  • We get a lot of questions about how to properly sit in a simulator. So in this episode of Enzo Explains we show you a few things about an optimal seating position.
As an extra bonus: a link where Lewis Hamilton explains some things about how he sits in his 2016 F1 car.

got used to wear gloves to not damage Alcantara. End up that I can't drive anymore without them... feels strange. I use mountain bike gloves which are light, have good ventilation and are sued on the hand palm side. In the winter I can use my race car Sparco gloves :) :)

Just come across this video and it really helped me make a couple of final tweaks to my setup, thanks.

I use gloves to keep a nice lose grip while maintaining control and to protect the Alcantara on the wheel.

I actually use thin weightlifting gloves. It protects the wheel, but still allows me to use my fingertips for buttons.

Same here. Found some nice ones without padding on the inside.

I use simple workers rubberized gloves which I tend to change once in a couple weeks or after a long race (nothing better than starting a new race in a fresh pair of gloves). Bare hands driving gets uncomfortable for me after a while.

interesting, I use karting gloves and the first laps/practice sessions are always a bit uncomfortable (sometimes even a bit of blisters at the hand) since they need to adapt to your hand the first 1-2 sessions... but when they then adapt the fit of my hands.. they become very very comfortable.. like they completly blended with the form of the hand

I use gloves, but not the racing gloves. I bought weight lifting gloves without padding. Because of the open fingers, I have better control over the buttons and scroll wheels. The gloves keeps my wheel rim nicely and I don’t lose grip when my handpalm is getting sweaty.

I use Gloves because it is what I am used to in a real race car and also to protect the Alcantara on the wheel rim.

I wear gloves because my hands get cold when racing, especially if I go very fast ;-)

I use gloves basically to protect Alcantara wheel. I have also Alcantara in my daily drive but I don't use gloves in the real car. I don't, it feels weird! But every 6 to 8 months I have to clean the wheel with soap and a brush to revive the Alcantara grips

Gloves are good because you want to have a comfortable loose grip on the wheel. With that you can let the tires work find their path of least resistance and still be comfortable. Without gloves I tend to hold the wheel too tight where the wheel doesn't move in my hands at all, which is not great for car-control. Or I hold the wheel loose like I do with gloves and it will be stressful (you do get a lot of small sensations) as there is no flexible separation between the wheel and your skin and it will eventually be painful (blisters).

Please advise on the steering wheel ANGLE! Thx. Gloves keep oils off precious alcantara...

I use karting gloves, since I like to run a bit higher forces with a DD wheel (not overly high but stronger and bit more direct then others I met (or close to real forces in vintage high performance cars) ) it is more comfortable especially at endurance races ... or when racing kartsims it is alot more comfortable with gloves...
but the initial reason to use gloves was that I didn't wanted to grabble my new wheel off with sweaty hands and also didn't wanted my hands to get black by the black suede... well the wheel is pretty grabbled off now after about 5 years of heavy use.. but would have happened alot sooner with sweaty hands I think...
however after all this years now using gloves.. I am just very used to it.. that it feels unnatural to grip the racingwheel without gloves.. also like I said it is more comfortable for more direct ffb especially at longer races.
I didn't use gloves back in those logitech wheels days. The glove age came with the direct drive for me...
Same goes for shoes with pedals...
didn't use shoes with logitech pedals... but as soon I got the heusinkveld Pros I started to use shoes.... that was indeed one of the many reasons to upgrade the pedals back then... I wanted to be able to race with shoes... I wanted to have a pedal set where I can/need a considerable amount of force.. for beeing more consistend.. but also to get a more reallife feel... and with that comes racing in shoes... (I usually don't drive cars barefoot or in socks :D )
racing sims with shoes and gloves is great.. and is comfortable... if you have the fitting hardware... it doesn't make so much sense with entry level gear because there you often need to feel every little thing which is alrady a bigger thing on higher end gear.... but if someone feels comfortable with it on entry level gear I am not saying anything against it...

I prefer gloves with a direct drive wheel. Also if you have a suede or Alcantara covered wheel, it gives better grip. I’m still not sure if I prefer shoes or no shoes.

  • @Collsaur

I use glove because my hands sweat easily
1 lap in spa and my hands will slippery for rubber grip or make suede like cheap wheel

  • @Haneye1
    @Haneye1 Před 4 lety

I use gloves to protect the wheel from sweat. It will make the foam (or whatever it is) wear out sooner. With gloves, that dont happen.
