you know what, im an old man, i grew up with the A-Team, and I gotta say, this movie is exactly what a modern retelling of the story would and should be. I loved it. so many older franchises get completely fucked over by modernizations and cash-grab movies, and this one is on that border, but never crosses the line. its actually respectful. I mean, we ARE talking about a show where they would turn 3 random tools, BA's van, and scrap metal into any impossible machine the script called for in >30 minutes. they did fine in this movie.

A big part of the premise of the original show is that they're still on the run from the government. This movie pretty much ends where the show would begin. That voice over at the end is the same as the voice over that plays at the beginning of every episode of the show.

The A-team is a legendary show if you ask anyone that was actually alive and watching television in the ‘80s (Which I am not, but still enjoy it). It’s basically them acting as mercenaries who only take jobs to right wrongs and protect the innocent. It’s good and enjoyable, though the dialogue and action can be somewhat corny at times. You may find it repetitive after awhile, like many long-airing shows. Overall, I would recommend giving it a watch at some point.

For a modern reboot of a 80's tv show the 4 main A-team actors did a really good job. I watched the tv show in the 80's and the film is faithful to the source material themes. Sharlto Copley probably had the hardest character to replicate (Murdock) and he succeeded. The film ends with them on the run, completely matches the tv show where they are always wanted for crimes they didn't commit. I do wonder how well the film worked for people who never had the nostalgia from watching the tv show.

You asked whether doing the TV show would be of interest. It was a cool, fun little show, and you can't go wrong with Mr. T, but it wasn't so compelling that you would want to watch the whole series. Then I thought: it might be a fun theme for you to do a sampling of famous action shows through the years, maybe 2 episodes per series. That way, you could get a sense of each.
Magnum P.I., Knight Rider, Blue Thunder, The Dukes of Hazzard, MacGyver, Fall Guy, Buck Rogers, Star Trek ORIGINAL series, Battlestar Galactica; these are all names you may have heard, but never seen.
You could also do a separate theme for comedy, and have your own little PrimateVision series as well

Of all that rando action movies that came out around this time, this was the best one by far. It didn't take itself too seriously and just had crazy amounts of insane action. It was fun. And the reason they were re-arrested is because they were sentenced in a court of law and broke out. Once back, the case would get reviewed and the sentencing vacated, etc. But that takes time. So they broke out again. :D But they would very likely have been cleared and even reinstated if they wanted.

This movie is awesome. Got a bit of a mixed reaction from the original cast and creator.
The creator liked it and wished he'd been able to get this much character development into the show.
Haven't heard much of what Dirk Benedict thought of the movie itself, just that he regrets accepting a cameo because it felt like a cheap way of getting someone from the original cast on screen.
Which is why Mr. T didn't accept a cameo role at all, in addition to not wanting to confused folks who might think he was reprising his role or would have a bigger part. And thought the movie was going to be more violent than it turned out being. Otherwise, he didn't mind the idea of a remake.
Dwight Schultz didn't particularly like the movie, seeing it as an extended homage without the original spirit, but *loved* Sharlto Copley's take on Murdoch.
George Peppard died 14 years before the movie came out, sadly.

When Murdoch is getting electro shocked in the hospital one of the doctors observing was Dwight Schultz who played Murdoch in the tv series and when they were breaking Murdoch out of the hospital the song playing is the original theme song. When Face is heading into the tanning booth the prisoner he’s talking to about the tanning lotion is Dirk Benedict who played the original Face in the tv series. Mr T was supposed to cameo in it but he didn’t want to have a cameo. He wanted to play his character from the series. It’s too bad this wasn’t that widely received for them to make more cause they could’ve kept making more of these. This movie was like a prequel to the tv series.

I love the TV show. Of course B.A. was my favorite. I used to do his signature "throw a person over the truck" move all the time in my room using a pillow. 🤣🤣🤣 You should watch a few of the best episodes of The A-Team tv show so you can see how the characters compared between the movie and the show. The thing with B.A. not wanting to fly was a running joke. They would always have to come up with way to trick him into getting on a plane or helicopter.

Limitless is a good Bradley Cooper movie. Silver Linings Playbook is also good, but more of a drama.

I really wish one day someone would do a recation to the tv show it was so good the movie was so underratted most reviews just called it a action movie with no point but they totally miss the point the a team is not meant to be anything major just a great time

The A-Team series was intentionally cheesy, as it's a parody of the action genera. As such, this movie really fits well. Many other shows that have been made into movies, the movie suck.

If you liked this I highly recommend watching The Losers 2010, it’s the film The A Team should have been & is completely under rated.

The things you’re hesitating on, you wouldn’t be if you were familiar with the show. This movie is better than how it performed. Loved the casting.
