    some drivers need to re-read the highway code.... Mini-roundabouts. Approach these in the same way as normal roundabouts. All vehicles MUST pass round the central markings except large vehicles which are physically incapable of doing so. Remember, there is less space to manoeuvre and less time to signal. Avoid making U-turns at mini-roundabouts.

    • @RushfanUK
      @RushfanUK Před měsícem +1

      The set up of quite a few mini roundabouts with the entry and exit will lead you to cut the roundabout, I have one in my town centre that has two lanes on each entry with single lane exits, the only way you could go round the markings is to cut into the other lane as you enter the roundabout so every driver turning right on it has to cut it no matter which direction you come from, that's why it's only ever been a flat painted marking as well.

This HGV driver is distracted for an extended period of time as the cam car is passing. or he would be aware that there are other motorists directly to his left, even if he cant see them directly at the time of him moving over. Furthermore the HGV driver is not passing other cars on the right and is hogging that lane further indicating that he is not paying attention.
      This is not an absolution on the part of the cam car, merely an observation that HGV drivers are quite commonly given a pass for reckless driving by commenters who don't know any better. HGV drivers have a responsibility to drive with care and be more aware than a typical motorist for the simple fact that they are driving a MUCH more dangerous vehicle. Only for a Tesla (surprise, surprise!) to carry straight on regardless, missing the pedestrians by inches. Personally i disagree that this rule applies to roundabouts, but that’s a whole different argument. Regardless, in this situation it appeared safe for the pedestrians to cross, as there was no traffic in lane 2 ….. that is until the Tesla decides otherwise.

      The point here is *at a junction*.
      If you're turning into or out of a side road, if pedestrians are there and look to be crossing, or are crossing, then they should be allowed to do so.
      This example here (or so it seems on my potato phone) seemed to be just letting them cross the road.
      The same for the previous clip too. The pedestrians had a red light and they crossed anyway.
      The exact wording from the highway code is
      "Rule H2 - Rule for drivers, motorcyclists, horse drawn vehicles, horse riders and cyclists.
      At a junction you should give way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross a road into which or from which you are turning."
      Since this new rule came out, pedestrians seem to throw themselves into traffic thinking they have ultimate right of way.

    5:50 HC Rule H2: At a junction you should give way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross a road into which or from which you are turning.
    Entrances and exits of roundabouts are junctions, so pedestrians have priority.
    The vehicle ahead was obeying this 1992 introduction to the Highway Code, and all drivers should be aware of the change.

      It does say that, but junctions and roundabouts are separate sections in the Highway Code, so it's not very clear whether rule H2 is meant to refer to roundabouts or not. Indeed, whilst there is an illustration of the H2 rule in the junctions section, there is no such illustration or mention in the roundabouts section.

    4:06 - I don’t think it needed context - it’s pretty obvious it’s the Audiot’s natural way of thinking !

    Is it me or did dave clearly accelerate hard as the van pulled out?

      Or was Dave accelerating, then the van pulled out?

    5:46 yes Charley B, they're stopping to give way to the pedestrians crossing the junction, as per the highway code. Maybe you should read it!

      It has only been changed for 26 months, nowhere near enough time for people to reread it 😉

    Anyone with half a brain could see what would happen in that 1st clip. Hang around in blind spots and you're asking for trouble. This should be driving 101 for anyone with a licence at this point.

    That DCR clip genuinely surprised me! I didn't realise they had cameras that would snap on you driving in a lane marked as closed! Funny as fuck to see people getting caught though 😂😂

      How does that work, d’you know? I’ve not heard of cameras for closed lanes, before! (my first thought was “fuck me, that’s a randomly consistent bit of lightning overhead”!)

    • @vickiemily9432
      @vickiemily9432 Před měsícem +1

      @razzle1964 not a scooby doo! I imagine it just snaps when any vehicle is seen travelling in the lane, same way a bus lane might work maybe, where they catch non-bus vehicles travelling in them? It's a weird one

      @dedistaulapanodki6293 Před měsícem +4

      Not hard to see how they work. They're just speed cameras covering a lane, so have them detect anything moving at above zero mph in that lane.

      Same camera and light as does the speed check photos probably.

      @@vickiemily9432 … indeed. Another annoying little ‘rabbit hole’ that I’ll have to look into, at some point, to sate my curiosity. I’d hate to fall foul of something like that.🤷‍♂️ ✌️

    I was going to state the obvious blind spot for clip 1 but the radio advert for checking your stress levels now was timed so well I cant not comment on that 😂

    First one looks like the Holywood bypass. Don't sit in a lorry's blind spot, especially an Irish Waste tanker that is full of something very nasty.
