We're not obsessed with races, we've never had apartheid, to give you an example I'm a mix of french, spanish, arabic, and native blood, we're all mixed. We never colonized other lands, we have other kind of problems, that's why I'm so tired with the " Nazi" problem. We've had through history huge immigrations from Italy, Spain, France, Poland, Russia, Arabia, China, Korea, etc. We are a beautiful mix of races, and thats what people from other countries can't understand.

I dont live in Argentina, I live next door, in Uruguay, but i dont think they are racist. This whole Argentinians being racist thing sounds blown out of proportion to me and its sad because i think its getting a bad rep over something thats maybe not there. They might be surprised seeing black people, yes, of course, cause its not that common, and be curious about you, but thats it.
For example i saw one black youtuber go there and at one point got shouted "nigga" by some teens on the street, and he took offense.
But the thing is, they only shouted that cause that's the word we get from the movies and songs we get from the US. We don't know enough to know it may be offensive, we just repeat what we hear from US pop culture. They were trying to imitate hip hop, basically, to get some communication going.

Beef in Argentina does not need as much seasoning as beef from Brazil, because the cows are raised on flat land, it does not have to climb mountains, so it is less tough and muscular, so it does not need tenderizing processes with additional seasonings.

However, this video is actually created with the intention to motivate the person who believes they won’t be accepted in Argentina to give it a shot. Due to historical reasons, there is the idea that Argentina is a horrible and racist society…. That wasn’t my experience but let’s create an environment where we can discuss this and motivate the next brother or sister to travel there or miss it completely.

The racism thing is little complicated to say the least, is mostly about us not being used to seeing black people around and thus not knowing what can be interpreted as racism to foreingners. The only people i've seen being outwardly racist from my country has been on social media SPECIALLY twitter, the stuff i've some people say over there is insane, but 99% of them are just edgy teens thinking edgy=funny and bcuz there aren't black people around they barely get any consecuences for their foul behaviour.
We also use the word negro often but mostly use as a way to say friend or just "black man", about the sexualisation and objectification i don't think is common, although me personally i love black women.

Argentina is one of the least racist countries of the World, and that's because we never experimented real racial segregation, and race mixing was encouraged even from the times of the Spanish Empire (when we were Río de la Plata Viceroyalty). We had Black people, but they were assimilated by the bigger whiter and mestizo group. Racism in Argentina is for the most part a myth. There's some racial slurs floating around, but they're ghosts for the most part, and not a reality like in really racist countries.
There's more I could say, but I think this is enough. Please, everyone, do your own research on this topic, talk with real locals and even visit the country (Argentina), before making any comments. Do not let media, prejudices and bad information educate you.

I heard "bak a wall" and chuckled so hard. Are you Jamaican? I loved my time in Argentina in 2020 and didn't experience any racism. If anything it felt opposite like I had "American privilege." I was there for 2 months and did not want to return to the US. I was in Palermo in the most amazing apartment with everything for $700 a month including utilities. Mentally, I felt at peace. When they had breaking news on their tv and my chest would tighten (think school shooting etc). It would be something like a car accident on the highway. For me the food was an issue because it's a lot of steak and I am pescatarian. If I could go back today and work remotely I'd be there now.

There is racism in Argentina as there is elsewhere, I think some cultures, like America, tend to think racism only in terms of blacks or afro descendants, but as Argentina has very little black population, racism is mostly directed towards mixed race people, often with one or both of Indigenous and afro ancestry, and all the spectrum of race mixing with whites.
Racists even use the word "negro" to identify these people even when they are not even close to be afro, but the racism is still there.
We also use "negro" as a kind nickname, and it applies to everyone, independently of your racial background.
In general, I would say that "race" is not so important in Argentine culture as it is in America or other countries were black and white population remained separated until very recently, in the XX century.

Traveling abroad allows you to acquire transcultural awareness (competence). Racism is everywhere, but culturally and geographically manifested/situated. Race is a social construct, and race and racial identity are more fluid and undefined for most Latinoamericans, making it a less noticeable trait for them. A different history w/o Jim Crow made a difference in racialization and also mixing, there is no 1 drop rule bs like in the US, etc. I think the guy commenting on your race may have warned you. If you experience racism there it is likely to come from unconscious biases, systemic structural remnants or from European older immigrants, not all. The word "negro" can have positive connotations, unimaginable for the Euro imperial-colonial thought on race where black describes negatives, hence a lot of players get in trouble in EU. The chant reflects a lack of awareness of what Afrodescendants face in European societies, but it also points out how migration is ok only to advance their football objectives, while they have policies that continue to choke economic success in many African countries ((France), systemic racism and de facto segregation, they cannot point the finger. I remember the migrant camps in Normandia and a fire, it was not humane at all. No absolutes exist. Cheers from DC !

When I started living in Argentina 1984 I found that people would say the word negro.. I didn't understand because the people they were referring to were not black but what they were referring to was the color of their hair.. anybody that is mixed has black hair.. people who are not white ,that is the way that they refer to them,, a lot of police officers and military are negros😮😂

A question mark behind word racist (!) Sort of like ... "I heard back-in-the day the sky use to be blue, is it still like that?" Well... it certainly looks that way, doesn't it?

Desinformation Is a weapon of Mass destruction. all the comments of "racism" in Argentina come from african americans, they behave extremely bad in Buenos Aires, specially towards women, And they talk about "racism" just because most of locals are White. Dont come here, we recieve thousands of well behaved tourists anyway
