  • What’s better than grilling, drinking, and hanging with friends? David Shim from Cote Korean Steakhouse in NYC makes Korean BBQ, a meal designed for fun and sharing.
    David demonstrates a few techniques for trimming beef short ribs, the most common protein served at Korean BBQ, as well as some preparations of banchan (small side dishes) like pickled daikon, kimchi radish, and much more. Finally, David and Cote co-owner Simon Kim show off proper KBBQ drinking customs.

    One of the most important key ingredient is the 'Korean pear" very different from western pear.
    It is crunchy, juicy and sweet.
    When you make Korean soy sause BBQ or bulgogi use this pear
    This makes good beef sauce great.
    Believe me. Every single great korean bbq restaurant, chefs, home cook nerds like me use it.
    You can use fuji apple instead if you cannot find this pear near you but once you use it you will fall in love with your sauce.

      @tigerjonn Před 3 lety +5

      @Onion Dark Knight Japanese Food and Korean Food cant really be compared. Even though Japan and Korea is right next to each other the flavors are almost at the opposite spectrum.
      Japanese cuisine emphasizes on natural and umami type flavors, and usually enjoyed with soy sauce, salt, or miso to fit tastes. Japanese food is usually very mild but deep and let the ingredients speak for themselves.
      While
      Korean cuisine emphasizes on kick you in the face type flavors, and usually enjoyed spicy, pickled/fermented, and just a wide variety of different tastes and dishes. Korean food is usually not shy about all the different flavors deep, spicy, hot, sweet, salty, sour, all of it is present in one meal setting.
      The wide variety and differences in Asian cuisine is very special. Look at Europe, the most famous European cuisine is Italian and French, and of course they have differences, but yet also a lot of similarities....
      While in Asia...
      Japanese, Korean, Thai, Indian, Vietnamese, Chinese, all of which cuisines are easily level of any european countries.
