- Woooooo! 400 videos! This is a good vid for my 400th as I have been struggling with this lock, the renowned Chubb Battleship, for a while. The lockpicking community once again helped me to defeat this awesome beast of a lock :-)
Remember: only pick locks that are yours and that are not in use! Keep locksport legal!

Congratulations buddy for reaching 400 great videos - continue making these wonderful videos with the various content that you're known to make. That's a huge intimidating lock - thanks for sharing. The magnet trick is cool. Great picking - looks so easy ;-)
Thanks Potti :-) I’m glad it looked easy! It’s so much easier with the right tools :-)
Andy Mac also displays great videos around that kind of padlocks.
He does :-)
Excellent job..very well put together and bloody helpful. I love it people chip in tips and share methodology. Thanks bud.

Very nicely done. Thanks or sharing, I enjoyed the lesson very much.
Thanks :-)
Well done on 400. Love your channel. Even my Mrs watches your vids ( that nice posh bloke, she calls you). Andy mac made me some tools for levers they are really good.
Lol, I only sound posh :-)
Well done on reaching 400 videos! Brilliant Community effort in helping you pick that beautiful Chubb. I remember seeing Chubb everywhere back in late 1970s London. I think they even did alarm systems for residential/office use, and God knows what else...Chubb was on everything!
On a technical note. I've never tried opening a lever lock with more than two or three levers. I'm curious to know if you felt any kind of false set when you had set most of the levers. I didn't notice any prior movement of the tensioner until it popped open. 🔓 👏👍
Enzo Guardino they did burglar alarms of all sorts, safes, all kinds of stuff. Good company back in the day.
With levers, you don’t get false sets per se like a spool, but if there are false gates, that can be a real problem. With this lock, it’s the great tollerences, high tension needed and it’s propesity to over-set that makes it tough :-)
Great job picking!! Very awesome padlock!! Happy pickings!!
Thanks 🙏
Great video! :) I've been wanting to make lever tools and play with lever locks but never managed to make anything descent.
And a perfect lock for video 400! Congratulations and don't stop making them! :)
Cheers
Thanks :-) keep going with the lever locks, they’re fun!
Well done I know that they are a difficult pick ! I got one of them with the original box, and I see that silver solder was used on the tension tool ! This solder can really take a pasting. I've made a few difficult to get key blanks and it not let me down!...
Ps you did make that picking look easy LOL..
I’m a bit jealous of the original box tbh :-)
Really nice watching your pick!
Thanks :-)
You na me it look so easy. Best thing is that the tools look easy to get hold of, and fun to make. These locks are not that common in australia. I look forward to giving it a go.. Great job keep it up am learning lots from you.
Thanks :-)
Bravo mate!!! Fantasic work!
Thanks you :-)
Congratulations. Great video, well explained if I ever get to that level I'll have a good idea how to approach it - many thanks.
Thank you. :-)
Awesome lock. Great pick 😀
Thanks :-)
Great picking, awesome old padlock and cool vid as always my friend, I really enjoy it, love the home made tools and to know about an old high security padlock, pretty cool, thanks for showing ;o)))
These old Chubbs are great and they sell for very high prices still as long as they have keys and are working. A real tough workhorse of a lock :-)
No wonder they are so popular, they are well built, they are strong and they are aesthetically impressive, thank you very much for showing, and congratulations for the 400 videos, we want to see 400 more ;o)))
Nice job. That’s a fine old padlock.
Thanks :-)
That is a cool padlock. Thanks Lock Noob
Thank you :-)
Have one of these! A true classic which is going up in price. THE old one is my favourite and a coat of hammerite will do wonders
I think it's got an anti tamper bar which will block the bottom of the key. I may be wrong but it's easy to reset
Awesome mate well done, nice to see the logo on the dust flap.
Mine has corroded a little ro much and the logo is gone.
I have an even better one too :-) that tension tool you made Works a treat, thank you :-)
Very nice picking & lock
Thanks :-)
Excellent thanks for the video
👍👍😊
Thanks :-)
Looks like lever picking is becoming more popular now. I have one but it cost a bit too much down here. 🍺✌
Yeah, they command a very high price if they work and have a key! :-)
Well done buddy and a very cool lock😊😎😎👍👍🔓
Thank you my friend :-)
its good to have friends well done......
Thanks :-)
What a cool looking lock man epic vid! What do you mean when “picking” this lock (ie picking the pins, or levers to the correct position?) Thanks!
You are lifting the levers to the hight of the gates to allow the bolt stump to pass through all the 6 gates. If you over or under set the levers, the lock won’t open :-)
Very cool ;) Bravo!
Thanks :-)
That is a nice lock i bought a old chub
very cool!
Thank you :-)
I just love those Lever Padlocks, it always remind me to Victorian England and movies like "The Great Train Robbery"
www.imdb.com/title/tt0079240/
They have been around for a long time :-)
cool lock i like those tools creative
Gross dude never lick a tool!!!!
ops i corrected that how embarrassing
Should have left it and said "I really LOVE lock tools"
Thanks :-)
When I was a kid I found a lock that looked like that but in brass.
Do you know what it was?
No but here's what I do remember it had the name of a american RR company on a brass tag that was chained to it. .
Hi, i’m pretty sure that the 3 digit numbers on the rear of chubb battleship & cruiser padlocks is a manufacture date code.Your one is 169 = january 1969 which i think was the first year of manufacture for these, i have not seen an earlier number than 69.I’m not sure if the latest ones still have these numbers. Also only the very early ones have the logo on the key flap.
Cool if I have an early one!
Really nice demonstration, thanks.
Malleable Iron is such a nice material... not too brittle, but really hard. Also makes its own corrosion resistance over time via patina.
And it’s a nice patina too :-)
I checked it on Amazon (UK) and was horrified. A new one has a pricetag of £211.00! Ouch.
Yes, ouch indeed! Luckily old second hand ones are far cheaper!
Damn $300ish lock.
Care to compare its strength to my Abloy 350?
The Abloy is harder to pick but weaker in construction. BOTH mean business :-)
I've got one that needs a key got no idea how they make a key be very interesting
Impression one?
