My Sons Dad is a Narcissist, after a toxic marriage and toxic divorce and a toxic co-parenting journey i had to accept my Ex only cares about himself. His money is a big trigger, since he has to pay child support now instead of financially abusing me it drives him crazy. He only pays a third of what he required from me to keep the house going but now I'm bleeding him dry. I kept thinking that his parental relationship would be important to him and that he would step up, and i stayed connected and engaged while he kept promising that he would show up and do the right thing. It only gave him more time to exploit me, and con me out of more money it was always about the money.
Excellent advice. I’ve learned that parallel parenting works best. Ultimately, it’s best for the well-being of the parent and child. As mentioned in the video, it allows the child to clearly distinguish between the households and lifestyles of both parents. Hopefully the child chooses to live more in line with the non-narcissistic parent as he or she matures into adulthood. Co-parenting, on the other hand, blends the healthy with the unhealthy and keeps the narcissist’s mask secure.
I totally agree with you.
Yup, everything boils down to money and image. Accepting that fact suddenly made everything settled and calmer for me.
Yes!! Absent is better!
Yes I agree.
Wth can anyone do to make them stop faking the funk n just leave you and the kids alone
Great advice, I have a question, would you say NPD or narcissism is a mental illness?
I would say the majority of it is a choice to abuse and the label doesn’t matter as much as the actions
