- If James never had to deal with terrible parents forcing him to become engaged to a terrible person, how would his life be different? Well, today I am going to find out what a Pokémon Journey for a 10-year-old James and his best pal Growlie could be like!
As well, according to the upload schedule that I made for myself and that no one is aware of, this video is very late. So, since none of you know it's late but me, I am apologizing to myself. Sorry, Alex. I know you wanted to see this sooner!

It's crazy how different things can be when your parents aren't evil!
Departure from my usual kinds of videos, but I love Pokémon and I love doing videos about something insignificant that take way to long to make! This was a match made in heaven.
Also, did this video make it clear how much I enjoyed the Diamond and Pearl anime? Gen 4 absolutely got me back into Pokémon after trying to ignore it because I was "an adult". Ha.

James is such a chill person when you think about it. He grew up rich yet he has never acted spoiled and has never been salty about money, or the fact that he lost his luxury lifestyle the day he ran away. James overall aura strikes me more as some friendly hippie because he is kind to everyone. If I didn't know that James grew up rich I wouldn't believe it if someone told me.

I would actually pay money for them to stop airing ash’s adventures and make a series where Jessie and James didn’t go to Team Rocket. I think we can all agree that they have more charisma and personality compared to ash, etc. plus they really care for each one of their Pokémon

I'm pretty sure they pay Giovanni to keep James on the team to look after him since he won't stay home. I mean, why else would Giovanni keep them on the team when they fail almost every time at everything they're tasked with unless they're with another member to help them 😂

@@RoyalLegend1000 Honestly, Team Rocket helps Ash out indirectly by being a challenge to Ash's Pokémon. A good amount of Ash's Pokémon would not be with him without Team Rocket and others would not have evolved. I would not be surprised if Giovanni keeps them around due to them being both a good people and a challenge for Ash.

I actually have a very interesting theory why Giovanni doesn't fire him. Think about how rich and influential James's family is. Giovanni basically has to keep him close or risk him turning all of that wealth and power against his organisation!
It a lot of ways James is kind of Giovanni's secret weapon.

The whole Nidoqueen thing sounds like a show worthy arc that we see brief flashes of throughout the season before finally coming full circle against Jessibelle's Nidoking in the biggest emotional payoff of the show.
Also James and I quote “they were so envious that they beat me nearly everyday” (this was referring to his schoolmates)
Meowth not learning how to speak because of a traumatic experience with Meowzie but due to watching too many movies with James made me LOSE IT.

the player character is one of the luckiest trainers per region, if they lived anywhere else in the region they would have a much more chalanging start and either have the easiest gym last or near the middle of thier adventure
I think in the anime it was established that gym leaders adjust their party based on the trainer's level

@@eduardopantoja9115 There's actually a Pokemon rom hack that allows players to challenge gym leaders in any order.
Pretty sure the logic behind it is that the leaders keep making their teams stronger over time, so starting anywhere, you will still have the same level of difficulty. And then maybe reset after the league ends.

Tbh, I’ve often wondered why James didn’t try something like this even with the rotten snobbish parents. Nothing forced him to turn to Team Rocket and a life of crime after he ran away. Why didn’t he run away with Growlie and start a Pokémon journey? He’s too nice for a criminal, and actually has a way with Pokémon that could make him into a great trainer.
Probably wanted to feel like he had choices on his own life now and tested out the waters in a risky move entering a criminal org, or he may have been a victim of Team R's propaganda/fake information and now its too late to quit
Well he tried Pokémon Tech and the bicycle gang first. But at some point he probably ran out of money - so he looked for a job and the most exciting and promising one out there seemed to be Team Rocket. I really can't blame him.

This deserves a solid like. I'm glad you gave him magikarp permanently since it does evolve into one of the strongest pokémon in Kanto. I also enjoy how you added new pokemon like carnivine from Sinnoh. Which would be extremely cool to see when it doesnt exist in that region. These stories are so touching! Awesome work!
Well, he's working in elements from later in the anime to add to the story of this What-If; still looking forward to Part 4 (just caught up) to see how the story continues!
It speaks to his parents wanting James to grow and mature on his own as outside of Koffing (and I assume fitting the bill for care should he transfer any pokemon to his grandparents or the mansion) they didn't help him much on the journey. His parents easily could've imported strong Pokemon from Sinnoh or any where yet they wanted him to do it on his own.

