- Upgrading an old shower is a great way to refresh your bathroom. And if you’re simply replacing like for like, and don’t have to move any plumbing round, then installing a brand new shower enclosure is actually a job you can do yourself.

1:34 that watch bracelet is holding on for dear life lmao
0:27 "licenced shower installer" - I'm an Aussie and I find it hilarious Australia and NZ attach licensure to absolutely everything - so funny!
Keeps everything legal so if anything goes wrong the licensed person will be responsible.
@S W ill give you an example. Would you let an unlicensed builder build your house?
@@MartinCole-TradingView yeah couldn't agree more. Explains everything about how we're living under lockdown

Amazing job
Dont forget the timber fixing for the slide rail for the shower head.
Great guide, thank you. If you're installing an enclosed shower like this, do you need to do any waterproofing beforehand?

Nope, the shower liner is protection enough for the walls
Make sure that there is Aqualine gib board or equivalent though before installation.
Good information thanks
Very straightforward . What make was the shower enclosure ?
This looks to be Dramline in the USA
Nice video m8. Helpful as. But I might have added a bead of silicone to the top and bottom extrusion to make for a quieter action on that door. Might be overkill but yeah, nah?
Never mind, should have finished the video before I commented
Anyone watching this, i followed this instruction to a T. Lesson learn: Triple the amount of adhesive on both sides. That 80mm gap between adhesive bead is far too wide, aim for 3-4 tube per side. You will not regret it. Add about 50-100mm horizontal bulk bead on the tray/aqua-line transition gap. Sit the liner like a tent (with the corner edge pointing up) for at least a day before installation, this will make the corner more sharp 90 degrees and get rid of any rounding. Spend a good 20min rubbing the adhesive through out the area of the liner. Pay closer attention to areas along bottom edge, and around the mixer. I cannot stress this enough! Good Luck.
thanks
Great video thanks
I'm looking to install the exact same shape/style of shower. How much variance is there from shower to shower in terms of the install?
Can anyone tell me exactly which model/make this particular shower is? Thanks
You usually have the shower on hand before farming. What you can do is add the 4/2 on its flat facing the shower on critical areas such as the door and the slide rail of the shower head so there is less chance of missing with the screws later.
Nice vid...high from England :)
How do you remove the old enclosure
Brilliant
Very nicel thank you
I've done this install but it leaks in the corners. Cannot figure it out.
Can you please tell me if you can install these shower enclosures over existing tiles? TIA
Helen Gibson yes you can.
how long after fixing the shower liner until you can start fitting the doors?

Can liquid nails be used as the adhesive, why I ask is that the plaster board has been treated with waterproof membrane?
Yes
Why did you not add the protective rubber matting underneath it in case it leaks ???
This particular type of shower does not require it.
Do we need to do waterproof the floor before that or na ,plz advise
Best to be safe in bathrooms to avoid moisture, but definitely have a chat with your local store to advise as each scenario/design will be different ^Charlie
I have applied sealer paint to the Gibb aqualine. i have been told I must not do that as the glue won't adhere and that I must remove the Gibb and installed new sheets.. is this true?
My shower liner has started bubbling from the jib - coming away from the wall. How do I fix this?
Remove and replace, possibly may have to replace the aqualine gib too.
what is the reason for the jib aqua line to sit 10mm above the tray opposed to being hard against it?
Probably so it doesn't rot if it gets wet
To allow for earthquake movement
Gib manual says there should be silicone between the tray and gib, he missed that
Because of Capillary action
Does anyone know that the liner is called on the uk?
Why does manufacturer want mine installed over bed of cement mortar . It looks exactly the same
Atleast I have an idea, thanks
You know I had to do it to em
Hi
can u please tell me what brand is the shower pan
OVE - BASE
So nothing between the acrylic base and the door frame? 🤔
13:40 I'm confused as to why the silicone between the bottom of the frame and the shower tray has to go on the outside.
I would have thought it was better to put it on the inside to prevent water from getting underneath the frame
Hi Mick, thanks for asking! If applied to the inside, water may leak through the profiles causing a damp patch. And if sealed on both the inside and outside, trapped moisture will stagnate within. ^Cam
@@mitre10nz
Thanks for the reply.
But I think I didn't phrase the question properly.
I meant, why not silicone on the inside rather than the outside. Not seal it on both the inside and the outside.
Cheers
Thanks Mick. This is the most watertight solution is to silicone on the outside. If applied to the inside, water may leak through the profiles causing a damp patch. ^Cam

Thanks. That all makes perfect sense.

You are super 👌
Cheers Vivian 👍

How to dismantle a shower enclosure Uk
How do you cover the GIB above the shower? I believe it is prone to splashing... Any particular coating on it?
We've used GIB Aqualine which has a water resistant core to help prevent steam and moisture penetration 🙌 ^Cam
You should gib stop and paint before, notice they say ‘water resistant’
@@wayneg5433 can you tell me why most showers fail on the bottom corners next to the gib within the first 5-10years?
I love you
Does it matter if wall have a coat of paint?
the liner adhesive says no paint, it sticks best to bare wall
I have one of these but it is leaking :( I think I need to remove the metal door parts and put silicone in again
Hey, we just got one of these shower box too and the bottom coner is leaking! Did you manage to find out why your's is leaking? Thanks for sharing :)

@@SiggyPony That's exactly the same spot we had our leaking issue. Just watched your video, it's super helpful! Thank you so much:)
@@narajin9814 I'm glad it was helpful :) I hope you can fix your shower
Why do you go 10mm off the shower tray?
Hey Toby, this is NZ industry standard on how to install a shower, and the video follows guidance from the shower manufacturer. ^Matt
I wonder if anyone has followed the instructions exactly, there's no plumbing for the mixer etc!

Reminds me of the shower from Sims lol
I dont understand why he dont install the wall first then base?
The wall liner overlaps the base.
ok but how is the tray held in ???????
Thanks for your comment, Kevin! Adhesive is provided with the shower enclosure - you apply it to the feet on the base of the shower tray and leave it for 24hrs to set 👍 ^Billie
So what happens if you changing from a bath to a shower when the floor is concrete.. so the waste can't be fitted
You'd be best to speak to a plumber for the best advise 😊
You might have to add a false floor under the shower, that’s what I did. You will need to allow a drop for wastewater to flow if you know what I mean.
