahbush5397
      @micahbush5397 Před 9 měsíci +1

      Yeah, and sulfur trioxide is so reactive, it will draw water vapor out of the air to form sulfuric acid fumes, so even if the processing machine is a furnace as well as a crusher, you would definitely not want to be anywhere near the mixer without the bulwark suit.

      @@krissatiel the mixing vat should have been elevated and the hatch in the floor instead, that would have made sense.

    While I deeply admire the game for its architecture and fantastical larger than life visual scapes... I am not a fan of Cyan's tendency to make games that revolve around only ONE gameplay mechanic. In this case the plug or whatever it was called. While the puzzles themselves can be tricky, all you have to do is wander through these big impressive spaces and look for the next plug to interact with. There are no pulling levers, switch puzzles, wire redirection, marble puzzles etc, which in my opinion makes the game a one-trick pony, and really makes these impressive worlds go to waste.

  • @Mythraen
    @Mythraen Před 9 měsíci

    Well, there goes my speculation on why they both broke at the same time (saving and junction). Now I haven't the slightest clue why you couldn't save. I kinda guess the reason you can't move the junction is because you tried to move it with the "cart" on it, although that's only half an explanation.

    Bummer that the game seems a bit buggy. Also, the connector shooting out of your arm kind of seems like an unnecessary gimmick to me. It could _definitely_ have been handled in other ways...you're essentially just interacting with an object's menu and we've been doing that in video games for...I dunno...30+ years? Maybe longer. It's not really *adding* anything, is it?

      This game is pretty 'meh' to me, I watched a lets play by someone else when it came out and haven't had any drive to play it myself. It totally lacks the believability of riven, and has a lot of plot holes I don't want to go in to in case you haven't seen the ending.

    • @perkinscurry8665

      The folks at Cyan seem totally taken by VR and designed this game to optimize for that. In the remake of Myst they had to make a lot of changes to controls so it would work easily with VR. I think the adjunct in Firmament was a simple solution to the VR control problem they dealt with in Myst. Unfortunately, it makes for a lot less interesting game since you only have one way of interacting with the environment.
      I was never able to get very far in any realm of Firmament when I tried the game due to some really off the wall bugs that made it impossible to continue. Now that I see what was in store for me, I'm now glad that the bugs stopped me -- this game is very tedious; It totally lacks the immersion that Obduction had. Firmament is really sterile.

    You should not be able to change the switch of any rail track, while a cart is standing on it - technically speaking. This doesn't work in reality, why should it work here? Ok, it's just a game, so it could be a thing, sure. A stupid thing, but anyway.
