    Zwift's new steering mode allows you to choose your own line, draft off specific riders, and even ditch riders trying to draft off you. But how big a change to the game is it? I dig in with a hands-on ride to test out the new Elite Sterzo Smart steering plate and accessory for a first few rides, using Bluetooth Smart with Zwift iOS, PC, Android, and Mac.

    I thought this was a stupid idea, I had the original Tacx iMagic Steerer and never used it, but after watching this review I've changed my mind (well sort of), in races I can see it being useful, when riding by myself I wouldn't use it, in terms of an advantage in races, well that is no different to having a faster bike, buy it or earn it, just like in real life 😀, great review thanks

      Zpower gets flagged as such and excluded from results, so isn't really a problem. The bigger problem is that powermeters and trainers are so horrendously inaccurate that you can't compare one to the other anyway - with a 5% accurancy per unit, and variance between brands, as well as variants under temperature, or due to poor calibration, power from non-zpower sources that you "trust" can still be 10-20% out from the real figure.

    Silly question... but will it work non Elite smart trainers ?

    if only someone made a sweat guard that made for steering

  • @altern8tive
    @altern8tive Před 4 lety

    so you can't steer into other riders or pass through them but can non-steering riders still do it to you - zwift interpreting it as a collision and bumping you off line ?

    Is it onscreen noticeable if riders just the Sterzo?

  • @sergiodihno
    @sergiodihno Před 4 lety

    Does it feel intuitive like outdoor riding where you instinctively know you have to steer to go in the direction you want? I feel like with zwift, you're sort of just used to doing the pedaling and nothing else. So, did you ever just forget to steer and then realized it when your avatar was on the wrong side?

    • @allthenewz
      @allthenewz Před 2 lety

      Nope it feels weird to steer. in the real world you lean not turn the handlebars. If i turned the handlebars like that I would crash in real life.

    • @sergiodihno
      @sergiodihno Před 2 lety

      @@allthenewz probably not really worth it and the kickr climb serves better purpose for "simulation" purposes (though at a higher price tag)

      @@suplego3224 if they had one with a base that moved to match the bottom of the climb it might work. the climb also does pivot so stability plus it moving for steerering may be intresting

    How much are they selling the smart sterzo?
    I just bought the non smart sterzo, can I still ride the road steering courses with that and the phone or I need the electronic sterzo?
    Is there a possibility to buy an upgrade kit for the none smart sterzo?

    well zwift haven't removed ZP users from races yet ...

  • @velotonbetatestvideos5294

    Interesting that Zwift have taken this approach, unfortunately it does not change many if any aspect of racing on Zwift. Firstly it only gives you a lateral steer and collision function which is countered by the fact you can still ride through the rider in front of you so in actual fact defeats the whole purpose of having a steering facility. DC mentions that you can not go through a rider, this is correct but only in the lateral aspect which is irrelevant since the purpose id to continue to move forward.
    To counter this all you have to do is steer left or right, find a forward gap and move in or simply don't use steering and increase you power as normal and ride through the rider in a forward motion. The next thing is, who actually uses their steerer to steer like this. You use body position and balance and very rarely ever physically turn your steerer to steer. Big down side to this introduction, Point 1 £78 in the UK to get steering, 2. no consideration to Wahoo Climb 3 Will it work with Wahoo Smart bike or Tacx?
    If DC Rainmaker wishes to discuss the functionality of Velotons Steering and where we out strip others or any potential user wishes to know more then I will be happy to tell you.
    All this aside it is good that Zwift have eventually moved on this unfortunately they have failed to produce something that makes it a game changer for many reasons