I think someone recommended it as a Strategy Pokemon. Koffing is pretty Meh, but Its EVO Wheezing is decent.
I believe it was "Island of the Giant Pokémon" where after Ash and Team Rocket lose their Pokémon and wash ashore (thanks to a Gyarados newly evolved by James' Magic Boot), Jessie and James exclaim how their respective Pokémon are missing - with James stating that his parents gave it to him as a Christmas Present.
This info is being referred to in this video by giving it to him a few years early.
They clearly knew he had a thing for poison type, and if they are supportive in this universe they'd respect that 💜

Imagine making a Doujin with this in mind. Ah~ One of my long lost projects.
James in this dimension is a worthy rival / gym leader, not only limited to Ash.
I would also love to follow Jessie and James love story in this world. A sadistic tsundere Jessie would certainly evolve to an ara-ara goddess later on.
This dimension's Meowth would also be a fit for a "butler" but loyal friend and equal standing kind of way to James, who may later pursue volunteering in a Day Care Center or Pokémon Camps. I cannot unsee the idea of Meowth bridging baby Pokémon to young children and maybe matching them with their perfect starter Pokémons. This is due to the fact that he understands the two worlds, the humans' and the Pokémons'. He would never probably evolved to a Persian, but if he does, he would be a good looking one. An ikemen for Pokémons, noble and gallant looking. As if the badge on his forehead shines gold.
A James who is not an aristocrat and has learned his way of life through simple living.
A Jessie who is foul-mouthed who later emanates a ray of hope and a caring attitude.
A once abandoned Meowth is surrounded and looked up upon by people and Pokémon alike.
This is one of the alternate timelines I had envisioned for as long as I can remember.

Ash missed the one where Goh was present,
but he did attend it with Serena.
I must say, this story was really well planned and constructed. Despite being such an overlooked detail in his backstory, James being engaged to Jessebelle was the final straw that pushed him into the path that led him to Team Rocket. It really makes you wonder what would've happened if that wasn't forced upon him. And him being a trainer and going on a journey does seem realistic, seeing as some of his flashbacks show him enjoying being around Pokémon. Also, nice touches with adding Jessie and Meowth there.
I would love to see how this new James does in Orange Islands and possibly in other regions. Might be asking a lot there, but nonetheless, I very much enjoyed this 'What if'!

