Love the way you narrate these games. All the nuances of the dialog and exploring all parts of the landscapes. I feel like I miss so much when I watch other video walkthru's
Agreed. The general rule of thumb is that you need one full acre to provide enough food for two people for a year. *Triple* that if you plan to use renewable farming techniques to avoid depleting the soil and having to use artificial fertilizer. (So a community of 50 would need 25 acres, or 75 if using renewable techniques.) Of course, if the growing conditions are consistent all year round, you might be able to get away with a smaller garden because you can get multiple harvests per year.
Judging by what we learn later, the town is supposed to be home to a population of 70-80, so there aren't really enough buildings to house the people who are supposed to live here either. The most likely explanation is that the whole cell has been scaled down to reduce walking time and generally make the game more playable.
In the last minute or so when you were commenting on how you liked that the game indicates that the civilians re-purposed certain materials and objects that existed for them to use, I can't help but be reminded, and also assumed you were indirectly making a comparison of this place to Spire. Which you talked a great length, and rightly so, about how pretty much none of what you saw made a lick of sense. It's like night and day.
Yep, it's one of the things I love about this game. There's a ton of attention to detail, some of which you can't even see without noclip cheats, to make the world believable. The nice thing here is that the premise actually facilitates an easy way to justify anything the writers need to be there. I won't go into detail to avoid spoilers. :)
Hey Sven, thanks for uploading the episodes so quickly! :) Will you ever be doing the really old Cyan classics such as "The Manhole", "Cosmic Osmo" or "Spelunx"?
Once again, we're left with few people to talk to and early on lacking any idea if they're trustworthy people or not. Oh well, we're nothing if not a neighborly stranger.
I was pretty disappointed in this game when I watched another 'let's play' shortly after launch. Now I'm not sure if I like puzzle games, or just your narration. I loved Myst and Riven as a kid, but haven't revisited the genre since.
So turning off the reward items in the settings will just turn off the text box indicating them? I'd assumed that it will not show the actual items in the game when it's off, so I didn't bother turning it off on my play-throughs. Also, I didn't know about copying save files until you mentioned it here (definitely well-hidden!). 😁
I've just went into the game and checked one of my play-throughs and sure enough only the rewards item tooltip is off when it's turn it off in settings, but the items are still shown. Also the fire engine toy is not one of the reward items and I went through the Part 1 video again and the truck is there, just hard to notice since he doesn't have the hint glint on.
The UI in this game is in a word: terrible. For a game that is really simple in terms of game play, I don't know how they screwed it up so badly. It's just another thing that gave the game the appearance of being rushed out, which considering they already delayed the release by a month is pretty ordinary. This game is great in places, but the endgame and (especially) the UI and lack of contrast in the graphics let it down bigtime IMHO
Ever played Myst 1 while knowing all the puzzles? The first game was waaay shorter than Obduction. But i agree: I could have been longer. Hunrath was great, but the other places aren't that detailed and filled with content.
Budget restrictions, I expect. One of their stretch goals was to have an additional location with puzzles etc. but unfortunately they didn't get that one.

I don't know how many people lived there, but I'm not convinced that garden is sufficient for any number greater than 1.
you would need a much bigger area.
Agreed! Plus have you noticed that the food garden has shrivelled and died but Farley's flower garden is surviving fine without water!

Noclip, eh? Maybe at the end you can show us?
The lasers would be the first thing to draw my attention. When You avoided them on purpose, I got even more curious.
Alternative title: In which C.W. is really vague. ;-)
At least Atrus had the decency to give us a journal explaining things. Here, we get nothing. :)
lol

Fellow Myst lover, You are loved! And great thanks for this wonderful walkthrough!
The music that start about 22:39 Reminds me of the music in "Dear Esther."
00:12
We also know that the mayor speaks D'ni!
Yeah, IRL I wouldn't accept non-answers from CW at this point. I would pound on his door until he told me what the heck was going on.
Man Obduction was an incredible game. especially in VR.
Hunrath reminds me of Bodie, a ghost town near where I live.
I can see that....
YES! live action. Stoked
sharks! lazers! sharks with LAZERS!
Once again, we're left with few people to talk to and early on lacking any idea if they're trustworthy people or not. Oh well, we're nothing if not a neighborly stranger.
We found another person faster than I thought we would. And even then I didn't expect there to be a window so we could see each other.
Too bad we still can't ask him questions. C.W. is *very* bad at volunteering information. :)
I enjoyed watching you play this.
Man these are some STUNNING graphics.. wow..!
Lol the Austin Powers reference at 22:30
Welcome back
This town is like the Fermi Paradox. "Where is everybody?"
And then about 23:20 the Hammering sounds like sounds in the D'ni city Aegura

Gosh this game is gorgeous. :)
26:20 ish, "Which colour pages he wants?" :P
it's a weirwood tree from game of thrones :)
14:08 I want to make one of these that's shaped like a Wahrk.
autosave kinda sucks. it would be great if we can push f1 button or f2 and save the game manually
Autosave doesn't suck by itself. It sucks when that's the only way to save.
it sucks anyway

I noticed the toy truck was missing, close to Farley's... So it seems you're right, it didn't only turn off the messages, but the objects themselves.

Ah, ok. Didn't realize it was that hard to spot.
32:10 Hint: What is a 3D circle?
Infinitesimal.
COOOOOL
So did u already finish this game on your own?
I'm sure he did. He probably played through it a few times before he filmed this, just like with normal LP's :)
Yes, of course. I don't do blind Let's Plays.

it's kinda short game, myst series was more longer games
