  • We are back after a bit of an October break with another adventure of the lovable Louts of Chaos, my morally off-center band of Warhammer Quest Warriors. Having successfully completed a whopping two whole missions, they now embark on a quest to find the next ruler of some northern tribe by dipping a magical sword in the Fountain of Light. At least they don't have to deal with the electoral college.
    This is a game report of the classic 1995 GW board Game Warhammer Quest with lots of the expansion material thrown in. Today's adventure includes the cards from the basic set as well as some White Dwarf cards including The Lair of the Horned Rat, some additional custom cards drawn from the expanded monster and encounter tables in the Role-play Book, the cards from the Lair of the Orc Lord expansion, and, new for this game, I'll be using some cards from the Catacombs of Terror expansion, which recently arrived in the mail.
    The Louts of Chaos include the barbarian Lief the Legbiter, the chaos warrior Sir Osis of the Liver, the pit fighter Naughtiness Maximus and the wizard Hundred Luftballoon. They will be attempting "The Sword of True Kingship" mission.

    No need to apologize for the length of the dungeon.. more WHQ 1995 atmosphere to ram down my eyeholes is a good thing! 😀🤟

    Great battle report! I was waiting for the next chapter of the story. Please keep up the videos; they are a blast to watch while I paint up my WHQ models. I put in some good work on the old plastic talisman assassin model during this long dungeon crawl.

      Thanks. A lot of my models were painted while listening to other people’s videos and podcasts, some I’m glad mine can keep the ball rolling.

      Thanks. I’m actually working on a new Pit Fighter now, in the hopes that one day he’ll get his next piece of Pit Fighter armor...

    Thanks for the video.
    I have a couple of observations. 1. The Pit Fighter is supposed to have a special Reaction skill. I was wondering if maybe you left it off, thinking that it makes him too overpowered. 2. The Barbarian’s bonus to his Berserk roll (from number of monsters killed) is only supposed to apply to the current combat. It gets reset after the combat is over. The bonus Attack only lasts for the current combat as well. I was not sure which “bonus” you were referencing - maybe I did not pay close enough attention.
    EDIT: Oh, I see you did use the Pit Fighter’s special ability later in the video. Perhaps you were only using it for Unexpected Events. I think in the advanced rules that it applies to every monster event. I will go reread that. :)

      Yeah, my understanding is that the reaction is only for the unexpected events. If there’s a rule in the advanced book that changes it, I haven’t seen it, but it wouldn’t be the first time I missed something like that.
      As for the berserk rule, you are probably right that the way you describe it is the intended method. But it is not clear at all, and I think someone new coming to the game would probably use the rule as I am. Which is really why I still run the rule that way. It’s the way the gaming group ran it when we played back in the 90s, and it’s hard for me to think of the him operating differently.

    • @dmgashbad4908
      @dmgashbad4908  Před 3 lety

      Thanks. Good news: they were both made from the Chaos Marauders set. The Barbarian has an older Chaos shield and a small barrel from somewhere else, but otherwise all the pieces came from that one kit.

    Great content, going through your whole series :)
    Quick questions. Where are these additional events from? Are those from the RPG book or selfmade, or from an expansion?

      Thanks. Good luck. That’s a long series. And you are correct, the additional dungeon events are from the roleplaying book, page 61.