This little 'what if' scenario went perfectly and I'd love to see this series continue. James could learn about Pokemon Coordinators during his exploration of the Orange Isles and fits that to be a much better fit with him than being a Battler. Again, Jessebelle follows and causes problems, but with Meowth ready to use her face as a Scartch-ing post, she can only cause problems, being too afraid of Meowth and James's other pokemon to confront him directly. Especially after James runs into Jessie again, which itself is a whole event because of Meowth's loathing towards Jessebelle. Jessie is on her own journey now, testing herself as a Battler and Coordinator, and while James takes an interest in Coordinator competitions, he's more relaxed as he explores the Orange Isles, so asks if Jessie would mind if he came with her on her journey. Despite a bit of hesitation, Jessie agrees, saying she 'doesn't mind' him 'following' her.
This leads to two events with Jessebelle, the first of which has Jessebelle confronting James and Jessie, accusing James of 'cheating' on her and Jessie of 'stealing my James.' James argues he and Jessebelle were never together, Jessie argues she isn't stealing anyone from anybody, followed by Jessie beating Jessebelle in a pokemon battle, then punching Jessebelle when she tries to attack James for cheering for and praising Jessie. Leaving an embarrassed and furious Jessebelle behind, Jessie admits she understands now why James reacted the way he did when they first met, both raising the question of why the two girls look alike, but James gives up on trying to puzzle it out first, admitting he much prefers Jessie over Jessebelle, causing Jessie to blush before punching him for his sappiness and marching off, unable to make herself stop blushing.
In the second event, which doesn't happen for some time, Jessebelle returns, intending to get her revenge of Jessie and finally make James hers. To do this, Jessebelle waits for James and Jessie to separate, then trick Jessie into a dangerous situation in order to get rid of her, maybe even pay someone to do it, wanting Jessie to get hurt. Then, while Jessie is being taken care of, Jessebelle will take Jessie's place, pretending to be Jessie, having been practicing to speak and act like Jessie, planning to deceive James until he marries her, after which it will be too late. And Jessebelle pulls this off remarkably well, being able to trick James and all of his pokemon, even Growly; but not Meowth. Having always been on guard around Jessie due to her resemblance to Jessebelle, Meowth is too watchful and suspicious, ignoring when James tells him to relax, eventually provoking Jessebelle to speak with her normal accent, revealing her true identity. James demands to know where Jessie is, and though still furious, Jessebelle refuses to tell him, admitting that while she may not have tricked James like she planned, she'll still get her revenge on Jessie for trying to steal him away. James snaps and, for the first time in her life, Jessebelle sees James truly angry, and actually hits her. As she's still recovering from the blow, James shouts at her, telling Jessebelle exactly what he thinks of her and that he has and now always will hate her. James then goes running off in search of Jessie, Meowth following; if this happens in a city, he notices something Jessebelle dropped when he struck her, giving him a clue on where to go. James arrives in time to save Jessie, who has been fighting to escape since falling into Jessebelle's trap but both she and her pokemon are nearing exhaustion, making her very grateful for James's arrival. James gets Jessie to safety, then apologizes to her, explaining what happened and blaming himself for Jessie being put into the bad situation she was, not holding it against her if she doesn't want to be around him anymore. Jessie stares at James for a moment before punching him, weakly due to her exhaustion, before hugging him, calling him a stupid idiot and asking if he really expected her to blame her best friend for what some psychopath does? James smiles and hugs Jessie back, thanking her. The two then head for the nearest pokemon center, James attempting to carry Jessie so she can rest, but he's not very strong and fails miserably. Jessie smiles, blushes, and laughs, before just leaning on his shoulder as they head off. The last shot of Jessebelle is her exactly where James left her, now curled up into a ball and crying, yet clenching her hands into tight fists.
At the end of the Orange Isles journey, an older Coordinator whom both James and Jessie competed against talk to the pair and, while talking about the skills they each showed in the competitions, mentions the Performer showcases in Kalos where they are from and gave them an edge as a Coordinator, and suggests the pair check it out, believing they would like it a lot. Jessie and James agree to consider it, first wanting to return home, but promising to keep in touch and, if they want to check out Kalos and Pokemon Performers, they will do it together. This is exactly what they end up doing, agreeing to meet up at the airport and, together, fly to Kalos to learn about Pokemon Performers, ending things there and setting up for Season 3.

I knew the Team Rocket trio had more good qualities than bad. I really want to see them get a redemption story in the canon universe. This series is a good hypothesis for events that would lead them down the right path.

I had an idea for other seasons... James and Meowth run into Jessie, who decides to be a Pokémon trainer, so it’s her we see battling and getting badges, since it’s her that’s always been the more aggressive battler. Meanwhile, James discovers Pokémon Contests, which while they do include battling, are mainly about putting on a show and showing off how special your Pokémon are, which I think he’d really be excited about, and having rich parents, him mom and dad probably packed him a fancy suit or tuxedo just in case. He was shown to be good at contests so I think it’d fit! Also, contests are in ALL regions here, especially Kalos instead of that dumb girls only beauty pageant showcase
Would be funny though if James disguised himself as a girl to be in a Pokémon pageant.

I have a question. Does anyone else believe that there are pokemon pet stores? I know they have breeders so im wondering if some non trainers just buy a pokemon pet.
I've never thought of that but it makes total sense!
@@FiveToedSloth There are also contest people too. Not all come off as trainers either. Also if i recall the creator of the pokemon manga was originally going to show a pet store and in one design photo was a pokemon crammed in a cage.
